In November 2016, I travelled to Kabukicho, Tokyo to film a new documentary series comparing real-life Kabukicho Tokyo to the fictionalized Kamurocho Tokyo featured in the Yakuza series by Sega.

In 2012, I filmed a documentary series, Yakuza Locations Tour 2012 to celebrate the release of the upcoming Yakuza 5 (Ryu Ga Gotoku 5). The documentary was met with overwhelming positive response from the fans and the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios team.

Finally I will be able to continue this series. I played Yakuza 1 but stopped when I couldn't find a copy of 2 for a reasonable price. I'm picking up Kiwami 1 next week too. Even if 3-5 don't get Kiwami remakes hopefully Sega at least do a remaster collection of the rest of the mainline games in the series.

I would love for him to appear in 7 (even if I am hating the fact that I can't play as him the entire time he's there), but that's just the way I interpreted Sega's statement. They'd be moving on from Kiryu like Bioware moved on from Shepard.

Could be an even faster turn around. They can probably use the original localization just fine (just making a few adjustments here and there where their localilzation choices have changed) and would only need to do a new translation for the actual new content.

Best antagonist, great story, incredibly fun side-quests/substories.

The Kiwami-fication treatment is only going to make it an even more amazing game.

It's just a flat out incredible game. Yakuza 2 has the best characters in the series, a wonderfully ridiculous (and genuinely heartfelt) story, a whole new city to explore, an amazing improvement to the gameplay of its predecessor. It's one of those Uncharted 2 kind of sequels that makes good on all the promises of an ambitious original game.

I think 0 just edges it out by way of its more modern design and the sheer volume of great stuff it has, but a ground-up remake of 2 on the new engine is probably going to reclaim the crown of Best Yakuza Game.
