We need Sunset Overdrive on PC or Xbox 4k

I cant believe Forza, Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves all are or will be available on PC while Sunset Overdrive (the best exclusive this gen from MS) is not playable on PC :( I want to experience it in 4k goodness :( Why Phil?

Fixed my post. Sorry I absolutly hated the controls. Crackdown and inFamous controls were a lot better in my opinion.

Microsoft would have to pay Insomniac to do it wouldn't they?

Not sure Insomniac even has the time since they're working on Spider-Man.

60fps would compliment this game too.

I think we'd have more of a shot if insomniac wasn't making a ps4 exclusive right now, can't see them wanting to appear to be aiding Microsoft whilst being funded by Sony.

I'd buy it. Weird that it's still stuck on the XB1 when just about everything else has come to PC.
It's not as if Insomniac didn't want it to

We would love for it to be on PC

I've always found this post from Stump to accurately sum up the situation:

Another way of framing this thread is that Sunset Overdrive quite notably slipped through the cracks of MS's PC strategy. It came out during a time where MS was still pushing Xbox One as hardware rather than Unified Windows Platform. By all accounts the game didn't tank, but it also didn't set the world alight, and the reviews were generally positive. It did not get a port--possibly because of MS priorities in terms of a game that they published but don't own the IP of, possibly because Insomniac has been busy with many projects since then.

It's interesting to walk through Microsoft's Xbox One product portfolio and look at the games that ended up being 100% exclusive to Xbox One:
Forza Motorsport 5 <-- sorta exclusive, but subsequent installment of IP on Windows 10 and it's more like an "annualized" game than something where you'd want to go back to Forza 5 ten years later
Zoo Tycoon <-- Despite being an adaptation of a PC series, made by a studio historically known for PC stuff, and despite lending itself to a KBM interface, no PC release.
Crimson Dragon <-- Japanese dev, built around Kinect
Powerstar Golf
Xbox Fitness <-- required Kinect
Forza Horizon 2 <-- Likewise, Forza Horizon 3 coming to PC
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Kinect Sports Rivals <-- Required Kinect
Sunset Overdrive
Dance Central Spotlight <-- Required Kinect
Forza Motorsport 6 <-- Apex, future installments of IP coming to Windows
Halo 5: Guardians <-- Forge mode on PC as well as limited online mode, clearly a trial run for subsequent Halo being day and date
Rare Replay
ScreamRide

So we wound up with is situation where either MS would need to pay to port over a game that they have no IP ownership of combined with Insomniac being all hands-on-deck with their current project.

Eh, Microsoft didn't strike while the iron was hot on this one and lost out on one of their few new IP this gen that was worth a damn. We can all look forward to the inevitable sequel in about 6 years, when they try to go back to their "roots," from a totally different developer that just disappoints on every level. Let's call it the Crackdown effect.

Not necessarily. They could get a studio like asobo to do the porting and X upgrades but I don't think that's there interest at this point. SO was a GWG and it's in gamespass, sonthe future sales potential on the Xbox side is rather minimal and there's no telling how it would perform sales wise on W10 or steam. So ok the end it could end up being a waste of money

Insomniac own the IP.....

I need the controls to be remade from scratch. Then maybe I'll enjoy this game.
I agree with this. It annoys me so much because the Grind and Boost are mapped on two separate buttons.

You cannot remap control either.

I gotta pushed myself to finish it. Although to be fair the last few main missions are not too bad.

One of the greatest games of this generation of consoles. I could go on and on why that game was fantastic. We need a sequel with some better co-op integration.

Sunset Overdrive is my favorite Xbox One exclusive, I sold the system but I would pick that game up again if they ever release it on PS4 or PC.

I'd sure as hell rebuy if they did a Win10/Steam version and goddamn I'd love to see an Xbox One X enhancement job done on this.

HDR?
4k?
Framerate boost if possible?

I'd take anything at this point.

If they own the IP why don't port it on PC, PS4, PS4 Pro and Xbox One X? Seems like a missed opportunity.

Because they're making SpriderMan. Probably as simple as that.

Nah. It controls great and is one of the best playing games from western devs this gen.

co-signed.

Maybe Microsoft can get some internal devs for a patch with a physical re-release; ultimate edition or something. I think with the increased installed base and more goodwill towards the Xbox brand, it could do well.

I think they own the ip but they made a deal Microsoft for a exclusive title, I don't believe we know how long the timeframe for that was. Maybe forever

Same reason why Spiderman won't be coming to other platforms. It's published by the platform holder. Owning an IP doesn't mean they can put the game wherever they want.

I've always wanted to play Sunset Overdrive, it looks like a really good Saints Row sort of game, but I ain't shelling out money for a console for just 1 game. PC release with uncapped framerate please.

Would love Sunset Overdrive on PC, I'd buy it.

Also Halo 5. It's annoying that Forge is on PC but not the actual game.

Such a stupid move. Would sell like butter. Talking about Halo 5, but since SO is one of the few games that almost made me buy an Xbone once I'd love to see it on PC.

But they could put a sequel wherever they want. Kind of like Titanfall.
And yeah, it's nothing like Spider-Man whose IP is obviously owned by Marvel.

It's nothing like spiderman but yeah they made a deal with Microsoft. Microsoft funded the game.
Obviously every deal is different, but both Sunset Overdrive and Spiderman are Insomniac developed games published by the respective platform holder, and the IP isn't owned by the publisher. Though in the case of Spiderman it's not owned by the developer either.

Potentially, though it's likely Microsoft has first rights of refusal on a sequel. If they refused, Insomniac would have to pitch it to another publisher, and who knows if any would pick it up.

Titanfall is also a slightly different situation, as EA was always the publisher from the start.

No thanks.

Make a game better and your rely is 'No thanks', as in, you don't want a better version of a great game? Not sure you thought this through.

OP, I don't think we'll see it, but I do feel we'll get a new SO somewhere down the line. Insomniac love the franchise and are really proud of it, it's completely thier world and they have the freedom to do what they want with it.

Yeah that's kind of the important point here mate. They're nothing alike

I would love for Microsoft to revisit this game when the Xbox One X launches and ports it to PC. The same goes for Rare Replay, though it being a compilation of classic games makes it harder to justify the bump in resolution that could be used in Sunset Overdrive.

I mean. I want everything on PC. The more, the merrier.

MS has a great catalogue sitting there, which would sell gangbusters on steam if they unleashed it.
