So I thought SMT Liberation would be another gacha trap game but it seems it's a fully fledged RPG ?
http://gematsu.com/2017/09/dx2-shin...es-press-turn-battle-system-demon-negotiation

I wonder what its gacha system would be?

Considering Another Eden is also a full fledged Jrpg however it also had gacha for waifus, i can see it taking that style of gacha.

However, if the gacha of SMT is only for the demon, they are going to suffer lol. No one is going to spend money to get trash and uninteresting demon lol.^_^

Pikmin wars

It will flop badly lol.^_^

I'm thinking Soul Reverse Zero + gacha for characters and demons. Demon gacha would replace weapon gacha in other games like GBF. Maybe demons will power up with which character they're attached to?

Agreed on the combination as Soul Reverse Zero actually there. Considering SRZ also come from Sega, i can see them seeing some inspiration from that title too.

Demon as Weapon and waifu/husbando as partner character seems to be a great idea actually.^_^

How is releasing a new game burning bridges? What's the acceptable time limit before releasing a new product?
Releasing an over priced port of a PSN title that goes for <$5 and then including that in a collection with a lot more games for likely the same price and while skipping Switch is pretty bad for the consumers that paid for it. Which were apparently ton

It depends on which features you think a fully fledged RPG must have.

Barring systems that require complex input, modern Japanese F2P mobile games have lengthy story content and complexity that requires as much, if not more, dedication as one would have to a traditional home console JRPGs. Just look at anything announced in this year or the last.

Sure, I do not disagree with that. Is dedication one of the features that make a jRPG a fully fledged jRPG, though? Also, dedication is heavily distorted because of how mobile gaming business models are structured. On mobile, companies need to extract surplus from consumers through micro-transactions (as the entry fee is zero or close to zero), which typically enters the gameplay itself. Therefore, the dedication is closely linked to the business model, which does look like it is intertwined with the genre (simply, jRPGs, RTSs and puzzle games are more adequately translated to this business model unlike, say, fighting games). In sum, I think dedication and complexity are orthogonal to the genre.

For example, personally, one of the most defining characteristics of a full fledged jRPG is the sense of adventure you can find by exploring towns, fields, and dungeons. I feel this is quite lost on mobile (not saying I do not like mobile games, but they are just different experiences for the most part, and not comparable with console games), in particular in successful games that are able to earn plenty of money. This is obvious: the aim of companies is making consumers spend with the lower cost possible and, say, open-world (or explorable world-maps) are costly to produce and difficult to monetize.

Agree. Saying that Splatoon 2 is only going to keep selling thanks to bundle is going for rude awakening there. I see it on the level of Animal Crossing on 3DS last gen which will keep selling till the end of time.^_^

That's not what I was saying though.

I also believe Splatoon 2 would keep selling until end of time but for it to sell over 4 or 5 million by the end of 2018, bundle would play a big part.

Switch alone is 29.980, Splatoon 2 alone is 5.980, the bundle is 35.960 (all prices MSRP without tax) so the bundle is exactly the same cost as the separate parts combined. The only way the bundles "helps" is that due to the hardware scarcity some people may buy it without wanting to get Splatoon 2. But that's unlikely since by all indications the stand alone game sell well as well, which it wouldn't if there is plenty availability as second hand.

Nintendo did not show up at Apple's event.

When is the next possibility that Nintendo could talk or present info about any of their new mobile games in development?

At the end of October, Nintendo will have their next quarter earnings results/financial briefing. So either Nintendo is going to reveal a new mobile game prior to it or Nintendo is going to have to talk about it during their Q&A when investors are wondering when their next mobile game is coming out.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

They could easily do a Animal Crossing Direct like Fire Emblem and talk about the mobile and Switch title

I wonder if any timed exclusivity for the next game may go to google again seeing as fire emblem was more financially successful than Mario

Yeah I know, that's why I said they could reveal it before their next earnings results like when they revealed Switch last year in October before the earnings results since it lets them dump all the info beforehand.

And then compared to last year, we go from WSJ Headline: Nintendo Switch fails to turn on investors

to

WSJ Headline: Animal Crossing Mobile is Viagra for investors

You are also missing the point. Right now Splatoon has 100+% attach rate week after week because the majority shipment of Switch unit is Splattoon 2 bundles. I'm not saying people chose to buy the bundle to save money but rather that's the only choice to get a Switch.

If Nintendo decides to push another game like SMO in a bundle, Splatoon 2 will not have 100% attach rate weekly and it will rely on Switch to sell insane amount of units in 2018 to hit that goal. Was there any precedent that a game sells 3 million in 6 month then sell another 2 million in the next 12 months without bundling? If that were to happen and with the long tail everyone expected for Splatoon 2, it's gonna be easily the best selling games of all time in Japan.

But yeah, I think it's worth remembering that Fire Emblem was announced only 2-3 weeks before it came out, and Fall hasn't even started yet.

If Nintendo isn't tying their announcement to a platform vendor's conference, which they're unlikely to be doing, it could still be quite a while before they show it, even if the game isn't delayed.

I'm kind of imagining something along the lines of Gardenscapes where you have home decoration, an extensive plotline, and a variety of minigames that you do as well.

Do you think it will tie with the console game? or it will be it's own thing.

Maybe loosely. Like I could see them passing you some bonus items in the console game, but I'm not imagining anything like the Dust/EVE connection where you hired people in an FPS to take over a planet in an MMO.

Yeah, Reggie said that it will be launching by the end of the year. Perhaps they will announce another November Animal Crossing Direct. Mobile title out late Nov - Early Dec. Details around that plus a trailer for Animal Crossing Switch releasing Summer 2018.

The question is - will it be a card game? A dress up/home deco game? A dress up/home deco card game?!
For a title like Animal Crossing, I'm sure they are also trying to make a lot of social features for the game to encourage gamers to get out and interact with other players.

In regards to discussion earlier about Zelda mobile. I could see something like the Four Swords anniversary edition for DSiware where there was a single player mode and a multiplayer mode.

They said the game would be designed to work as a family with the Animal Crossing title released for dedicated gaming hardware. So that would suggest that there will be some sort of connectivity.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I think it's developed by Sega, not Atlus. I really won't hold my breath for a Sega RPG.

Yes, i know...but Sega wouldnt work on a Persona title without Atlus blessing or working things out first with them. "Sacrifice" as in....yeah we are providing the budget for that SMT console game you are developing, so while you are at it let us make some money on Smartphones with SMT too.

Im not hyped or anything for SMT on smartphones but ill stay open minded...it could turn out good.

SGGG? Eternal Arcadia? Valkyria? Shining Force? Phantasy Star? Yakuza? 7th Dragon? Lmao. Sega is one of the RPG greats. More so than Altus.

Well, Sega's recent RPG looks more like

Their recent RPG is abysmal though.

Even 7th Dragon 3ds is worst compared to DS one.

Hero Bank bomba badly,...... and that blasphemy Vakyrie Revolution existence lol.

But their mobile game rpg effort indeed is wonderful.
