Honestly I think you made a poor choice.

For not that big of a price difference, you get double the performance processor-wise, upgraded cameras, wireless charging, fast charging, True tone display. There are other minor feature upgrades like BT5.0 etc. but all-in-all the 7+ is a poor choice considering the price difference.

Whoa there Mr. Moneybag.

You don’t get fast charging and wireless charging without spending more money on those adapters

Aren't they compatible with the Qi chargers? If so, not really that expensive.

Unless you have to have only the official accessories.

am I missing something about wireless charging?

whats so great about having to put it on a docking station instead of plugging it in?

Some people like keeping their phone at their desk where they can see incoming notifications while also being able to pick up the phone and plop it back down on the charger instead of having to disconnect it?

Convenience. Sitting at your desk, get a call, pick up the phone, put it down afterwards.

It happens way to often, that i forget about the cable and nearly rip it.

8+ and 7+ have the same Camera right?

I like the phone except that cutout where the camera is would be extremely annoying when trying to view anything full screen. I think I read there's an option around that but that defeats the purpose of having such a large screen to begin to with does it not?

Also overpriced. Don't care how good it is 1500cdn before taxes for a phone is ridiculous.

Convenience.

I have a dock on my desk. I only plug it in if I'm really low on battery.

you don't have an outlet near your desk?

idk im not suggesting its useless but it seems highly situational

And the phone would charge 10x faster via the cable too. I had wireless charging 5 years ago, it sucked then, it's not magically any better now. If they ever get it happening without needing to sit the device on/in something I'll reconsider but I have no need for the current implementation in a world of fast charging.

sorry for quoting a post below me but yeah, when I hear the term "wireless charging" I don't think of having to place it on a docking station

I get the convenience of "wireless" charging but I think it's hilarious that your example would be exactly the same if the phone was plugged in with a cable.

I‘m in the same boat. Promised my mom that she gets my iP7 this year.

I am shit out of luck with the pricing though as the X 256gb costs 1300€+ here (the currency differences are absolutely insane) and I‘m not sure if 64gb is enough for me. My 7 has 128gb currently and I‘m at 50gb used (music collection etc increasing every day).

Guess I‘ll have to bite and buy the 256gb one... I just hope they don‘t iPad 3/iPhone 6 it (as in the new lost generation). That‘d be a bitter pill to swallow if next years iPhone is cheaper, has Touch ID in addition to Face ID and eliminates the notch (although I guess that‘s their new branding).

Then you sell and upgrade. X should hold its value well and people that can’t justify the premium now, will want it next year at a more reasonable price - assuming no major price cuts from Apple screwing with your plans.

20 mins to go and I’m still not sure what to do. I think I’m settled on the X, but lack of supply means it could take a long time to get one. And I’m sick of this hold-me-over android. Do I grab something new (6s/7/8) until I can get an X and then sell on with warranty etc, or grab a used 5s/6/6s from people upgrading?

Edit: do the 8/X support fast wireless charging?

UK guys:

EE iPhone X tariffs are out. Looks like they're only doing 15GB plans and for the 64GB you're looking at either;
£99.99 upfront and £72.99 a month
£49.99 upfront and £77.99 a month

http://ee.co.uk/why-ee/iphone-prices#iphonex

15 GB?

Absolute trash.

People who buy this thing arent buying it to not be using it 24/7.

I guess the price of the phone meant they just couldnt offer more data without the monthly payments getting so high that they'd be embarrassed to advertise them.

I'm interested to see O2's pricing as ive always found EE a little pricey. That's probably my unconscious bias coming into play though.

Vodafone showing £60pm for the base 8, £64 for the 8+, and £68 for the X. Might actually be worth seeing if I can upgrade. Currently on 8Gb for £17pm. £68 would be the same as £50 for the phone (less than Apple IUP) with the same plan. And I would guess they’d be doing more data than 8GB.

At least they've split the difference with the price to go up a storage level. Used to be £100/$100 to go up a level, so would be £200/$200 to go from 64GB to 256GB. Now it's £150/$150.

huh? you have that backwards. Previously when Apple bumped up the storage tiers they kept the $100 difference. Also Apple raised the price of the base tier by $50. So the price of 256GB hasn't changed ― $150+$50=$200 ― and Apple is just fleecing the lower tiers. It should be $650 for 64GB and $750 for 256GB if Apple kept up the old progress path

What I don't quite understand: When you are using your browser on the iPhone X and try to scroll down with your finger (moving your finger upwards on the display), how do you prevent the phone from interpreting that as the new menu gesture? I already had this problem with the control center, where it would often show up when I flick the page while browsing. Fortunately you could disable that, so that the control center only shows up when you make the gesture on the home screen. But you obviously won't be able to do this with the new menu gesture, I guess?

Is there any point in buying phones through carriers.. especially when I don't see myself switching to android? I'm tempted to wait until next year to pay off my o2 contract and then just buy the next iPhone direct from Apple.

Also for the iup credit check, can that be done online? I don't wanna go instore then find out I'm declined.

don't flick from right at the bottom of the screen. I guess you'll just need to get used to it.

You know, I can do just that as my charging cable is long enough to use it around my desk. Furthermore, in that way it keeps charging while I use it, unlike wireless charging (calling, texting, searching on the web).

I have used wireless charging with my S7 and personally I don't care for it. It has a futuristic feel to it initially, but ultimately it is a gimmick "solving" the need to make a movement that takes like 3 seconds per charging cycle and it introduces more inconveniences. And fast charging is a bliss.

I can't see any plans that are less expensive than buying separately. Especially with iphone payments being 0%, better to buy from Apple direct, then get a cheap sim only deal. They're also much easier to swap around as they are usually 30 day or 12 month contracts, no 2 year lock in.
