Look like the pattern indicates a dropoff in Switch hardware with those numbers. My guess is they are starting to save up for the holidays.

It's really more for Odyssey launch in a month. That big release per month is really great because is easier to find Switch units on that week.

Dragon Quest X and Pokken are week 38, Fire Emblem Warriors week 39.

There will be increased shipments for these weeks.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Maybe for a week. Pokken and FE Warriors then its almost Odyssey time. And IIRC Nintendo has said supply is supposed to really start improving around now..

Another amazon restock, several skus, with one shooting up to second place in the daily ranking. Notable is that one of the skus is a Monster Hunter XX sku. It jumped to spot no. 31, so not a massive amount of units, but maybe they are going to provide a few extra bundles for that game over time?

PS4 Dragon Quest X: All in One Package - 16.391 / 27.602

SWI ???

It will be interesting.

Isn't there a free update program for Wii players?

And speaking of Amazon...

DBX2 to be restocked on 26/9, third parties are selling it for ¥9000, lol. Over at Yodobashi, it's still sold out nationwide.

Monster Hunter XX HD is sold out on Amazon again, new stock expected to arrive on 29/9. Available nationwide at Yodobashi stores.

Release next week.
I know, that's why I made that post. It's something to watch for.

Yes
If you have the Wii one you can get the switch one for free
I imagine very low numbers for this version due to that

all these signs...

I mean, less-than-stellar software sold out?

they remind me of the calm (Launch) before the storm (Jump stars + Nintendogs) in Japan for the Nintendo DS.

with the difference that the calm here is being produced by shortages.

once nintendo goes "here are 300k per week motherfuckers" this thing has the potential to be in the top 5 pieces of hardware LTD in Japan.

With enough supply and Splatoon 2/Mario Odyssey, Switch 2017 holidays will be huge.

Wrt to Switch most curious how it performs with:

-no more shortages
-this holiday
-next holiday
-when Pokemon shows up
-when Animal Crossing shows up
-when 2D Mario shows up
-"final" LTD

Also curious about:

-what Switch release schedules will look like at its peak.
-will Capcom get on board.
-just how big/comprehensive Switch/PS4 will be in Japan (going both ways)
-will the Bethesda initiative last; will it drive other western third parties to do the same (mostly a western market question here, of course)
-will Nintendo make a new IP that pushes Switch's unique shape hard

Switch is off to a great start (with great first party hardware/software efforts) and I think we're genuinely in a state where the 3rd party situation looks fairly promising for the device even if there are some notable distressing factors (Capcom, Level 5).

#2 of all time is extremely likely IMO. It would all have to fall to pieces in year 2/3 for it not to, and with it being the only Nintendo platform within a year, that seems impossible.

2nd of all time would mean above 30m units (between GB and DS).

GB figures combine GB and GBC, over a huge period of 14 years, so are not really one platform despite how Nintendo counts them (GBC had ~500 exclusive, non backward compatible games, that is a separate platform by any fair definition of the term).

The fact that the period is huge is just a merit of Nintendo's strategy. If you want to discount GBC sales, GB is still close to 27m. 2nd place would mean Switch selling more than 27m units.

Thats for the info. That quote seems to be about the visuals in particular, but maybe its also about the game itself? Is there much similarities between Zelda and Okami?

Okami is one of those premiere "Zelda clones" that will often be referenced. Now obviously you play as a god-wolf and fight a giant ball of everlasting-darkness but the overall gameplay beats (and many story beats) could be expected in a pre-BotW Zelda. Often, Okami is compared strongly to TP as they are fairly close to each other, and Okami was on the Wii along with TP.

In general, this decision is just a baffling/stupid one that I've heard talked about for the past week or two on various gaming podcasts where people discuss the game's announcement and surprise/confusion at its absence from the Switch. You don't need to be in SalesAge to look at this as a strange move, which is generally a good barometer on how stupid something is because while we're wrapped up in our sales bubble, the greater discourse is generally more open.

How pokken wii u edition debuted? Would 500k first week a good result for a game on the hottest console of the moment?

It's not even about being wrapped up in a bubble,it's just one childish guy who keep whining literally about everything and keeping his delusional narrative about his platform of choice being doomed, bullied and abandoned by Japanese third parties or something. It's just ridiculous

Okami HD and Monster Hunter World are proof that logical thinking is not a thing at Capcom.

It's better to stop trying to understand their decisions. The only plausible explanation for those games to skip Switch would be "they are already too far in development", but even then that just shows they are not flexible enough to adjust to the market.

We are talking about what could potentially be the best selling version of both games.

I think MH World is understandable, given the scope and how long its been in development.

Disney Afternoon collection, Mega Man collection, and Okami make absolutely zero sense.

World is coming to PC at a later date, they could add Switch to the mix if they wanted to.

Wolfenstein 2 is a thing. Don't forget.

I bet Okami HDHD(?) was greenlit before it was clear how successful Switch was going to be. That makes sense to some degree. I'm sure Capcom will release it on Switch as well eventually.

MH World no idea. Maybe that crazy 4chan rumour is true, maybe not.

For Disney I wonder if Capcom had to go back and negotiate the license separately for Switch, which could be pretty costly. The situation is really bad though, as that Disney license won't last forever. It will cease at some point and Capcom will need to de-list the game. Clock's ticking.

Mega Man Collection WHO KKNOWS CAPCOM WHAT ARE YOU DOING

I suspect Switch is getting a Monster Hunter game mostly/somewhat based off World in the next fiscal year.

I'd say Okami is the least understandable because it wasn't some far-along-in-development project like World or early-in-the-lifecycle release like Disney and Mega Man. Bethesda will have released ports of Skyrim and Doom in that time. NBA, WWE and FIFA will be out. L.A. Noire will be out. Tons of indie games old and new, big and small will have been released. I can't come up with a single reason why they'd skip the Switch for Okami HD, a game that releases in mid-December, nine months after launch.

That's the logical thinking that Capcom don't have. Like I said it's better to expect nothing.

At this point Capcom are more unpredictable than Nintendo. :lol (but one is successful and the other is not)

Capcom is a shell of its former self. They bet on the Switch being unsuccessful and development resources as tight as they are were allocated accordingly. Switch suddenly proving to be a hot commodity does not mean much in the short term for a company that does not have the ability to shift with any ease.

Its possible more ports may start showing up for projects that were greenlighted after switch proved itself but I do not expect any sort of real Capcom support until 2019 the earliest.

TBH it's a sad state of affairs when a core 3DS partner bets against the immediate future of the Japanese dedicated console industry.

It isn't completely not understandable but it is a mentality that only contributes to there being less of a future for that market in the abscence of other parties stepping in and filling that abscence.

I don't think 3rd parties in Japan are completely "victims" of the decline of that market and are in part causally responsibile for it.

Switch is partly so exciting because it is beating the bets against the market at this point.

(Tbc I also think Nintendo's peculiar interest in keeping that market afloat is largely because of where they've put themselves. Although I do think that position is largely because of how they could not stand losing Japan so badly with N64 and they turned inward with GCN leading to them needing the Wii/DS generation, which further entrenched them in Japan as they found themselves divergent from the sort of consoles westerners were mostly buying and mostly developing for.)

In my opinion, 50k would be ok-ish but not too exciting. It seems this Pokémon spin-off does not have any chances to breakout in Japan (it is a very peculiar one, after all). It will sell well worldwide, though.

Doesn't that say a lot about Capcom's state as a company if they cannot adjust accordingly? Other Japanese third parties are.

Ehh. I'd say only KT has really shown any quick signs of adjustment so far.

And SE has clearly been pretty all in from the start.

Namco's still a question mark.

After Street Fighter 4 was a massive success across all the various platforms and releases etc. you had Ono literally crying to the gaming press and anyone who would listen about how Capcom was not willing to spend the funds on a SFV etc. which is where eventually Sony came in and got exclusivity by shouldering a bunch of costs.

Capcom seems to be run incredibly incompetently. They basically pissed away their MH money into Mobile development studios etc. that have yet to show they were worth the MH money

Should I count the Arcade Archives Nintendo games as new Switch titles, or do people view that more as an extension of Virtual Console?
