Whatever happened to the PC port of Powerslave?

I don't think Kaiser's collaboration with Night Dive actually got off the ground. His port was shelved after the IP owner caught wind of what he was doing and there's been no movement since. That was well over two years ago now. I'd guess Night Dive had hoped to clear a path by licensing the IP and turning the project into a commercial product, but those discussions ultimately lead nowhere.

So ive always wondered :

When the only Antialiasing options in a Game are either FXAA, MLAA or SMAA. which one should one pick as best ?

They're all "cheap", though SMAA in particular can have a temporal component that increases rendering cost. Pick the one that you feel provides the best balance between performance, the removal of aliasing and preservation of finer texture detail. I generally prefer SMAA over FXAA myself.

I really wish they'd allow you to change your account sign in name.

My sign in is from 13 years ago and my account name is now my old dead name before I transitioned to female. I hate seeing it pop up every time I log in.

And apparently not even the staff can change it.

You could always do family share with yourself onto a different account (Not all games would share since there's some that don't allow family sharing) but at least it's something

Question about Rez:
Does it have all the stuff from the PS2 and Dreamcast versions?

It does have Trancemission, Boss Rush, the remixed version of all 5 main stages with different color options, Lost Area, and all of the unlockables, yeah.

AFAIK the only thing missing is the old menu system, which let you preview the track you selected and looked way better than the menu they have in now. The sound mix is also way different, and not in a way that I like, but most people might not notice the missing reverb and odd cutoffs on some sounds.

Hey congrats on transitioning

As for your question, idk

The ex hacker buddy had a copy of Far Cry 4 in his apartment. I chuckled.

Is there a way to finish driving missions without killing the driver? Austin Walker played the game without killing anyone, so he said, but I'm not sure the game allows for that. I certainly passed a number of pedestrians pinging off my car hood.

It is not a perfect solution, but this skin will hide your account name when the client is up:
https://github.com/cyberwitch/hidename

Changing the text that is shown when you login is more tricky. Firstly, shut down Steam, and then edit the file "public/steamui_english.txt" in the Steam installation folder (or the one corresponding to your language of choice), and replace the text "Connecting Steam account: %AccountName%..." with something like "Connecting Steam account ...". Next, add the option "-noverifyfiles" to your Steam shortcuts, to prevent Steam reverting that change every time you start the client. If you have Steam set to start on boot, then you'll have to figure out where to edit the parameters for that (I am not sure where).

Once you've done that, you should be free from seeing your account name, at least until the next client update. Maybe somebody here knows how to permanently override that text.

I'm playing a bit of Far Cry 3. I wish there were online resources to give you the best settings for the game to look clean. The game's post processing is really overbearing and looks bad.

It'd be nice if PCGamingWiki had a section entitled "I can play the game at Ultra but it looks like ass, what do I turn down"

Fun game though. Playing FC Primal helped "unlock" the game systems in my brain, because the caveman aesthetic made more sense to the mission structure I think.

Eh....
There's Story Mode, Arcade Mode (With no endings), Training Mode, and Mission Mode. But IMO it's still light on single player content. Especially if you don't care about achievement hunting. Story mode is 4 hours at most and actually shorter if anything.

Why does he wear the mask!?
No arcade mode endings? Couldn't even get the standard two sentences of text and bad art work :/

Number one reason I'm not getting it

I never play fighters online because I suck. That's why I loved I2s loot system so much. Hopefully out on PC soon.

Wow, didn't even know MVCI was coming out this week.

EDIT: I still can't believe the game has 30 characters at launch with only 4 women in total.

How's the 3ds emulator coming along? Sam's Returns is jaggy and blurry as hell in 2d mode, 3d at least makes it pop tho and I forget about the aliasing a bit.

Oh wow I'm light years behind I didn't even realize games were up and running. Need to buy an sd card reader so I can install homebrew, which I've been meaning to do anyway to convert my Generations save for MHXX

Are there rumored gpd win 2 specs? Having that emulator on the go would be cray

So yeah, just finished Super Army of Tentacles 3: The Search for Army of Tentacles 2, courtesy of Wuvcraft. I found it to be a very charming RPG/visual novel, and a very humorous look at the Cthulhu Mythos. Stands up well on its own without needing to play the first game as well.

Yeah, GPD Win 2 will have a Intel M3 Processor. It will be a pretty good upgrade, but it will still be quite far from running Citra decently (maybe one or two simple 2D games at best) I'm afraid.

I really, really, wish they would get around to doing this. The last I've ever heard any Valve employee bring this up was John Cook like 3-4 years ago on the /r/steam subreddit -- although John Cook himself has since then left Valve. I really can't imagine it would be that difficult even if it was a key entry in their DB, they could surely retain the account name if need be and keep it invisible in the background while aliasing the login name to have it changeable or something. I'm a complete dummerd but it sounds like a relatively easy solution that they just don't have anyone there with interest in doing it as it doesn't involve adding VR or blind boxes to things.

Prey is not only beautiful but also incredibly fun, letting you approach each situation as you prefer.
I love it. Had to uninstall it to resist the urge to replay it because I'm waiting for any potential DLC and additions before I get back to it, and during my original playthrough they were patching it a bunch as well.

Hollow Knight is beautiful
That it definitely is.

If u like mvc inf's system grab it

Comparing it to other similar games (max):

DOS:2 - 85k
Pillars of Eternity - 30k
DOS:1 - 21k
Torment - 8k
Tyranny - 16k
Wasteland 2 - 18.5k

DOS:2 is a massive success, massive.
Dang!

Couldn't have happened to a better game. Every moment I've played has been a blast. It feels like a tremendous leap forward from DOS, which was already a great game.

In a way there's parallels to Baldur's Gate; the first established the mechanics and setting, while the second established the tone and story focus and somehow leapfrogged way ahead of its predecessor. I really want to say "DOS2 is the next BG2" but since I'm still in Act 1 it's premature for that kind of rapturous praise.

Is there a way to run stream off of a usb? Games to.

I've played a few single-player games through my external ssd - no issues. But I installed steam app on my pc hdd, installing it on external ssd caused lag/freezing/crash issues (not sure why).

I expect a normal usb(v3) will work - but load times might be an issue.

Edit: That being said, I'm sure some games won't work - probably some file compatibility/running permissions issues.

It's probably the best CRPG of the modern era.

The sandboxy nature of the questdesign and the way they are all interconnected is truly unrivaled.

It also helps that every quest has its own little storyline with choices dialogue. Nothing feels like filler.

The game is also fucking huuuuuge.

The spell System is still the best in videogames (even if the armor system makes It sometimes frustrating (why would armor block a provocation from my warrior?)

The combat all in all is really challenging and every encounter uniquely designed.

Only the story I'm still disappointed with. So far it's been really generic again, even if the writing itself is amazing (the talking cows!)

Absolutely deserved success.

Wonder if PoE2 will be a similar leap.

An in installed to the USB drive? I saw a video on it a while ago and CSGO had massive load times and other games wouldn't run, it was it the other way around.

Don't want csgo. Mainly dungeon and roguelikes.

Unexplored, ftl etc

Those should work, I played much bigger games through the ssd (e.g. deus ex: hr). But since I didn't play these ones specifically - can't say.

Maybe someone like @JaseC can give a more complete answer.

So would I installe it on the USB or just put installers on it?

Whoa, that's great to hear! Can't wait to play it. I'm so happy that it is selling well, I am curious as to why it's selling so well, I mean to an audience outside the regular cRPG crowd?

- I had the games already installed on my hdd.
- Then via steam I created another steam library folder on my ssd.
- Then I moved the steam games I wanted to play when travelling, via steam onto the ssd (alternatively, you can cut-paste the installed game folders themselves onto the usb - program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/(game folder you want to transfer manually).

I have not tried installing onto ssd directly - might have to try to see if it works (it should for most games since your usb is basically just another pc hdd at this point when connected).

The trick is to make sure the usb steam games folder is added to steam library folders - then when you run steam, you will have to click on install game - it will verify files/check to see already installed files, and the game will be added to your steam library (without having to download the game again).

K? I just saying I think it's dumb they couldn't put more than 4 women in this game. Especially since both Marvel and Capcom have some really cool ladies they could have added.

Because wearing badass armor makes you more confident.

The provocation resistance is based on how cool you look, right?
