I dont need a new GPU this year but thinking of upgrading for AC Origins do ye think its worth waiting till next year to get an 1180 and stick with my 980 for now or upgrade to a 1080 now

Add to older games?o_O Seems like the complete opposite of what they should be doing. Do they hope it will result in more sales or what? I can't really see anyone overthrere who knows anything thinking it was a good idea.
yep they added when DLCs released for last Anno and Heroes of MM games .... it spawned some wierd errors for people (aka the classic denuvo errors but masked as Uplay errors) ... was hilarious to watch

No you're right, we should forget pendragon backstabbed icefrog. We should also forget that he was admin of largest dota community, was working at riot and when riot wanted to publicize their game he took down dota forums, held the db hostage, pulled up lol. We should also forget that he then proceeded to troll/trash-talk dota at every point, even releasing blog-posts stating how lol was the new thing.

We should also forget that he then came under intense criticism, returned the db, but playdota had already been started. He then grovelled at dota community when he saw dota being vastly more popular than lol. We should also forget that he was then at the front of trying to get blizzard to sue/take-down dota.

Basically what you're saying is, if someone shot you, and you survived - you'd never bring it up again. Because it's old history. Right?
What Pendragon did was so despicable that even League fans can't defend it and instead go with "but it was so long ago". The passage of time doesn't make it better. As another example, it's been about five years since Randy Pitchford tried to pull the Aliens Colonial Marines con job and people still remember it today. Sometimes these things stick.
like i said on my first post, the problem with any talk about pendragon is that a) bringing up pendragon is always irrelevant to what's being discussed at the time and b) being outraged 8 years ago doesn't grant you the right to talk out of your ass because you're completely out of touch with current riot/league (like saying riot doesn't listen to criticism, for instance).

it's not my job to defend pendragon cos none of these discussions are about pendragon, yet people make it about him because of old grudges that have nothing to do with the thread (remember? this was about how ppl obsessively turn conversations about league into conversations about pendragon?). heck, even if i wanted to defend pendragon, i couldn't cos he's not a prominent figure in any way so i don't even know what the fuck he does at riot lol.

it's also not my job to condemn his actions, as they literally happened before i started playing the game and i don't think there's any shortage of ppl ready to draw blood for that cause...

also these comparisons don't work so well cos:
- getting shot comparison: first of all, lol. but like, don't you think it's way more reasonable to be at the person who shot you instead of like idk players of the game that shooty person had a part in making (along like 80 other people) 8 years ago? don't you think it's a bit absurd to remind people that like a game about what a sucky person they barely even know did 8 years ago?
- randy pitchford: i don't read much about randy and his antics but a couple key differences i think are important. first, randy is head of the company, so he represents gearbox in a bigger way than pendragon represents riot (who's represented much more visibly by its actual owners, marc merril and rito ryze... i always forget his name). second, as far as i know, randy pitchford has been kind of in a slope of repeated offenses that i don't think aligns with riot. nowadays they make a great game and that's about it, they're not screwing people over every year or whatever

idea is fairly simple, if riot cleaned up their act, why are we still talking about what pendragon did in 2009? what result do you want out of this situation? you want riot to close down or pendragon go tell icefrog he's sorry? more importantly, what do you want from me or any league player that just wants to talk about league with non league players and can't because they have to first listen to long rants about pendragon the despicable, betrayer of icefrog?

anyways, this is why i don't make threads about league anymore unless they're esports related cos then i know only league players will show up...

I liked Rising Thunder...
ye that legit sucks

can't say much outside of hopefully they put those ppl to good use and make a good fighting game for weirdos that like that sort of stuff

Nvidia recently said that Pascal is the "architecture to beat" going into the holiday season and for the foreseeable future. I wouldn't expect the 1180 to arrive before March and won't be surprised if Nvidia sits on it until May or even later still.

yeah i think it's really easy to stall the game in xcom 1 to the point that you can get really strong while enemies are stuck in a really early progress

what's worse is that i'm not trying to stall, i'm just taking my time but expected the game to keep up a bit more, specially since they added like the disc not long ago but barely ever shows up for some reason

i'm gonna speed things up now, probably gonna want to play divinity instead

also yea xcom continues to be scarier than any aliens

i got a mission to go "escort" an "alledged" alien collaborator, so he can "answer some questions" (their quote marks, not mine). meanwhile i just figured my sniper needed a pair of new eyes so i took a bit of their humanity forever

this game is fucked up

it's like darkest dungeon but very unaware of its own nightmarish treatement of soldiers

Uplay isn't inconvenient, just superfluous. It's completely unobtrusive but doesn't add anything of value.
Yeah, it's just if you're playing a Uplay game it makes me wonder why Denuvo would matter as it's effectively invisible. Whereas Uplay requires another account, as well as having the client running to play games and being independently updated.

I really didn't enjoy MGS4 at all. The ending was also hilariously never ending, and I needed to leave the house.

For me MGS3 and Peace Walker were good fun. Really enjoyed MGS V too. As games, with the exception of MGS4 I had good fun with all of them. As stories, they are all abysmal. As far as direction goes, there are good moments and then complete shit, eg the forever Kojima inspired leering camera man and pathetic female characters and designs, but that is part of the comedy for me. All of it just becomes one big joke while the games are good fun in-spite of that
This is a good post.

So hey, remember that post earlier saying MvC Infinite was at 25 dollars on CDKeys? I just got refunded for that because of a region mixup. :p

Gwent is a drug. A friend told me CDPR won't do resets anymore, so yesterday I started playing and I spent like 5 hours on it already.

I was good on Witcher 3 gwent, but there are new rules, some cards play differently and...I kinda suck, even because I'm pretty much using the base deck you start with, since I didn't find stronger cards.

Yeah, it's just if you're playing a Uplay game it makes me wonder why Denuvo would matter as it's effectively invisible. Whereas Uplay requires another account, as well as having the client running to play games and being independently updated.

Well, I'd say there are two legitimate reasons for being anti-Denuvo in particular: being philosophically opposed to DRM that is quite literally designed to prohibit long-term game preservation, although the extent to which Denuvo is being undone by crackers is rendering this a non-issue, and being in a situation where what is essentially periodical reactivation can be a nuisance. There are other reasons, too, but nothing else comes to mind as particularly valid (e.g. the myth that Denuvo was responsible for Rime PC's higher-than-expected hardware requirements at launch).

But you get points to unlock desktop wallpapers!

Haha, I did consider mentioning the Uplay Point system as some do consider the unlockable rewards free content.

Tell that to my AC Liberation that got broken with the new Uplay client update :)

Oh, of course there are going to be unintentional hiccups. I myself lost almost 100 hours of Black Flag progress because Uplay decided it was hungry and ate my saves.

Are these not also things that Uplay is guilty of by design? Being against DRM outright is one thing, but the idea that someone would be okay with Uplay but Denuvo giving them pause is one that seems contradictory to me.

well its additional layer of DRM ... and more layers givse more chances for something to go wrong , especially when in Uplay, Denuvo masks itself as Uplay errors

You could make the argument that UPlay has actual features that are useful for us. They are superfluous when used in conjunction with Steam, but they are something.

Denuvo's offer to us is limits and barriers on shit we paid good money for.

Also, the mere fact that denuvo is by the same folks that gave us securom is enough to make me re-consider purchasing a product that has it.

So far it hasn't stopped me from buying anything though. I'd just prefer it wasn't there.

D:OS2 still has the same issue with leveling as the first one, where getting one level makes too huge a difference in combat

There is a distinction to make in that Uplay has its own Offline Mode and Uplay integration is something Ubi could easily remove if necessary, whereas Denuvo would have to be removed from each game by the various publishers themselves. Uplay itself has no system authentication mechanism, so forced reauthentication in the event of a "major" system change is solely a knock against Denuvo.

Those against Denuvo (the DRM) would probably be more forgiving if it were something Denuvo (the company) had universal control over, like Valve with CEG.

Lmao i just fought a really strong shark boss and i one shotted him
By teleporting him onto land

The game certainly got some lows, but the highs are really high.
I love how much creativity the game allows you to employ in its quest- and encouter design
