Wkd BO 09•15-17•17 - Assassin and mother! clowned, lack "IT" factor

Random Human

They were trying to grab your prize. They work for the mercenary. The masked man.
^ Is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

After Ghost in the Shell, I wonder if they just give up on Akira.

Still the GOAT Chris Evans role. First click you hear is me hanging up, the second click is me pulling the trigger

Lmao

"That's actually hilarious."

What if Jordan Peele

Directed Creed 2

Starring Keegan Michael Key

As Clubber Lang's son

Gremlins 3, but Peele has to direct it in character as the sequel doctor from the Gremlins 2 sketch.

Instead of a live action adaptation that adds 30-40 minutes to the animated version, we'll get one that cuts that amount of time instead.

But that would make it about 90min or less, which means it would be a bomb since nobody would pay to go see something that short.

That version had Kaneda and Tetsuo named like, Kyle and Travis or something, right?

I think Francis Lawrence was gonna do that one at some point? Something like that?

I mean, hey: Getting Taika Waititi is a brilliant move. But if you hire Taika and then dictate that Taika has to work with a pair of white men in their 30s playing twentysomethings as the leads, and Taika has to put the movie in New York, then it doesn't really matter if Taika's directing it because AKIRA is going to begin in a thoroughly fucked state.

I mean, let's be honest. Akira is Chronicle in the future.

It'll be an expensive film to pull off, and for what? Chronicle topped out at $125 million. Other scifi-ish stuff. Arrival ($200 million), Jupiter Ascending ($183 million), Elysium ($286 million), Tomorrowland ($209 million). Trying to do it straight won't work; even the animated film is below the manga and relies heavily on the gorgeous animation.

Your best bet is to turn it into some superhero-style thing and that point, why do Akira?

Taika to make it based in Wellington in the future. Skuxx life!

I think that version probably was scrapped 5 scripts ago.

Someone's bound to get an anime adaption right at some point in the west. Edge of Tomorrow turned out pretty good for being a barely adaption of a manga

The more obscure the better. Even if they found some super-fan director of Akira, it could end up like Warcraft, where it isn't interesting to someone who doesn't know the source material.

I think if they're chasing a way to bring the animated film to live action, they've already fucked up. Look to the manga. But then they'll get screwed there because that isn't the movie (most) Akira fans want. *shrug* I say fuck the fans though, they'll go see anything anyway.

Like GitS, so many films, books, etc have taken inspiration from Akira in the past 30 years that it will probably feel derivative if/when it comes out.

Edit: I mean, Eleven from Stranger Things might as well have been a kid from the Akira project.

The only thing I would really want to see in an Akira adaptation is how they pull off the ending and we all know it will almost certainly suck ass.

I could have seen them handing Akira off to Josh Trank if he had hit it out of the park with Fant4stic/Star Wars and hadn't completely screwed the pooch professionally.

Have Max Landis write.

I'm just disappointed that Warner Bros would so blatantly copy Ghost in the Shell with this Blade Runner movie they got going.

You know how Christopher Lee would read Lord of the Rings once a year, every year, no matter what?

I'm like that with Akira.

Gotta step up your game son and get on Colbert's level. He listens to parts of LOTR on audio each night before falling asleep.

That legendary Nolan/Lasseter rivalry at play. Truly a cinematic slobberknocker for the ages.

Lasseter is better than Nolan. *runs away*

I don't wanna go that far.

I like breaking out the old Dark Horse set and taking a couple weeks or a month. knock out 20 or 30 pages a night before going to bed.

The artwork is so fucking nuts.

I swear people only remember the last 30 minutes of it. The rest of the movie makes little sense

the rest of the movie doesn't make sense?

The last 30 is comprehensible but it's the preceding 90 that has people scratching their head?

Hollywood really should ease into anime. Like pick a less known propriety and make a good movie about it.

Perfect Blue starring Anne Hathway 30 million budget.

Tokyo/NY Godfathers( make the marketing clear it isn't a mob movie)

Something simple and good that lets people know anime based movies can be good and not all about fireballs and shit

Perfect Blue, Evolution, and Gundam Wing was the first movies i ever brought with my own money from a job. I will always love them
