The handling is my biggest issue with the game, I just can't stand it. Racing games are my favorite genre and i play as many as I can, the praise by a small vocal group of people for this games driving model just blows my mind. You even have a few in this very thread talking about how fantastic it is.
I'm first and foremost an arcade racing fan, and I like how DC controls, whereas I usually don't like how racings sims like GT series control.
truly breathtaking outside photo mode
Load up the game on the same level, same weather and take a shot in 3rd person around the same area as the picture then (not photomode).
I get that the game looks completely awesome during the weather fx scenes, but do note that the entirety of image is distorted in some way while all of that is going on and while it does look awesome, I don't think you can toss that up to handwave away how the game actually looks au naturale minus all of the intense DOF/RAINFX/WIND/Atmospheric effects that distort the entire scene. I don't think anyone is disputing whether or not they have one of the coolest looking weather fx systems in gaming, but that doesn't excuse the rest. I don't think it's accidental that people prefer the game in 1st person view glass refraction filtering everything, during dark when you can't see much and during rain and snow etc etc.
I dunno what settings were used for that screenshot, but it's never looked like that when I've played the game.
I usually play single races set to 9:00am, 60x time lapse, and clear weather. It looks great to me with those settings. I use the 1st person bumper cam in all racers, never behind or inside the car views. The former feels weird for me, and the latter obstructs the view.
I took a few gameplay screenshots of one of my favorite Japan tracks with my favorite car BAC Mono.
