John Kodera Taking Over Andrew House's Position at SIE

Andrew House from a business perspective absolutely knocked it out of the park. Look where MS are now compared to PlayStation worldwide.

And its an interesting appointment to put John Kodera as head of PlayStation. It's obvious isn't it - Sony don't see Nintendo as their direct competition worldwide, they see Steam as their competition. Steam gets 15m users/logins a day, I wonder what PSN gets.

I'm not sure about the Steam part, otherwise Sony console exclusives would be coming less to PC. I think to Sony, Xbox remain their main competitor.

I will miss you at PSX and E3 :(

Productions.

I’m going to be looking at this new guy with a suspect face until does something cool. Big shoes to fill.

Kaz is also stepping down sometime next year as well.

Edit: Did anyone fall for the bait? Lol sorry just wanted to mess around but House will be missed.

This is it.
This is the reason why the fake Kaz Ceo twitter account will be over soon...

... it was Kodera all this time, but now he'll be busier

Jack Tretton, Adam Boyes and now Andy House. I'm gonna miss them all in the keynotes :( I already miss Tretton, tho I gotta say Shawn Layden has been doing a great job so far.

Yeah.

Yeah, they brought a lot of that extra charisma to those events. Agreed, Layden's done a really good job following in those tough shoes.

PSN is the best it’s ever been, and, if that’s this guy’s doing, then, he’ll yeah, bring him on.

In what world is PSN the best it has ever been? You mean in terms of profit? Sure, that will happen when a company starts charging for something they provided for free for almost a decade.

Sony only controls the exclusivity destiny of their first-party games and very, very rare 3rd-party games that are dumb enough to sign lifetime console exclusivity. ( this gen, only SFV )

Better be, since they're charging for it.

But still missing some basic features that the competitor has or is in process of implement it, like ID change, a steam like refund policy, a gift option and stable download speeds.

What I think meant more by that statement is that PSN itself is bringing a lot more revenue than it ever has. Which means more people using the service, buying things from it etc.

How long have you been using it? PSN used to go down regularly. It was literally a running joke on here (and elsewhere) for ages. I don’t even remember the last outage.

I’m not saying it’s the best service, just saying, it’s definitely been a lot worse.

Good luck to House wherever he lands next. Seemed like a nice guy, was great on stage, and definitely did a lot of good for the PlayStation brand during his tenure.

I'm indifferent. Andrew House just never had the presence of Kaz Hirai. Guess he got poached.

I'm entirely unfamiliar with this other guy.

Boyes, House, Trenton, all gone after the PS4 statement.

PROTECT SHU!

Looks like Thanos is taking no prisoners.

Always interesting to see new leadership come in, especially as we enter the back half of the generation and next gen. Hopefully Layden and Kodera can continue the success from this era into the next, which seems to rarely happen in this business.

Aw man I liked House. He was a good presenter and always came across well at E3 and such. Dkd a lot of great stuff for SIE as well. Good luck to him

Hope this new guy is just as good

Sony is doomed confirmed.

It kind of feels too short of a time frame to appoint a new CEO. House has only been in charge of SCE/SIE for 6 years, that doesn't really feel like a lot of time for a tenure. Then again, he could be planning retirement too, so there's that. Anyway, wish the new guy luck.

Man, it’s like there are so many people moving on from both Sony and Microsft. Is Miyamoto and Reggie the longest lasting heads of all 3 companies?

Is he being let go or is he leaving? His doing an amazing job to be let go.
Do we know if his leaving Sony completely? Lots of questions need answering lol

Wonder what this means for the future of PlayStation? Jack, Andrew and Adam gone, will PlayStation be able to remain as successful as it’s been over the years?

This came out of nowhere. Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do next.

It'll be pretty difficult to screw up PS5 with that much brand power.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
This is the guy who is apart of the services division? I see Sony transitioning to PSnow subscription service for PC exclusively within 5 years. The darkest timeline

It’s happened before. PlayStation and Xbox both came off highly successful gens and brand power to have some pretty terrible follow up. But here’s hoping it doesn’t happen and PS5 is as successful as PS4 has been.

House was great, did a lot of good things in the position.

Hopefully new blood in the spot means some welcome improvements and fresh ideas.

One would have thought the same of the PS3, but hey. That system was way more sluggish than it had any right to be.

We're living in a post-PS3 world though. They can't afford to repeat that mistake and like I said, it'd be really difficult.

Like, they're not going to spend billions of dollars developing an exotic CPU again. There's no disc format war to compete in again.

Sad to see some of the more recognizable faces leaving Sony these last few years, but it was bound to happen. Wish him the best with whatever he's doing next.

Oh boy, this will be hard to swallow. I will really miss Andrew House. I really appreciated Sony's people not going DUDEBRO and letting the games do the talk (on stage), and I hope Kodera will keep the same line.

I really wish him good luck whatever he's doing next.
