And of course a local popular tech page went with "Street Fighter V just announced a new version. What will happen to the owners of the original version? Find out here!" for their Facebook post of their article. Yeah, people will simply read that caption and assume the worst.

Well, looks like another long-time SF fan can finally invest in the latest game. Looks like a lot of what I expected, though the various forms of Arcade Mode are a nice touch, and I wonder what gameplay changes, moves, properties will be altered for what was. Really hoping all the characters and changes are on-disc and not codes to be downloaded.

More importantly, I hope Capcom never makes enough questionable decisions like they have with a release of a game like they did with vanilla V to keep me away from a game I wanted to get for this long.

And thank Garlador for describing again why guys like us we're waiting for this.

While I didn't mind the missing Arcade mode, the launch back then was more than disappointing.
As an SF fan it's just natural you want it to be best. It should be THE fighting game that should put forth the most effort to eclipse others.

AE seems to be a good effort so far.
But I'm still worried about the possibility of lacking in-game CPT Esports support, giving it more visibility. There are a lot of things they could do like CPT footage in attract mode, a "road to CPT" world tour mode, direct links to tournament footage, CPT tab in CFN, etc.

Interested to find out what the 2nd V-Systems are for everyone. I did not enjoy cammy in 5 (She's my main in 2 and 4) so hopefully they give her something that makes her more fun for how I like to play.

If Injustice 2 didn't launch with an arcade mode, I think NRS would be 100% fine.

Just sayin.

Facts. Arcade modes don't sell games, because nobody really likes playing them really. But if it ain't there, it's a Free Hate Pass for anybody who wants to talk shit.

Fuck that would be so good. Even if it was an in-game tab.

Another V will not change your mind.

isn't it a mode? Like they showed mika's vskill being a chair swing instead of a body slam in one screenshot. (Her meter isn't used up at all) What if the changes are more than just swapping out one of the V moves and it's a whole new set of V's? (It's been a while, so i forgot what V is what move)

The thing about Arcade mode was simply that instead of having it they had the crappy story chapters and a survival mode. If they scrapped both and just had an arcade mode with the art from the story at the end, the game would have been better off.

Arcade is kinda pointless and boring, but that's still better then the story/survival combination which was legit awful.

Game would have still been barebones, but it would have softened the blow significantly imo.

They could do a ton of stuff in a potential "road to Capcom Cup" mode too. Imagine helping beginners with basic tutorials from frame data, footsies, setups, etc. in an organic way by utilizing a story going from a nobody to hometown hero to Capcom Cup champion.
Maybe even using known CPT guys like a manga-fied(like in the Daigo Manga) Tokido, Alex Valle or Justin Wong as cameo coaches.

EDIT: Considering their focus on the CPT, it's the most disappointing thing. I mean they potentially have tons of entertainment material in their hands. The way Dota 2 does it, is something they should also aspire as a baseline.

I don't think SFV GAF is the right group to be talking about what's important to the masses.

I'd say the chances are slim to none that you'll get a major release of Street Fighter titled "Good animations edition"

Probably, because even with a missing arcade mode, it would've featured a 28 character roster with a high production quality story mode with varying difficulty settings from day 1. But I may be replying to one of those "only because it's capcom" posts.

I mean the Cammy grab is atrocious but the rest of the game is fine animations wise. That post is hyper bait.

I didn't say they were bad. I'm saying that kind of work doesn't sell fighting games, yet everyone seems to care so much about them here.

You can have a game full of cammy air throws it's not going to make a difference.

Umm, that doesn't exactly help your case, I think?
Is there supposed to be a difference in those two pics?
Yeah, two large differences.
It's her unnecessary straps and longer bangs

uhh why wouldn't it be....it was also already in the trailer...

Capcom Unity post didn't mention PC at all (at least when it was first posted, I haven't re-checked). While it was in the trailer, I couldn't watch it at the time, so my inner cynic said they were dropping it because of how the PC version's been treated

The literal Arcade Edition is running on a modified PC version.

aside from not getting playstation themed colours, tell me again how the superior version of the game has been "treated"?

Are you comparing it to GG/DBZF? Because if you're setting it next to a NRS fighter the animation quality is like a hundred times better on a purely technical level, and Tekken is riddled with terrible animations leftover from the Chunky Legoman Fighter era of the series.

I'm not sure if this is old news, but the Japanese site says that each Extra Battle attempt costs Fight Money. It reaffirms that you can unlock costumes in the mode, too.

SFV has better animation than every fighter ever made.

Disregard what I said. I forgot where I was.

Mmm it's cool we got double triggers, but I wanted more to be honest. I wanted second supers, and a rework on how buttons combo into another. Basically I wanted it to be a bit more execution heavy like SF4/SF3.

Great value, but too many hot fighters out now with much better gameplay.

This game would be dead if the pro scene dropped it, but that money brew...

I'd personally put Xrd on a higher level, if only because while their technical specifications are admittedly very different, there are a lot of things visually that both developers were trying to do that are directly analogous ("impactful" frame-to-frame style animation rather than hyper-realistic/smooth animation, focus on iconic keyframes of animation, etc.).

I can see how the argument can be made that what they're doing is different enough they aren't 100% comparable, though.
