I didnt expect Argentina to draw today. hahahahhahahaha

they NEED to win the next match. Gonna be fun if they dont qualify while having Messi in the squad.

If they draw they can only be above Peru (if Peru loses), but Paraguay is probably winning against Venezuela so bye bye Argentina. I dont think Brazil will let Chile win, so if Argentina wins they are probably 4th, but might even finish in the 5th position.

This is so incredible, we (Chile) were 6th prior to all these matches and now we are 3rd. MADNESS, PURE MADNESS.

The worst part? during those last matches, everything will change in a way that NOBODY can predict.

Just thinking about all the possible results gives me a headache (and a pre heart attack).

People keep talking about how Messi is let down by his team mates but dude struck the post. He’s just as culpable as the rest.

Except Romero. Romero deserves a better NT.

At least the last match Ecuador will be the home team so no more of this nonsense of "Boca or River" that has no place in the national team.

Sampaoli must hate Dybala.

To be fair, under different coaches Dybala never really did anything on the national team.

A real meltdown in Argentina, like REAL meltdown. Those guys are serious business when it comes to football, in a "my life depends on this!!" way.

This the national team, not a club. The journalists that'd likely miss the world cup, well that's another story.

It's his last real chance to win it. Dude will be 35 in Qatar and Argentina shows no generational relay.

There're players that could be material in the future if they don't throw them into the fire in these matches.

Feel like Peru will miss out. Either Paraguay or Argentina will jump above them.

I think Ecuador will beat Argentina, for these reasons:

- Argentina is not showing a great football.
- The pressure they will feel above their shoulders is something that it can't be described. In this very same moment people is destroying the team in every damn newspaper comment section.
- They will play in a city with a shit ton of meters above the sea level and humidity, and Argentina's players always, always have a hard time playing well in those conditions.

- I think Brasil will beat us. Maybe if there's a planetary alignment we can manage to tie.
- Perú vs Colombia will be another heart attack inducing match.
- Most probably Paraguay will beat Venezuela.

Because he hit the post & was unlucky? lol

Did you not see all the clear-chances Messi created?

Unlucky? So just like Biglia, Benedetto, "Papu" Gomez, Rigoni, hell even Mascherano was unlucky based on that. And that was on this match alone.

He’s unlucky because his teammates can't finish any of the chances he serves them on a silver platter.

I kinda agree, while I do think Messi is victim of the pressure too and because of that a lot of times he doesn't perform at his peak, the rest of the team, as a whole, explains a lot why he doesn't succeed with his NT.

I would agree he's unlucky if that was the whole story, but the reality is that he isn't the only one who creates chances, he doesn't score his chances either and appears to run out of gas when he has to do a free kick or a corner kick.

But of course now Higuaín isn't here to blame and likely is laughing his ass at home.

I mean, he isn’t the only one who creates, but he definitely created the best chances today: I counted around 8 & 3 of them were probably qualified as big chances. If he didn’t have major bottlers up front, those would’ve gone in. Benedetto alone missed three of those I’m pretty sure

You’re right that he probably doesn’t take as many clean shots as he does for Barca. Think Sampaoli addressed that before the game, that Messi has dropped too deep & isn’t in the good goalscoring positions. Just burdens himself with too much of the creativity & tries to be the main passer.

Yeah, this definitely isn’t Messi at his best. Probably took the worst shot I’ve ever seen today. Think he just tries to do too much & isn’t in the positions he needs to be, or is usually at for Barca.

Alexis has the same habits as well

Sampaoli is tripping with the same stone that others had before(and he's already done it more than once) in which they don't realize that Messi ends up going down because they mark him differently than how he's marked in Europe(key word is different not neccesarily better), seeing how for several years we've been told that the game should move around him, considering the whole marking issue it ends up being counterproductive, because it results with Messi too far from the box, in addition to Messi somewhat hogging the ball a little too much on the national team(he isn't the worst offender of this though) however when he passes the ball there's a multitude of players upfront the ball might end up going back to him and so on in an endless circle until an eventual chance comes up either by him or anybody else not aided by the fact that it would seem that anybody that tries to score on the national team gets cursed. Back to Sampaoli, not just himself but people doesn't realize that playing bunker in South America tends to be more effective than in Europe, and that happens to Argentina in the majority of the matches in the qualifiers, hell even Brazil at home did that for a little while at the beginning of the match, but as the match ended 3-0 that ended up being somewhat forgotten, yet if even for a few minutes Brazil at home did that then chances are the majority of the teams will. I believe there could be a sollution if Messi is willing to spend less time being the passer and creator and simply just carry the mark away, that MIGHT work. Although in general could be concluded that all these players don't play as a team for the most part.

"playing" dumb? unpossible
So what happens if Argentina doesn't qualify for the World Cup
C.Ronaldo unquestionably becomes the best player of his generation. On par with goals and assists (812), Messi has 5 Ballon d’Or and 3 Champions League trophies, and Ronaldo has 4 Ballon d’Or and 4 Champions League trophies. But Ronaldo has a national trophy against top level teams (none of that weak Olympic garbage).

Conveniently left out that Messi did that in 155 less games I see, or that he nearly single handeldy carried Argentina to the WC finals. Neat.

Regardless, no, this by no means that Ronaldo unquestionably becomes the best. It’s convenient to say now, but no.

If Peru wins against Colombia 1-0 , Brazil wins against Chile 2-0 or more, Argentina loses in Quito and Paraguay wins against Venezuela both Chile and Argentina will be out of the World Cup

Do not despair Argentinian( Argentine? Well, Argentinos for sure :p) and Chilean friends:

Btw, there should be more South American teams in the WC. I know that 5 out of 10 is a lot, but when you compare these teams with other national teams... :/ When is the next round of the qualifying? I want to watch it live.

I agree that Europe should have less teams in the WC but I wouldnt add more SA teams. More African+Asian teams would be the way to go Imo.

lol what? Messi wasn't even the best player in that team, but unfortunately his dick was jammed too far into FIFA's mouth for anyone to notice. Or rather how they make more money by Ronaldo/Messi being the beneficiary to everything. That team won due to an elite defense, Messi had some nice playmaking moments here and there. It was the worst best player of the tournament win I've ever seen. That team won due to an elite defense. Dude scored ZERO goals in the knock out stages. Zero. Zero.

Even if Paraguay wins 1-0?

If so, damn... this looks extremely complicated for us (Chile)

lmfao, that is a nice conspiracy, I’ll give you that.

Nice playmaking moments? The guy created the most clear cut chances in that tourney as well. He also assisted the game winning goal vs Belgium in the knockouts

Argentina struggled to get past that group stages, let alone the knockout stages. Without Messi’s crucial 4 goals & 3 MotM performances, they wouldn’t even have gotten out. That’a simply a fact.

It's not a conspiracy, (FIFA) they get more cash the more revered both of them are. Nobody gives a fuck about the group stage except for embarrassing Messi stans like yourself. If you would have written "remember how x player killed in the champions league group stage" in specific year to state how great they were throughout the tourney, you would have had people posting gifs laugh at how stupid that shit sounds.

Messi played really overall but wasn't the best player or anywhere near the top 5 (Mascherano was the best Argentian player).

I just hope he gets our defence back to Guardiola levels, then even this terribly bad build and overaged squad might win something.
Dude had Bayern playing much better D with Dante leading that team than Pep. Dante -_-

Argentina is shit as it depends too much on Messi. And also, because the only good player from Argentina is their frontline while the defender and midfielder is trash.

If Argentina wanted to grow stronger, they should start slowing down on how much they can depend on Messi and start to remember than Football is played by 11 player.

Yeah, you keep going with that then

Nobody gives a fuck about the group stages in a world cup? That's a new one. Messi was also brilliant vs Belgium, but let's just dismiss that, eh. Context is probably key here, since ya know, without his goals they wouldn't have reached the quarters.

What's actually embarrassing is you honestly believing he wasn't a top 5 player in that tourney. I mean, really? Mascherano was consistent all throughout for sure though, but Messi was still more important overall.
