Star Ocean 4 4K/HD remaster coming to PS4 and PC in Japan

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Eww no thanks. Gimme Infinite Undiscovery port instead.

I'd take a Last Remnant port actually because well it was supposed to come out on PS3. :/

Perhaps on PC people can mod away the horrible characters and cutscenes?

This should be a serious candidate for the most improved game ever just if removed those

Gee guys which should we port RoF or SO4? SO4.

Give me a break.

RoF is such an underrated game... :(
It was my favorite J-RPG of last gen.

I'd say SO4 was what I imagined from SO: actual space travel. None of the other SO games fulfilled my desire for interplanetary travel. Minus the cutscenes of course.

Even if too much time was spent on the main planet of SO3, it also made us travel through the galaxy and had a strong sci-fi aspect in the last third.
But yeah, for this space travel aspect, SO4 was one the best of the series with SO3.

I'd rather get a remaster of this than SO5, honestly.
The real question is though, why are they starting at 4? What about 1-3?

Star Ocean 5 was my first SO game, and I actually didn't mind it. Major flaws aside, had some fun with the combat similar to FF12, where you set up your team and then just watch them kill stuff.

The fact this is coming to PC is the big news. Hopefully it gets announced for the west too.

Oh.
My.
God.

The only thing they need to remaster in this game is the entire script. And the characters models. And the animations. 'Kay ?

They already did 3 not that long ago.

I'm not even sure I'd wish SO4 on Trump. I mean, probably, but I'd have to think long and hard about asking for something so evil to happen to even an evil person.

Yeah ok but if you skip the cut-scenes, SO4 is actually a good Star Ocean, with multiple planets, a lot of locations, dungeons and content.

SO5 felt so small and had no sense of a grand scale and epic adventure. That's really bad for a Star Ocean.
Yeah, SO4 has solid gameplay. But I'm not going to replay it just for that. I'd replay SO2 instead.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope 4K/HD remaster is releasing on PS4 and PC in Japan on November 28 for 2800 yen. It's the international version of the game. PS4 Pro can play it in up to 4K, base PS4 "full HD". It has a photo mode function where you can remove the UI and take screenshots. Trophy and Steam achievement support.

It's a bit on the nose maybe, but does this mean that it'll be in English aswell? I know the international version had Japanese in the West but does it work the other way around aswell?

Fuck yes, will buy on PC for sure.

I fucking loved SO4...I know I'm in a minority though lol.

The story and characters were terrible, but it had a great sondtrack and the gameplay was fun. Absolutely will be there day 1 on PC for this.

I feel Star Ocean is (was) one the most overrated series.

I played the first one on PSP and found it mediocre at best. IV was pretty bad, V a turd.

I'm not sure, it doesn't say.

After some Googeling, it looks hopeful! This was for the ps3 version

http://www.siliconera.com/2009/09/1...e-international-is-extremely-import-friendly/

''Square Enix is raising the bar for their ”international" editions, which usually have English voice acting and Japanese subtitles. Star Ocean: The Last Hope International also includes English subtitles.

On top of that, this scan from Famitsu says players will be able to choose French, German, and other text options from a menu. You can also choose either English or Japanese voice acting. And since the PlayStation 3 is region free Star Ocean: The Last Hope International is probably the most import friendly Japanese RPG to date.''

And from play-asia: https://www.play-asia.com/star-ocean-the-last-hope-international-ultimate-hits/13/70458x

''In addition to English and Japanese voice options, the PlayStation 3 system version will include English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese language options for STAR OCEAN fans around the world''

Ocarina of Time quality compared to the awful Star Ocean 5.

Eeeeeh. I mean the protagonist is Edge Maverick...

Then again, I couldn't even tell you what the fuck the guy in SO5 was called.

I have no idea why they haven't released the PS4 version of 2 in English yet.

I enjoyed star ocean IV to an extent but my lord some of the character scenes were so awkward it was painful. Also the faces my god the faces. And I would like to forget Lymle exists 'kay.

Luckily the bulk of the main story stuff was decent.

Honestly, would have rather have seen V it's a significantly better game and cast.

2 is the only good game in the series.
I would rather play 4 than 1 or 3, at least.

I agree that Resonance of Fate(Best Tri-Ace game I've played) should be remastered, but Infinite Undiscovery can die in a fire.
I've never played a Valkyrie Profile game, so I don't know what I'm missing.

You're missing out on two of tri-Ace's best games of all time and two of the best RPGs of all time, imo.

It's sad to see their best IP relegated to mobile. Valkyrie Profile is miles better than Star Ocean :(

Ugh not so hyped for this but dang if I did not beat it twice for its addicting combat.

Terrible characters though and nonsense story (though better than 3, fight me) Heck all of them after two have the same issue of crap story and characters, but fun gameplay.

Hoping for a PC port of 5 simply to play it, enjoying the gatcha grind of Abnemesis or w/e its called for the last week as well. Hopefully the series is not dead cause out of every game ive played in my life I don't think one has more "potential" to be great than the premise of Star Ocean.

I don't know why but my mind read Resonance of Fate for PC and I was happy for a second. Must be because of those ports from Sega.

I know I played through and finished this.... But I cannot for the life of me remember anything about the game other than the fact that Lymle was annoying. Weird I usually remember bad JRPG plots, this one is just gone.

Screw the haters. I'm so down for this :)

My favorites are SO3 and SO4 since they have the best gameplay and OST so I'm good with this.

Here I hope this will be available in the west!
