Not feeling that involved or engaged in the Star Wars universe anymore, still liking the discussion of fan theories and speculation, I just went ahead and googled around for leaks. I'm not going to recite them here and obviously there is no way of actually confirming them. If they are true however then I'm actually ok with how they written the story. There are some weird aspects to some of that and you can actually see anectotal evidence of it being true in the trailer... but still, I think I could live with that. Not exactly mind bending stuff but could be way worse.

This is not supposed to start a leak discussion, I'm not going to post anything here (pm if you want to know details and don't want to google around yourself, for whatever reason)

I was contemplating not watching TLJ on the big screen this time because I feared that I would only get another pseudo sequel (which was TFA for me, an entertaining but utterly predictable ANH clone). Now I am kinda curious to see if the leaks are true and how it will play out on the screen.

Most of the leaks this time are just 4chan nonsense. This isn't like TFA. No one really knows the plot of this movie as of yet. The starwarsleaks subreddit is a barren wasteland compared to how things were with TFA.

Or shit, maybe he was on Coruscant when it got destroyed in TFA.

TFA really portrayed this poorly. Coruscant wasn't destroyed. It were the core government worlds of the New Republic; these were, at least for movie goers, both introduced and destroyed in about 20 seconds. A lot of people thought it was Coruscant because that's the only government planet they know. They should have introduced the whole New Republic a lot better.

I don't know what it means, but it's noteworthy that Kathy went from saying this in October 2015 (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/star-wars-force-awakens-kathleen-828680):
"The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga," she explains. "The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story. The Anthology films offer opportunities to explore fresh characters, new storylines and a variety of genres inside the Star Wars universe."

To this, earlier in the year (https://www.fandango.com/movie-news...r-saga-will-continue-past-episode-ix-752161):
“I certainly foresee movies past nine,” she said. “Whether or not we carry on the Skywalker saga… you know, George always intended nine movies, and whether we continue that or not is something we’re talking about right now. If the story warrants it, we’ll absolutely do it. If it actually inspires new ideas, then we’ll probably head in that direction. We just don’t know yet.”

Now, from that Hollywood Reporter piece, we know Kylo Ren had yet to be revealed to be Ben Solo.

Nah, Lando is a senior executive or administrator now who's mostly morally straight, I reckon. Or shit, maybe he was on Coruscant when it got destroyed in TFA. I'd really like him to come back, but Star Wars has trouble giving more than one black guy a share of the limelight at a time.

That was Hosnian Prime, not Coruscant.

I don't believe I've ever actually read that second quote. Very interesting.

I honestly hope they throw out Skywalkers altogether for a new trilogy. We've had enough. Though that doesn't mean Rey cannot be involved somehow.

I think it was Rey's Survival Guide that mentioned that there were stories about Han and Chewie told across the galaxy that portrayed Chewie as the hero and Han as his bumbling sidekick.

I mean, Chewie never got captured by bounty hunters and encased in carbonite, needing an elaborate plan to rescue him. Seems like something that would happen to a sidekick. Just saying...

I think its so her family recognizes her when they return to Jakku. Her cutting of the buns signifies that she has moved on (insert Maz quote here). Mix that in with some JW music and you got an stew cooking.

Keep in mind how awesome the trailer is..

And this is all without the brilliance of JW

"Those who understand music theory are sitting in awe of John the Master"

adam driver is so utterly out of place in this series.

I cringe every time I see him.

What

No he does a great job as Kylo. And his line in the trailer is great
