This isn't new info, or a new take, but it is what it is; developers, publishers, and players have expressed the desire for crossplay, to the point where technical implementation is already set up in advance. The business side of it benefits games and publishers. The engineering is a non-issue this generation, and unless you're an evangelical for one platform or the other, it's a benefit to players of all stripes.
Some people get frustrated when Spencer is asked this question in interviews and he answers it. There can't even be the accusation that it's a misleading answer. It's like the situation itself frustrates them, but it would be difficult for them to emotionally reconcile the events with the figures, so they deflect or prevaricate. If Sony's reasoning for their policy is sound, they should communicate it. All we have so far is something that's not a stretch to call a lie.
