A thought I had that wasn't quite thread-worthy is finding a historical parallel to the First Order. The First Order is like the Italian Social Republic that arose in Italy after Mussolini was overthrown by the Monarchy (and non-fascist authoritarian conservatives). Basically it set a stark contrast between the "real" Fascists, and authoritarians who simply followed Mussolini because he was powerful. General Hux and his acolytes were the people who really believed in the mission of the Empire, while those who made the peace with the New Republic were the ones who were just interested in power for its own sake.
Its a contrast you often find in Totalitarian systems. Those who drank the kool-aid versus those who were just in it for the power and control. Generally if a dictatorship lasts long enough, it will be taken over by the latter group, but the former group will always exist, and in the First Order we saw those people create their own insurgency because they felt so betrayed, just like the Italian Social Republic.
The Resistance is the flipside of this. To draw a noble example, they're like the International Brigade during the Spanish Civil War, foreign fighters willing to stand up and take the fight against Fascism straight to them when official government bodies were unwilling to intervene.
So it's interesting to see them sort of play out the Nazi Germany parallel that was put around the Galactic Empire and creating a movement that is a parallel to a realistic Fascist splinter movement, along with making the Resistance these sort of extranational "foreign fighters." It's a way to build the core conflict of the original trilogy without making it the same "rebels vs oppressive government" story.

I kinda want Rey and Kylo to bone now, just for the meltdowns. Some wild dark side screwing.
It's gotta be Yoda. And he was digitally deleted from the Rey lightsaber training sequence in the trailer, but in the final version her swings are her trying to fight a Force ghost version of Yoda bouncing all over the place.
(You could be right! I still have my theory that Rey and Ben are siblings, and that together they are mega powerful and have the raw strength he is talking about, and so Luke had them separated and trained Ben to control his power, ultimately failing. And so Kylo and Rey together is his ultimate fear.)

I feel like pairing a black guy with a white main lady is a whole different ballpark than female main leads though. Like, a different kind of level altogether. Especially in such a massive cultural force franchise like Star Wars.
Just for that alone I dearly wish Finn x Rey will be a thing
other than it's fucking cute as hell, I mean come onnnn

Either they are saving it for a big reveal in the movie or Luke abandoned it and became a destructive bastion of Force energy. Hoping for the latter.

If this thing happened I will never question anyone in charge of Star Wars ever again. Even if they make a Jar Jar movie. It would be perfection for me.
I want Finn × Rey so bad. It's actually surprising how much I want it. Heck if Draper keeps posting his fan art I'll retaliate with some Finn × Rey but that might lock the thread.

Well I knowww..... but surely you can't deny the impact a franchise as massive as Star Wars can have for that kind of thing, you know, like it will make such a huge conversation around it I am sure, much more so than perhaps any other movie or media franchise in the world right now.
