Xenoblade 2 official Japanese twitter account and website thread

Fall damage seems to be back. Music and environments are really nice too.
The town seems like it's pretty well done.

Seems like the characters might be a bit chatty. They ain't no Ryan time either

Here's more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2upJSkchtU

They are fighting an enemy that's 4 levels higher than them early on.

Well, you know it's a Xenoblade game for sure. Chatty party members in combat is about as much a hallmark of the series as stunning vistas, Nopon and level "you're already dead" enemies in the first area roaming about.

More music, atmosphere, and environments looking so good. The wait's getting rough!

I think Takahashi did talk about Rakuen Tsuihou/Expelled from Paradise and how Saito's art worked well with the 3D in that anime and that's why he chose him as the lead artist for Xeno 2 as he was trying to make more appealing 3D models.

Anyway, Sawano was perfect for Xeno X. His mecha stuff is simply top notch and was amazing in X. Nothing beats the feeling of using your overdrive and listening to wir fliegen.

Believe in Takahashi.

Yeah. I remember that being mentioned as well.

Agreed.
Overall I really liked the music. Yeah a couple of tracks could have been placed better by the sound director or updated for new ones more over time, but there's a lot of amazing tracks.

There's a whole lot of gorgeousness in the new footage!

shouts out to lordcrump at gamefaqs for this pic.

He spend about an hour of XC2. Walked through the belly of the titan level and one of the towns.
"What I played was amazing"
"I loved what I played"

Mentions a concern about the UI being cluttered, but they didn't play with the simplified UI option.

I wonder how the game will turn out. I imagine it's not going to sell well since Nintendo doesn't seem to know how to sell it.
It's going to need stellar word of mouth/reviews which I'm not entirely sure it'll get just yet.

New Famitsu scans are out, showing off artwork for the common Blades. Art for the Torna members we have seen so far can also be seen, along with their names.

The masked Torna member is "Shin" while the black-haired one is "Metsu," with both names potentially having some religious connotations to them.

(And in case anyone is interested, Shin is voiced by Sakurai Takahiro and Metsu is voiced by Nakamura Yuuichi)

Of course they would get Cloud to voice the Nomura-designed Cloud-esque character.

Glad to see so few trash mobs in this area. Enemies are more than capable of killing you. Just gotta build your blades properly and combo them well and manage the mass of information while timing everything well. The Town looks great too which seems to be a trend here. The secrets looked great. Jumping seems a bit fiddly without grabbing ledges.

It really looks like they took the lessons from Xenoblade X, the lessons from the original and combined them both here.

And god is Uraya and Fonsa Myma's day and night themes so good.

Plus now that I'm hearing the voices, they're growing on me which is good. It's adorable that Poppi has a monotone voice with the speech pattern of a Nopon.

Man this game looks visually so attractive. I hope the combat lives up to the franchise name. I've been, not worried, but maybe....interested?....in some of the videos I've seen so far and it has me wondering.

Hopefully I have time to try this game out before the end of the year. Such a crowded few months for gaming.

Whew, just a month and a half to go. Now that we can hear more of the voices, I feel like the voice work could grow on me. Still hoping for a japanese audio option though.

It's all from the same area they've shown a bunch, but no one talking over it. Now you can here the gorgeous music and battle banter.

EDIT: A minute too late I see.

Damn, this game looks great visually. Everyone who said this game looked bad graphically has it wrong. And yep, this definitely looks like a Xenoblade game. Can't wait to play this, this area in particular looks great at nighttime.

Yep, looks really nice. The rendering and shading on the enemies and characters is a big step up from the first two and the lighting in the environments and colors are a nice step up from X which had baked lighting and dull colors.

Hoping for a late resolution bump like Odyssey.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
I really loved how much more involved the town is, speaking of which, since previews are coming out, shouldnt we make a thread for it?

Hmm, well visually the game looks so much improved over the course of the year. Anyone who thinks this game looks worse than the previous installments needs to get their eyes checked.

As for the voices, they sound fine to me. The only one who I guess could start to get annoying is Tora's (his "Spiniiiiing Cutterrrr!" for instance is highly repetetive), which I guess makes sense given that seems to be the main trait of Nopon characters (yes, I thought Riki got annoying too at times).

My one big pet peeve is that they seem to have indeed changed the unique monster music. I much preferred the previous version that was heard at Gamescom, which I felt was more energetic and felt like a good successor to "You will know our Names". The current music sounds subdued in comparison.

For what it's worth, to me at least it feels like fall damage is more forgiving this time around, in the demo they are like level 17 or so? So by late game YOU should be able to jump off airplanes and still survive.

That footage looked good and the music sounds amazing! This is definitely a Xenoblade game alright by the chatty battles (for better or worse), outstanding music and great looking vistas.

Can't wait for this game!

weird that we haven't seen gameplay clips of cutscenes. It'd be nice to get the cinematic direction in a start to finish cutscene.

Xeno games have so many I'm sure they could find a throwaway one that wasn't spoilery

We had some out-of-context parts of cutscenes on the last E3 trailer. We'll probably see a bit more but that will probably of the same format.

Chatty battle is a series trademark?

For better or worse. :p I actually enjoyed the banter, but I can see others hating it easily

I was more saying that battles with a bunch of banter and chatting are well known to be in Xenoblade games. That's why certain lines from past games (mostly Xenoblade Chronicles) became memes like "Reyn Time" and such.

Beautiful vistas, chatty battles, snappy movement, long falls, and NPCs fading into existence 15 feet away from the player. This sure is a Xenoblade game.

Have we gotten confirmation on whether the NPC relationship tree is back?

yeah that's why I said start to finish.

Just to see an average not major cutscene. Xeno X's basic cutscenes were static at times. In a jrpg you're always going to have them, but still.

Chatty battles is how I know what everyone is doing attack wise, HP, dead, etc

(and when I don't notice a chain attack is ready, Dunban is sure to remind)
