Violet Evergarden
Darling in the FranXX
Fate/Extra
Grancrest Senki
Pop Team Epic
Cardcaptor Sakura

Not to mention shows with possibility such as:
Hakumei to Mikochi
Koi wa Ameagari
Kokkoku
Beatless(being hopeful)

There’s also the Narag bait as well with Killing Bites.

Violet Evergarden looks gorgeous and somewhat interesting. I'll definitely watch that.
I haven't watched Cardcaptor Sakura since I was 12. I remember liking it even though it's probably full of Mahou Shoujo tropes :p

The rest I'll watch out for. Thank you for the list.

Well, this season I'm watching

Garo - Vanishing Line
Ancient Magus' Bride
Children of the Whales
Land of the Lustrous
Kekkai Sensen S2
UQ Holder (mostly out of morbid curiosity tho)

Might get back to Juuni Taisen if later episodes will shake things up a little.

Seems fine to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I feel like I have too much to watch this season, especially Saturdays.

Osomatsu
Juni Taisen
Inuyashiki (for now)
Mahoujin Guru Guru
Children of the Whales
LL Sunshine S2
Hoozuki no Reitetsu s2
3gatsu s2
Dragon Ball Super
Ancient Magus Bride
Gintama

Need to catch up/get started on -

Land of the Lustrous
Girls Last Tour

Honestly of those titles I would only consider Magus/Land/Children to be particularly high level. Even then I have issues with all three.

I'm watching a lot of shows but I can't say there is a show this season that I'm super excited for each new episode like I was with My Hero Academia or Made in Abyss last season.

I think Kino might be my fav so far.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Yep, this.

I've been burnt too many times in the past to allow myself to get hyped for anything anymore. I now just assume that every anime that airs is going to be mediocre, so that if it actually turns out to be decent then it will be a pleasant surprise.

Are there many anime which you have absolutely no issues with? I can’t say that for myself, at least. I don’t feel like getting into a list war right now, but I can’t say I feel bored or disappointed with the current state of anime at large. (Well, I continue to be disappointed with the messiness of the industry, but good works continue to get made despite that.)

Kings game is absolute babbage. I couldn't finish the most recent episode. Then there's evil or live another show full of dispicable high schoolers. Crunchy has some real stinkers this season. I don't think ive found a weekly show i can watch this seaaon yet.

It's pretty dull tbh.

Girls' Last Tour and Children of the Whales are interesting I guess.

My biggest problems with Euphonium S2 were that Mizore’s arc was the ultimate in pointless non-communication and that Reika’s crush on Taki was handled rather awkwardly, so if those have been removed from the movie it should make for a much stronger work.

What did you think of Asuka's story. I think you talked about it but my memory escapes me.

From your list, the underlined is what I'm watching. I can't be bothered with anything else.

I was posting on the last thread that this season is terrible, but there's a lot of stuff I really like and I feel they have potential. Much more than I was expecting actually.

Land of the Lustrous is the biggest surprise for me, as I absolutely love it. Hopefully it won't suffer from an incomplete ending, as if I recall correctly, the manga isn't over yet and it's quite long. Also, I know that not a lot of people here liked Garo Vanishing Line's debut, but I think the second episode managed to reassure me that it can get better. It still has its weaknesses but I like the setting and the characters.

That said, Winter will be crazy.

Nice! More focus on Kumiko and Asuka sounds perfect.

Yeah I’m quite happy with Garo too. I’m not as sold on Land of the Lusturous, as I found the main character kind of annoying, but other members of the cast are winning me over.

Looking ahead at all the shows I'm going to be previewing over the next week, I get the feeling I'll be recommending more than I did the last couple of seasons, and even I think next season looks better than this one. It's weird how clusters of good shows seem to come in waves (perhaps that has more to do with the way production committees approve and schedule a majority of shows these days).

Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou I was in need for romance like this, cute and funny, the VA for Usa was really cool and the romance parts were sincere, like how Usa is kinda annoying and ritsu manages to straight him up. But of course, there were 2 episodes in the middle of the show that started throwing around jokes i was not comfortable with and had half of an episode on sexual harassment, while it wasn't as bad as it tends to, it had some things that could've been handled better. I need more good romcom's.

A Centaur's Life This was just ok, not a waste of time, but i wouldn't go out of my way to recommend to people. And just what was ep9 ?

i also watched Love Live! School Idol Project S1, but i'll wait until i finish S2 to try to write something about it, for now, all i can't say is that the first seconds (intro) of the OP song is too similar to trails of cold steel op song when the guitar kicks in, just the first bars of the intro phrase.

Girls' Last Tour Episode 3:

Well then, we get an crucial answer to a central question this week and thus the series then really does go down the road of Kino's Journey by then have the episode be framework to meditate on the nature of life in some fashion.

Sakura Quest 1-12

Its okay. Obvious comparison but its no Shirobako. Fair play trying to give each girl an arc but show definitely lacks a strong central lead atm. I guess their end goal is bit daft/intangible too.

Little Witch Academy 1-8

Its a solid alright. That's about it. That sucy episode was 10/10 though

Nice that people remembered Kawaisou. Also has one of fhana's best songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIRAOr8WbXY

Watching multiple new shows at once is something I always avoid. Prefer to keep in touch with one series or watch other ones later when it is finished and opinions have been settled. Main reason I still keep in touch with the genre.

Only 2017 series I watched so far was LWA.

Recovery of an MMO Junkie 1-3

Pretty enjoyable actually. Though the "twist" at the end of episode 3 was the most obvious shit ever from the very start of the show

Girls' Last Tour 3

Oh wow, we actually get some answers. It seems this is an artificial world, which explains the lack of life. Other people are alive. Few in number, and not all necessarily nice considering the girls' initial reactions, but not necessarily bad either. Resources are scarce, but not so scarce that people start competing with each other right away. There was also some nice contemplation this episode about what to live for. I like how each episode has a theme thus far. Great show thus far, and one I'd recommend.

Now that I cannot do, due to said discomfort, to the point where I don't even want to recommend it to others. It's a shame, as it would've easily "won" my #1 spot otherwise.
Also Konosuba was hilarious af anyhow
But again, yes, I can't deny that it was very well made.
Yeah, I can't blame anyone for not feeling comfortable giving it as a recommendation when the squicky bits are so... squicky. Especially the hot spring scene feels gratuitous (and out-of-character in the case of Nanachi) - there were any number of ways they could have given us a 'winding down' moment without resorting to that. Just one of the many ways you can tell the author is into certain things...
A teenager or young adult can also lack experience as a cave raider. Heck, an adult can too. I doubt all the people living in that town have descended into the abyss.
The problem with that is that you'd have to completely rewrite her background, as it's a huge plot point that
everything that comes from the Abyss inevitably returns to the Abyss.
Given the nature of her fascination with the Abyss, it would actually be more difficult to swallow her ignoring or somehow resisting that compulsion when, frankly, children are quite impulsive by nature and there's no way for an orphanage to police their kids to the extent that she'd be effectively grounded.

I actually like how tightly woven the primary duo is with the Abyss and think anything that would compromise that would be a net negative for the series. Now, obviously, that's not to say that I hold any particular attachment to the way they're drawn - like any illustrated work of fiction, they could very easily have simply made them look older without affecting the story in any way. (I still laugh at how Jotaro is supposed to be a high schooler in Stardust Crusaders.) It's just one of those things where the author's preferences end up informing the look of the work in a... well, a rather unfortunate fashion.

Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World - The Animated Series Episode 3:

So this episode can be boiled down to my city-state is a huge and advanced mobile fortress with a death laser, your argument is invalid. Also, this might be a story from further down the line as it changes up some pretty fundamental details about Kino as Kino stays for more then three days and gets more involved then Kino probably would on Kino's own accord.

Diary of an MMO Junkie Episode 3:

Thank you show for showing me how boring this all would have been had Sakurai been the lead, I suppose he works well enough as a potential romantic foil. Indeed, right now this is more an exploration of gender dynamics that is only going to get more complicated once was get past the identity reveal. I do hope net episode we get into the supporting cast because they need some fleshing out.

Squiddamnit, they replaced most of the English cast of Squid Girl for season 2. Cabanos is back as Squid Girl though.

it shouldn't be that surprising, it changed dub studios right?

I mean it's a low popularity, likely low selling series. You make a half hearted attempted to get everyone back, focus on the main character, and if you have to recast you have to recast.

I caught up a little with Dragon Ball Super.
The tournament arc is kinda fun. I like how minor chraracters get their moments as well. Especially Muten Roshi.
The show is really easy to binge watch. Other than that I still don't consider this to be anything special. They try to play with people's nostalgia and all, but it doesn't really do anything to me although I was a huge DB/DBZ fan.

Magus is trash, bro.

Well, I think that it's more accurate to say that the show feels flat. I don't feel like any part of it is particularly well executed or notable. The source material at least seems potentially interesting but the adaptation feels...stale?

Honestly the early parts of the Magus manga aren’t particularly good so I’m not really surprised it’s kinda meh. I have no clue why Port IG bet the farm on this of all things.

Later arcs are a lot better and the second cour (in Winter dohoho) should be a signicant improvement.

What I'm hearing is that I should remain excited for 2018.
I don't know. I kinda enjoy the athmosphere and I like the main characters.
The opening is excellent as well.
The characters seem fine, but I personally don't feel that the anime has executed on the 'atmosphere' particularly well (besides that one scene in the forest that was acceptable). Something about the quality of the production (especially the background art) just isn't doing it for me.
