It's nice to finally have a date. And visually it looks stunning as always.

Still have my doubts about the game though. Most of the trailers have been really story heavy and while I don't mind a more cinematic approach I hope the focus in this continues to be the combat and puzzle solving. I'm going to be optimistic and asume that they just don't want to spoil all of the cool in game moments.
If they are going the cinematic route hopefully it's more Uncharted 2 than U4/Last of us

With viewing figures rising and maybe more importantly post quality being higher than it has been for such a long time, in my opinion, there's been nothing at all to suggest what you're saying here. You're always welcome to contribute more to the community if you'd like, rather than just posting once every few months.

I am sorry but I do not feel any hype at all. Maybe it is the name. Maybe it is the direction of these trailers. But this does not feel God of War to me. Which is pretty strange since I only play games these days because of the story and characters.

Its just so huh... I really debating if I should buy this game in April or wait till its on psn+ or in some sale....

I've only played GoW fo the graphics and spectacle. Now, I still fear the combat will have gotten even worse and that the spectacle has been pulled back, but my God, they seem to have the story and character development on point this time.

To me, it feels like GoW grew up and I applaud them for it. I might care about the story this time around!

Kratos has mellowed some. Usually he just smashes down doors that stand in his way... actually he just smashes most things in his way. Its also a lot more storycentric than previous God of Wars as well, so this will be interesting. I wonder if there is any MGS2 style twists.

Your post has inspired me to play go3 again, just been checking the prices and its quite pricey for such an old ps4 game.

Yep that got me hyped despite the reservations I hold about the new direction. The combat reminds me of Darksiders more than traditional GoW. Although DS still had the hack and slash edge, it didn't have the same number of enemies that you sometimes battered with the BoC in GoW. It seemed to focus more on smaller groups of 'tougher' enemies (at least that's my experience early game in DSII Deathinitve edition).

Main concern is the axe throwing and leaving you with just the shield and fists. It would be good if you had augmented weapons like the caestus in that case?

In the trailer, you see Kratos talking to that guy who says the adventure starts by cutting off his head. So I'm guessing that is the head you take to the serpent. But in the original trailer, the serpent surfaces while he and Atreus are on the boat and the kid translates what he says (he wants to help us). I'm curious as to which order these events happen in

I'm also getting a definite 'Divine Comedy' vibe from the storyline as well, or at least 'What Dreams May Come'.

That's where I'm at. I was one who had no issues with the previous character. Yeah, he was a psychotic rage machine, but that was the perfect avatar for the on-screen action. I'll play this new one, but I'm not feeling it from what I've seen so far. I'll hope to be proven wrong.

I felt a downgrade too, but if you have the option you should definitely get the Pro. Game still looks amazing!

Yes I 3 notice slight downgrade, but giving the segmented nature of its development, its understandable. Its still a looker, but nothing we have not seen graphically this gen, playing the game may change my stance on this though.

Yeah I feel the same. Hopefully as you progress through the game the flesh the combat out more.

I'm also upset were losing the fixed camera angles. No more crazy zoomed out shots to show how massive things were compared to Kratos. Plus theirs not many games anymore that even use a fixed camera angles anymore
