I'm out, bye Xbox
Nothing to look forward to, Rare has proved they suck, 343i can't handle Halo, Gears is ok but can get it on PC, everything else is multiplayer loot box FPS galore, which I don't mind but man am I done with being jealous of the amazing SP experiences on PS4. I have never owned a PlayStation and I'm picking one up tomorrow with God of War 4, I'm jumping ship and honestly have no hope that MS will deliver on anything amazing with Xbox One anytime soon.

Joanna Dark: [3P Action, Teaser Trailer, Holiday 2019]

If you ask for my personal opinion.

I can totally see Forza Horizon 4, Anthem, Cyberpunk being real and spot on.

Although, Anthem officially currently slated for March of 2019 meanwhile this says Fall 2019. So it either got pushed back again or simply it's not true.

No fable is strange to me.

Banjo Anniversary? Is this a reboot treatment AKA Spyro and Crash style? Only thing I can think of.

Joanna Dark in 3rd person action? Could be interesting. Need more info.

Borderlands 3 sounds real.

Splinter Cell is pretty much a given at this point with ghost recons splinter cell missions and Sam fisher appearing on the Inside Xbox show.

Halo Genesis. A reboot? Swear to God they said halo 5 is a start of a new saga/trilogy unless they decided to scrap the story and really start over.

I'm actually intrigued by Halo Genesis. If it is real and if it is a reboot, I could be game. The story in Halo 5 was awful and I haven't enjoyed the story direction of the Halo Universe since 343 took over.

I 100% agree. The marketing for halo 5 was amazing but god damn it was a giant lie in the end with poop conclusion.

I've never played the original. Can someone enlighten me please on why it was such a popular/sleeper hit game? What was the gameplay premise?

Oh Let me 'splain...

Phantom Dust is my favorite game of all time.

It would take a while to explain why Phantom Dust is a sleeper hit but I will do my best.

A game created by Yukio Futatsugi (of Panzer Dragoon fame) Phantom Dust is a game that requires creativity, reflexes, knowledge of mechanics and superb situational awareness to master. People call it a action-card game but I feel that's really doesn't do it justice. Card games are methodical, like PD is, however in card games you have time to think, to plot and to decide what moves you want to make. In a Phantom Dust match, this is never a guarantee. You have to read your opponents' movements, what color skills he has, what type of character he's playing (different character have different move types that can be advantageous or not when up against certain attacks) and the layout of the map you're playing on. All this while managing your own arsenal of skills, looking out for your partner (if playing 2vs2) and deciding what loadout is best for the current situation. In the Phantom Dust community your reputation follows you. The game is designed in a way where you become known for the types of arsenals you play. I know you haven't played the original so it's hard to describe these arsenals in a way you would understand without making this post ridiculously long.

In short, Phantom Dust offers a gameplay experience that has only been matched by the likes of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (not chaos theory, chaos theory is spies vs. mercs for babies).

That list is full of speculation or already been known. How is Cyberpunk spot on with 2 different dates? I don't see Borderlands and Shadow of the Tomb Raider being GamePass day 1 unless MS moneyhatted the hell out of them.

I meant spot on in terms of appearing at the actual MS conference. And 2019/2020 are dates that make sense, I would say the later. Basically it's spot on in terms of when we might possibly seeing the game in stores, also lines up as a cross gen title for Ps5 and next Xbox in 2020 or late 2019.

Oh let me explain. Phantom Dust is my favorite game of all time.

So to preface this, it would be difficult to fully express why this game is so great without drawing out this post, so I'll do my best to truncate this.

Phantom Dust is a post apocalyptic story of an astronaut named Edgar who has travelled at light speed for a number of years. When he returns to earth 10,000 years had passed and humanity had managed to completely annihilate themselves. Now alone on the planet, there was nothing but ruins and this "dust". The dust, he discovered, carried the ability to grant him these supernatural, psychic and telekinetic powers. The dust, however, came with a downside. Prolonged exposure to the dust would wipe the memories of anyone who encountered it. With no way to avoid this, Edgar also lost his memories, left only with an image of these ruins and the power of the dust. He didn't recognize this place, but as it was his only memory, he decides to seek out these ruins. The story goes on to discuss how Edgar comes to meet the "Espers" and how they also have mastered the power of the dust and use it in the quest to find the ruins and the significance behind this place.

Phantom Dust is a game that requires creativity, reflexes and superb situational awareness to master. People tend to compare it to a card game like Magic: The Gathering. I understand where they get that from but in a card game, you have time to think and plot your attacks. Phantom Dust never gives you that guarantee. This is an action arena fighting game where your weapons are "Skills" (think cards in magic) you learn by playing through the game. You place these skills into "arsenals" (think of your library in Magic) in any combination you want(with some restrictions), but as you fight these skill are drawn three at a time in your base in a random order. In an actual match you need to pay attention to what characters your opponents are using, what schools of skills they are running, (there are 5 schools of skills) whether they are using a 1-school, 2-school or 3-school arsenal and what types of skills your opponent could be running ( there are six main types of skills). Skills have costs and power/defense and you use "aura" to use those skills. Aura replenishes over time. All things that I just mentioned can be manipulated by some of over 300 skills available in the game.

The brilliance of this game cannot be experienced just by watching gameplay, there is so much going on in the minds of skilled players that you really have to play to master it and then it becomes apparent. It reminds me of fights in Naruto( the anime, not the games necessarily),where the battle happens as much in the mind as it does on the field.

You never know what you're going to be up against for sure, but as a player your reputation begins to precede you. Online matches in Phantom Dust begin to brand you. You become known for the types of arsenals you frequent in battle. Other players build arsenals specifically to counter your gameplay style and it becomes a never ending cycle of people bringing fresh ideas to the table and others either mimicking, tweaking or flat out countering your style. The game was ahead of its time. The world wasn't ready for it. I'm still not sure if they are ready for it.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions.

Sounds like a game strictly for a hardcore pvper. I'd love to try it out but unfortunately these days simplicity wins over complexity when it comes to attraction and making fast $$$

Sad but true. Still, there are other examples of games who sport similar complexity that do very well. Pretty much all MOBAs sport an experience near this level of complexity. Magic is another game that is really complex and is successful. I think if Phantom Dust had the initial support it deserved then it would be counted among these games. Phantom Dust was originally only going to release in Japan. Majesco eventually picked it up and it was ported for US release at the last minute. There was no marketing for the game outside of a few magazine articles and Xbox Magazine demo discs that had a hidden demo of the japanese version of this game as an easter egg you had to unlock by a coded vibration of your controller. Even once you unlocked it, it was all in japanese.

Beyond this game, I'm excited for a new splinter cell and halo 6. What i really want to see is new IP.

Microsoft surprises everyone and gets the jump on Sony by announcing the next XBOX. No details or dates just trumping the power of the next system. Will still be 2 or 3 years away but it would allow them to steal Sony's thunder.

Microsoft: 'We're growing our gaming business beyond the console'

I am curious to see their direction under Phil Spencer, as the Executive Vice President of Gaming at Microsoft. I think Phil is going to push more on XBOX/Windows play anywhere initiative, to broaden up the platform. In a shorter term, they must have some good exclusives to show this E3. However in the longer term, I would not be surprised if the XBOX machines will no longer be made exclusively by Microsoft.

What I'd like to see is similar to what the article is saying but not exactly the same.

With Microsoft still going hard on backwards-compatibility for Xbox One, it'd be nice to see a similar initiative on Windows. Windows 10 has an Xbox app, which is competition for Steam, not unlike Origin and uPlay.

Because the app is called "Xbox", I'd be thrilled to see former Xbox and Xbox 360 games make it to Windows this way. There were plenty of games for both platforms that never made it to PC. Especially some XBLA games would be nice to have.

Feel it's relevant, because it's still called "Xbox".

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
After playing some Panzer Dragoon Orta this week, I would love to see Microsoft further support for OG Xbox games by adding achievements and bring back the old LIVE capabilities that would really breathe some new life into some of the older titles.

Here is the full list.

Halo: Genesis [Reboot, Splitscreen, new engine, Warzone 2.0, MP Beta 2018, Teaser Trailer Fall 2019]

Cyberpunk 2077: [Marketing, Teaser Trailer, 2019/2020]

Halo Genesis. A reboot? Swear to God they said halo 5 is a start of a new saga/trilogy unless they decided to scrap the story and really start over.

Wait what? Where did this come from, never heard of this before. This sounds really interesting, I assume by reboot they mean gameplay wise and not story wise (but that would be a welcome addition too). Bit weird that it says MP Beta 2018, but the teaser trailer won't be till 2019? What have they been doing this entire time.

Really interesting, any idea how true this could be?

Edit: Reading this entire list just makes me thing wtf... Is Halo and Forza seriously the only MS exclusives?

Splinter cell first on Xbox? Why are they wasting money like this, was it that much of a success with TR?

Aren't there like 5 Halo rings that still need to get blowed up? Naw, we're just getting started y'all.

I hope MS doesn’t go the Sony route with all the cinematic games. I’d rather have games like gears 4 and halo 5 than walking simulators. I understand that cinematic walking simulators is all the rage nowadays (it feels like I am playing a movie) and more power to the people that like them, but I prefer more “gamey” , sorry don’t know how best to explain it, games. With SOD2 and crackdown 3 (assuming it refines the gameplay elements of part 1) ms is on the right path in my book. Add a glorious looking, on the x, forza horizon 4 and they are set for 2018. I wonder if they will show 2019-2020 and beyond games, even in cgi form following sony’s example.

  • I am freaking pumped about Halo 6 news. Can't wait. I have strong feelings that the game is gonna deliver big time for fans.
  • It will be nice to see how Anthem is coming along, as well as final Crackdown 3 details
  • Fable reboot is basically a given, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were using some of the assets developed for the previously cancelled Fable Legends.
  • Ori and the Blind Forest 2 - heck yeah!
  • Phil definitely hinted strongly about a mech game, so there's that.
  • Maybe a Crimson Skies sequel?
  • I'd love to see an announcement for a metroidvania style game with rpg elements to it, but that's in fantasy land I'm sure.
  • A lot of people would like to see a new splinter cell and perfect dark, but those IP's don't get me nearly as excited.
  • MS really needs to put a bunch of resources toward a new RPG franchise. Go all out.

I think that if Halo Genesis has Cortana do something that sends the Chief back in time, kinda like the Star Trek 2009 movie, it could work. It would be a pretty cool way to forget about the horrible story of 5 without resorting to the "it was just a bad dream" trope to get the story back on track.

that would be kind of hilarious if 343 really did it, but I'm not sure if it's the best solution.

Ori, Minecraft Steve, Banjo/Kazooie and Leafos from Viva Pinata appear in a trailer for KI: Season IV: Hyper Junior Fighters Edition. C-C-C-Coming SPRING 2019!

No way you get even a (legit) rumor of a new game from Rare. They are set up to work with a continued delivery on Sea of Thieves and wont leave the game to start prototype something until at least the later half of 2019 if I had to guess.

Doesn't mean you wont see a "Rare IP" tho. Everything else seems plausible expect you are missing the Gears of War spin off which is probably being shown. To my knowledge Phil has never said they had a "Horizon for Xbox" pretty sure the comment was that the success of Horizon has given them confidence into making new ip and singleplayer content (which by the way shortly after is when the Fable reboot/4 development was rumored to happen) and if you DO get that shown dont expect anything more than a CG trailer, its hasn't even been in the oven for a year.

Battlefield V will show up for a second and there is a chance that if Splinter Cell pops up that it also gets shown but I wouldn't be surprised if Ubisoft held it for there own show.

Splinter Cell: [Reboot, Open World, Marketing, First on Xbox, Fall 2019]

Anthem: [Marketing, Gameplay Demo, Fall 2019]

Halo: Genesis [Reboot, Splitscreen, new engine, Warzone 2.0, MP Beta 2018, Teaser Trailer Fall 2019]

Cyberpunk 2077: [Marketing, Teaser Trailer, 2019/2020]

A reboot? Swear to God they said halo 5 is a start of a new saga/trilogy unless they decided to scrap the story and really start over.
this list is BS. Halo 4 by the way was the start of a new trilogy which they later changed and said it was a saga. 4,5 and 6 were part of the Reclaimer trilogy which later turned to Reclaimer Saga.

I've never played the original. Can someone enlighten me please on why it was such a popular/sleeper hit game? What was the gameplay premise?
You can download the Phantom Dust remaster for free on the Xbox One or PC.
Phantom Dust

Phantom Dust is a blend of third-person arena combat and collectable card game. Collect 300 unique skills and build your arsenal of powers, taking them into battle online with up to three other players. You’ll compete in highly-destructible arenas and unleash a wide array of powers and tactics to defeat your enemies, including orbital particle cannons, flaming swords, barriers of ice, flight, cloaking, attack reflection, and many other abilities. The game features over 15 hours of solo player content through an engaging story that explores the ideas of isolation and faith, and full Xbox Live multiplayer support for up to four players in a variety of match types.

I thought Rare had three teams, two large teams and one small one. They have a rather large campus. I thought the small team made Rare Replay, then the Sea of Thieves team and the other team was working on something else.

Nope after Rare Replay was released it was all hands on deck (heh) for Sea of Thieves. The team has also doubled in size (~100 to~200, which as a side note pretty much all MS studios are expanding. I think its because it may be cheaper than starting one from scratch which they are actually probably doing) and is still hiring. One of the 2 GDC talks (go watch both! especially the one with the unreleased CGI trailer!) was about the way the studio had been set up to have continued delivery of content.

For those unaware Sea of Thieves will be getting 1 large content drop every 2 months and weekly campaigns starting May (first drop is also May) and this goes on until the end of the year. Jez Corden which has been to Rare has also confirmed that yes they are all in with continued delivery. Dont expect a new title from Rare for a while. You sure as hell wont see another Xbox One title. Now if you wanna talk about seeing Rare IP thats a whole other story...

I remember reading or hearing somewhere that Rare has 2 other IPs in development alongside Sea of Thieves, but do not quote me on that. Maybe 1 could be a returning game and another a new IP, or 2 new IPs. Who knows, but I do remember Microsoft saying that Rare is a new IP factory for 1st party.
