Gamers won E3
Did you watch the conference? Maybe you'd understand then.
It's only 20 minutes, and takes a little while to pick up, but once it does, boy does it ever.
While there may be parallels, I don't think that's the case at all. This was a continuation from previous year, when... I can't be arsed to spoiler tag stuff so I'll be intentionally vague, but the one person that appears at the end of the presentation, was a continuity from the previous year. At the end of the presentation, we see a Robocop-esque scene, so I'm guessing the story will continue next year.Seems like a not that great rip of Doc on the ROQ's recordings of Francis E. Dec's rants.
You can hear them here https://archive.org/details/CYC-009 .. there are mutliple places you can read about him - but this one has a lot of text .. https://hatch.kookscience.com/wiki/Francis_E._Dec

The reason why I loved that presentation so much is that it basically takes the piss out of the gaming industry as a whole. Which (while gaming is a dear hobby of mine, wouldn't have it any other way) totally deserves it. E3 isn't quite as self-congratulatory as the Game Awards (which is akin to the Oscars, and I don't mean that in any positive way), but still, it's a matter of "which company spent the most $$$ to make the latest CGI trailer look the nicest". And that is not, at all, what gaming should be about. So for a publisher to come up with a presentation that basically amounts to "fuck you!!!" to the whole establishment - gotta respect that.
And seriously, "lootboxcoin". Ingenious, my hat's off to Devolver for that.
So let me get this straight ms won because they "revealed" alot of 3rd party games? Ok then
This I take an issue with. That was Gustavo-fucking-Santaolalla, the one behind the soundtrack of TLoU (2) (among so many other soundtracks), and the man is an absolute genius. The soundtrack of original TLoU still remains one of my favourites ever, in any medium. If you've played the original game (and not before, as it spoils pretty much everything), check out "Grounded", the making-of documentary about TLoU. It's available on YouTube, comes also with the remastered version. What he does with detuned guitars, PVC pipes and whatnot is just amazing. A true artist.A Short intermission between a banjo player
I was expecting Ashley Johnson to be the one playing, but I predicted that someone would be playing the TLOU theme at least. This I take an issue with. Had they brought a generic guy to play the banjo for a bit, agreed it would have been "meh" (as was the bamboo pipe). But having the actual composer play his composition for a while, I appreciated it so much.

I think the bamboo flute guy was just some "NPC", so to speak (and while it is hard to judge ethnicities according to short clips, didn't seem Asian either). So there some criticism was warranted (I didn't hate it though, I thought it was alright). Was the bamboo flute guy someone too (same guy? couldn't see face well??)
The Bamboo Flute guy was Jack Tretton. The fuck I had no idea - I literally thought it was some random banjo guy they had hired in to do a cover of the LOU song..

Nintendo showed the most characters you can put in a fighting game. lolSony had the best games and since they are exclusives they made a compelling point to buy a PS4.
Microsoft announced more stuff and had a better conference as a show but in the end it was mostly multiplatform stuff so the conference has no impact on their market situation.
Nintendo....emmmm....
So let me get this straight ms won because they "revealed" alot of 3rd party games? Ok then
Nothing bad about the number of games, but we actually found out the 18 exclusive number is bullshit.they showed 50 games
18 exclusives
15 world premiers
hows is that bad?
Did we ever figure out what all 18 of those exclusives were?they showed 50 games
18 exclusives
15 world premiers
hows is that bad?
And DMC5, which looked great. The best surprise out of Microsoft.Yeah, that poll needs Capcom added. Capcom won E3 with RE2Make, no two ways about it.

Easy...Microsoft.
its not bad but almost all of what they revealed i can play elsewhere
*edit*
also they didn't even demo basically anything besides forza
Phil Spencer talks way too much, and he does it while massaging his own ego. It's quite boring and repulsive.I felt Sony just really lacked any energy. I can never decide if I like Shawn Layden as a speaker or not. He’s quite odd but interesting, I can not tell whether he is into games or not unlike Phil Spencer.
You and i have a different view on the word repulsive. To me repulsive was that shitstain at ea saying "we care about the gamers" during an event that showed almost no games and mostly conceptartPhil Spencer talks way too much, and he does it while massaging his own ego. Personal preference, and I mentioned this before, but Ori and the Will of the Wisps looks so much better to me. Beautiful side-scrolling platformer with very engaging mechanics. I loved the first one. That game alone has me more interested than anything Sony showed. And why wouldn't Ori draw interest to the xbox? Does it not count? The Last of Us 2 looks great, but I'm not interested in playing it. Spiderman also looks good, but i'm 50/50 on it. I understand my preferences are different, but the gaming community's preferences aren't all the same either. My favorite exclusive game from the Sony conference was Death Stranding. But for just having fun, screwing around and chilling out, both Crackdown 3 and Forza Horizon 4 look more entertaining. I think that Microsoft understands that a lot of people just want to sit down and screw around for a little bit at a time, and a lot of the games they show reflect that thinking, both Crackdown 3 and Forza Horizon 4 fit that bill to a tee. There is Tunic, a zelda knock-off, but super intriguing and I hope it delivers on its premise. For all the hate Microsoft gets for being a bro shooter console, they continue to come away with the most varied line-up of games imo. Last E3, Nintendo hyped everyone just by showing a title screen of Metroid Prime 4. I was pumped. This e3, Microsoft showed a title screen of Battletoads, which has been a long-time popular request from fans for the xbox one. Then there were games not shown at e3 - The Last Night and Ashen, both of which could be really good. Not sure why it wasn't shown, but I believe Ashen was playable on the floor at e3, The Last Night was completely absent.Sony showed the best games.
There it is again. So unless a game is a single-player, cinematic experience, people just aren't interested in it?For the console manufactures, Microsoft had the best overall conference in terms of the number of games shown and the production of the show itself. Sony showed the best/most interesting exclusives that would actually get people to buy their system. Nintendo brought another enhanced Wii-U port to the Switch.
There it is again. So unless a game is a single-player, cinematic experience, people just aren't interested in it?
I think Microsoft had the better conference so I voted for them. I thought Sony was underwhelming, but I can't act like we didn't know because they even made a statement before E3 about what they were going to show.
However, what made me enjoy Sony's conference the most was the fact that they gave us lot's of gameplay. Something I prefer over Microsoft's teaser after teaser. I personally can't get too excited about a game unless I see a working product, regardless of how polished it is or isn't yet.
Last year Microsoft show lots of gameplay and got criticised for not showing enough games. Why has Sony got away with what Microsoft did last year?
I think it's pretty clear Microsoft had the better presentation and Sony's was a mess, but when you look at the exclusive games shown, that's where people are giving Sony props. Giving either company credit for lining up third party non-exclusive games into their show shouldn't mean you win E3 though.
Yeah, because we're not exactly thrilled about the 11th Forza game or the 6th Gears of War. Sekiro, DMC5, Cyberpunk, sure, but only DMC5 was a surprise.I agree and the line up for me what Microsoft shown was pretty good. Forza horizon 4 looks amazing as did gears 5 and Ori. Halo was shown is some form and people criticised that it was no gameplay but if you remember last year people went mental for a CGI trailer of Shenmue.
What I seen off Sony Last of us 2 looks great as did Spiderman but that was it for me. Spiderman just looks a copy and paste of Batman Arkham games which aint a bad thing by no means because those games are awesome but I was expecting a bit more of it because of the hype the game has gotten on here
to me it seems on here no matter what Sony do they will always get praised and no matter what Microsoft do they get played down.
There it is again. So unless a game is a single-player, cinematic experience, people just aren't interested in it?
It's probably just a difference in the games that were shown. The past 2 (2016 & 2017) Nintendo directs focused largely on one game and people praised those to high heaven (This year's one seems to have finally hit a nerve though). I'm assuming people were just more interested in the games shown at Sony this year vs. Microsoft last year.Last year Microsoft show lots of gameplay and got criticised for not showing enough games. Why has Sony got away with what Microsoft did last year?
