I played from the first title and I was surprised by the magnificence of what he offered as a horror game.

They had everything perfect survival horror game, with a spectacular movement capture system, a unique story without any paranormal effects, only criminals in drug addiction.

The second part I liked, because the issues of alcoholism, although the end is too weird.

They had even announced a movie.

The original game was one of the best things to be released on the Xbox 360. It was marvelous in so many ways.

The second one suffered and it wasn’t as good.

I wouldn’t expect anyone to revisit this or announce a third title. Just not the right time unfortunately. I don’t believe the second game sold well enough either. I believe one of the developers said that the single player suffered due to half of the development team being involved with the multiplayer portion of the game as he said “the game got caught up in everything needing multiplayer” which I can believe because the story really was a downgrade from the original.

I enjoyed both games quite a bit and even though the story went full potato in 2 , I loved the game play and the atmosphere (bear sequence) and was hoping for some closure

Last I heard Jace Hall got the rights back for the franchise and was advertising developers to take on the project a couple years ago. Don't think anything ever came from it unless a developer has been working on it in secret.

Would be a great project though for Creative Assembly or THQ Nordic possibly.

I loved the first game. I'm a sucker for any game that involves detective investigation, especially with forensic work. I would love for them to release a remake, or even a remaster.

As for the second game, I only remember the bear chase to be honest

The first game is one of the most underrated horror games ever. The second one sucked. I remember being so let down when I played the second.

The first one is still one of my favorite horror games. Considering how the AAA survival horror output is quite low nowadays, it'd be amazing to see another installment.

Good question. I doubt we'll ever see a third, despite the love for the series. What are Monolith doing these days?

Condemned 1 is my favourite horror game! I remember being amazed by it's graphics back in 2005! Felt like next gen had arrived with it's great lighting! Fantastic and terrifying moments and atmosphere, great and visceral combat...2 is good too but definitely doesn't touch the greatness of the first I think.

Oh jeez, yeah of course I forgot they were doing the SoM series. I wish they went back to FEAR and Condemned. Bring it back to how the first games were, quality wise.

Yeah.!

F.E.A.R. Is one of the best shooters that i play. i like the Action FPS Mixed with J-Horror like the Ring.

I remember the details and the I.A. Was perfect, and i enjoy a lot the Bullet Time effect.

Monolith is a underrated Developer, Because Create amazing games like F.E.A.R., Condemned, No one lives Forever, and Shogo Mobile armored Division , that last one was a great shooter but bizzarre anime and tons of Blood that sometimes give me a WTF.

Yea, I remember this too.

“Deep thought..and question…
I helped to create a video game console franchise called “Condemned.” I currently own the entire franchise.
There have been 2 game titles released for the franchise, “Condemned: Criminal Origins” and “Condemned: Bloodshot” – they both did well, and I am consistently asked when a third game might be created.
Since I am focused on other things, and will be for quite some time, this franchise is just sitting there.
I am contemplating finding an interested and proven Indie development team AND PROVIDING IT TO THEM, so that they can take over the franchise and move it forward.
As an indie, it can be very hard to get marketing/media attention for a title that you work on. This franchise is already quite known, has market demand, and is in an innovative genre/category.
Should I explore this idea further? What say you all?”

The worst part of the whole thing. Condemned 2 isn't even BC on Xbox One.

One good part doesn't make up for the rest of the game. Especially the shoot bang ending was a fucking insult to the first game.

One underrated game of the past Gen to me was Condemned 2, some part were really mindblowing, the permanent tension among others....i prefered a Condemned 3 but instead we had Fear 3.

Helios Helios Jace Hall was a former executive for WB Interactive and was into television as well, he was the executive producer for the V reboot. Yea it's the same person, he was into his comedic YT channel. It was a bit cringey but his trip to Blizzard and phone conversation with Obama were pretty awesome.

Yes. to be honest that was my reason to buy immediately a PS3 Console, to play Condemned 2 and Resonance of fate.

Honestly I don't remember the second game being NEARLY as bad as people are making it out to be. It wasn't as good as the first, but it was enjoyable enough to complete! I'd love to get a 3, especially if it was more like the original.

Absolutely! I think there's an Application you can download that allows the controlled to be applied to the PC version. Just Google 'Condemned PC controller' and there will be plenty of guides or advice on how to achieve this.

Condemned 1 was awesome and a quietly influential game, it's pretty much the granddaddy of "first person survival horror" that is so popular now, including Resident Evil 7.

But Condemned 2 was garbage (save for the part with the bear) and likely killed it's chances at being an ongoing franchise, although on top of that Monolith seems to have the same affliction as fellow Seattle developer Valve where they can't count to 3, they've never made a third game in any of their series (F.E.A.R. 3 was by a different dev), must be something in the water.

Anyway there's almost definitely not going to be Condemned 3 by this point, who would even want one considering how stupid the story got in 2? But there is a LOT of potential in a reboot of Condemned, it's ripe for the picking.

I however consider Monolith to be one of those "Ship of Theseus" developers where it's pretty much in name only, there's probably little in the way of remaining staff or at least crucial people responsible for the games they used to make, I mean the Shadow of War games are third person action games from a dev who used to be know for only first person games.

It's a shame because Monolith never really got the respect they deserved back in the day, the two NOLF games are among the most painfully underrated games ever made.

I played 1 and 2 on Xbox 360. They are games with great power immersion, authentic survival horror. I would be happy if the third part were released.

I worked on the entire Condemned series. Condemned 3 really wasn't in the card after shipping Condemned 2, it just didn't sell enough.

As Red Crayon Aristocrat Red Crayon Aristocrat said, there are just a handful of people left from Condemned 2, and even fewer from Condemned 1.

Having worked on the series and jump at the opportunity to work on a new one, I wrote about what I'd love to do with Condemned 3 a couple years ago.

Thanks for sharing. That actually sounds like a great idea. Reading your version of a third game made this sadder. I would just ignore 2 instead tho. No dream sequences for me. Lol 😋

Both games were great and among my favourites, the series used to be too "smart" for the average COD guy.

Keep in mind that those were the days of COD-Mania...

Thanks for posting that mate; it was a really good read (y).

I just recently picked up a copy of Condemned 1 for my X, so I'm looking forward to playing through the full game for the first time. I only had the opportunity to play the demo during the Xbox 360 era. I absolutely loved the demo, so I'm hanging out to do a full playthrough.

i think the second one is so much better. maybe its because i beat the second first and i really liked it at the time especially for it being much more oppressive and dark than the first and for the gameplay being so much better. i played the first recently and man the gameplay...... its hasnt aged well. at all. even at the time i wouldnt consider it good. it mostly comes down to liking the story better

with that said wish they made a third game

I kind of liked some parts of the second one, but boy was there some over the top stuff in it. Like chugging a random bottle of jager that was lying around to steady your aim because Ethan was getting the shakes :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I still think there is an opportunity for a "spiritual successor" to Condemned. The name doesn't really mean anything when you can make something similar without all the baggage of the series.

Or being able to yell so loud you cause guys heads to explode.

Man was that dumb.

People are complaining about condemned 2 in this thread, but fear 3 was the real stinker. Game was awful, and had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Anyways I miss all the psychological fps games from last gen. Talking about condemned, fear, the darkness, Clive Barkers Jericho. Shooter games, but with horror elemwnts. It was a new sub genre imo, and they could have really run with it... but instead we got walking simulators (aka outlast, where you just run away from whatever and aren't given any weapons). Such a waste. Would buy condemned 3 or a fear reboot (that was faithful to the first, and even second game).

I absolutely loved Condemned 1 at 360's launch, I remember renting the sequel and bailing less than an hour in, something was off big time with that game.

Condemned 1 is a masterpiece. Story, levels, horror, etc. The second one had some pretty good levels as well. Early on going through those grungy apartments, putting together clues; good shit. But damn did it have some just really stupid and out of place levels and moments as well. Doll factory, the museum, screaming at people to blow their heads off. What the fuck game am I even playing now? Plus, any sequel that just completely replaces the voice cast will always leave me wanting the original cast. I don't care how fucked up Ethan has gotten. These are actors. Get the guy from before to just act different.

I'd love to play Condemned 3, seriously.
The first one was one of the best horror game I've ever played. I don't have great memories about the second one tho (still, it was good).
Btw, I just checked the metacritic scores and C2 got 82, while C:CO only 79. Jeez, how is that even possible?

Let's clarify one thing: the first game had better atmosphere and the freshness that only the first chapter of a series has.

But Condemned 2 is objectively the best game out of the two. Level design, gameplay, graphics, sound, voice overs, lore/plot, etc, the second game throws the first out of the water!

The Illuminati-like conspiracy and the vocal cords powers were teased at the end of the first game to be honest and they fitted the overall tone of the game.

The doll factory and the abandoned house with the rabid bear chase are amazing levels.

Of course some of you are free to like the first chapter more, but personal tastes should never get ahead of the objective truth, imo.

I enjoyed the first one more, but the second game is the better one for production values. It isn't even a contest.

That's awesome. How long did it take to make the first game compared to the second? If you don't mind me asking. Was the engine and everything built from scratch?

Condemned was so criminally underrated. Never played the sequel so I played a part in ensuring a third one never got made. Wish I could play the sequel via backwards compatibility on Xbox. The first is there...

Condemned 1 took a bit and actually had a different publisher at one time. We started Condemned 2 a couple months after Condemned shipped. The engine was Monolith's in-house engine which was used on F.E.A.R. and later used on F.E.A.R. 2 and Condemned 2 with various upgrades and changes.
