Guess printing two discs would cost them too much money?

eh ok. not an issue for me.

67GB is nothing these days.

well considering a BR disc can hold 50GB why should they pony up the money for another 50GB when they only need an extra 17GB? if you can't download 17GB reasonably in 2018 then the blame is on you.

Yeah because we own all the ISP's that have bandwidth caps. Gotta remember that there are a ton of places who only have access to completely trash internet.

I have an idea: Just have them download the rest!

...oh wait.

The solution is not this.

They Should put 2 disc like Bioshock Collection and RDR2.

The other fact is the liars, first say that Can get the 3 games in one Blu-ray and later say that is just download, and Now that Xbox One is more of 32 GB.

The other fact is, what the hell with the compression?

It is foolish to the fact that they cannot compress well the game.

Activision Will give us a free Hard disk? because their work is give us the game in one disc and not only this, COD is stupid that Black OPS 4 Need more of 80 GB, COD WWII More of 50 GB? Or COD Ghost, even the PS3 Versión dont need a installation, is a Lazy Work.

It is their duty of Activision is to give you the ease and convenience to the customer, not imputing their rules as if Activision did us a favor.

Hah! Amateurs.

*Plays Monkey Island 2*
*Juggles 11 disks that need to be changed every 12.4 seconds for 5 minute loading gaps*

And you wonder why there was no ADHD back in the days, we all developed Zen like patience whilst gaming.

Oh man, reminding me of Ripper on PC. And it's very long transition sequences and needing to change discs to go back to some common locations.

Interesting, wonder what the listing of the X1 version being 36GB was about? Maybe default size pre-downloading the rest? That would mean it's actually 31GB instead of 17 if that were the case, probably just a botch on the listing though.

Anyway, can't say I'm surprised at that size given Activision's devs along with Microsoft's are the absolute worst when it comes to compression this gen. Still remember when this gen started and people were dumbfounded at the size difference between GHOSTS on PS4 and X1 compared to 360. Switch team got Crash Trilogy almost 5 times smaller on Switch. Multiple voice languages on disc also inflate sizes, Witcher 3 Complete Edition knocked off around 30gigs for disc version by making alternate language options optional downloads.

I'm still getting it when it's in the bargin bin though.

oh yeah 'murica. land of trash internet.
So then the blame isn't on "you."

Looks like they have no clue how to properly compress data. This is hilariously asinine waste of disc space.

So 3 games at 67 gigs and people are complaining, yet single games are in excess of 100Gb and not a word, not a word, not a word....Why do we complain about the most trivial of things though........

Very much this in Australia a lot of homes are still limited to copper internet to the home through their phone lines getting like 700kbps download speeds and like 20-200gb caps. Its only that i bought a house in a new estate that i have fibre and uncapped but i pay over 100AUD for it

Yes, games made today. Not remakes of games that use the same map designs/layouts and locations from 20 years ago. All the Spyro games are short with small maps. It seems more to me that there was no compression used to fit things onto the disc and they went the lazy route.

I don't think you thought this post through very well.
I always thought that internet in America was brilliant but according to most of them it's terrible.
Why would I think it's brilliant? Well in the Philippines where I am currently living, the fastest internet I can get is 10mbps and back in Australia the fastest internet I could currently get it 5mbps.
All entirely my fault of course, because I control the ISP's.

If this game comes to PC I am personally more likely to buy this game digitally but there would be MANY more people in my exact same situation who would not want to download that much data.

PS:
Activision have a lot of money. They can afford 2 BD discs for a single game. They'd still make a lot of profit off Spyro.

how is a 3 games collection being 67GB somehow bad? Gran Turismo Sport is like 100GB+.

This is three games, completely remade with 4k assets. Some games do the base game on disc and the 4k is optional as a download though.

It's a remake though, new assets at 4K, sound options, maybe a few movie files......It's not the PS1 games uprezzed....3 games at 67GB is pretty decent in that case, no?

If Nintendo could fit Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild to 6 GB and 13 GB, there is no reason why they cannot compress the game to fit onto the disc. They are simply being lazy.

The Game Industry could learn from ..kkrieger

Only 96kb in total.

Otherwise, the massive file sizes are getting ridiculous.

I think "lazy" is the wrong way to go about this. Especially since the Game Industry is notorious for "crunches". You can't be lazy and a computer slave at the same time.

However, that doesn't mean they should be absolved from bad decisions.

Or its on purpose to read the data better for hdd, seriously saying they have no clue of compressing data when they are developers of games its kind of dumb, they have their reasons. And its not even that much these days, takes me 30 min to download it.

Personally, I like having the entire game on a disc so I can play it 10-20 years from now, after the servers have shut down.

Sorry, I should put that I was referring strictly to the publisher, not the developers. They do what the publisher tells them to do.

It's not because it takes YOU 30 min that it's the case for everyone. 67 gb for me is about 25-30 hours of download, and I can't do anything about it because higher speed internet isn't available where my house is located, it does exist in the same city but not in my neighborhood, and there are still a lot of people who have slow download speed.
And it's not the only problem, I just find it crazy that some people are like "meh, 60gb is nothing", damn, it's huge, how did people got used to such crazy file sizes so quick, I mean, remember when Dark Souls was 4gb and skyrim was 5? I know this was in the previous gen with lower poly models and lower textures, but still, some games are reaching near 100GB and they really shouldn't for what they offer, I really think data could be optimized better.

Still doesn't excuse not being 2 discs when even Capcom can put something like the Mega Man X Collection on 2 discs for 40$. Or even why they just didn't put 1 and 2 on disc and make the entirety of 3 download, which would still be a better alternative than what they did.

Like I pointed out, this very same developer took Crash Trilogy, a currently 25GB game on PS4, and made it 5.2GB on Switch. Will have to wait for a breakdown of Spyro by tech analysts to know the full details of the size, why it's like that, and if it's justified.

Capcom did Revelations on the switch with only one game on the cardtridge the other a download. SF5 Arcade had the rest of the game through dlc codes as well. So fuck em 2.

There should be so many shared assets between the 3 games, this makes no sense. They probably had 3 different teams working on this, one for each game and didn't want to waste time reducing the size, so we get a ton of triplicate data.

67 gigs just seems way too much. It has a heavy impact on me as a consumer when it comes to buying the trilogy, as I would want it on my switch and I only do physical.

There are 3 games though, remade with higher texture quality and other visual effects, this is why games are that big these days, even though a game is 4 hours. People got used to these big file games because the internet got faster with no limit in most of the countries these days, especially in the easter Europe and China, the internet is really fast so the size isn't an issue anymore when you can download in an few minutes. Still you can buy it on the disc,(for this game is kind of messed up) but in general its better to have them on disc than buying it online. The only issues for me now its the space on a hdd.

If you look at the final installed size you are looking at potentially well decompressed data already. One would have to look st the data transferred when the entire trilogy I downloaded from the digital store.

If the image on say PSN servers is less than 50 GB when downloaded over the internet than it could have shipped as a single disc.

Lots of people have been complaining this gen, Gears4, Final Fantasy 15 digital sizes where huge, Halo had like a 20GB day one patch which annoyed alot of people.
People where worrying over red dead redemption but they at least got a 2nd disk with that.

Then we have had a few switch games pull this kind of physical but you gotta download a "patchbutreallyitstheotherhalfofthegame" shit.

I wonder if most of the bloat is coming from uncompressed audio and high res videos.

Apparently some characters have been censored

I wonder if they changed this character to reflect current Lara

Ugh I just deleted 100 gigs to install Red Dead 2 on the original 500 gig PS4... Oh well, still worth it.

Why bother doing a good job compressing the games or (heaven forbid) put it on 2 discs when you can instead screw the suckers who will buy the physical version?

Remember when a game was 2mb? Those were the days.

I remember the day I bought Strider for Sega Genesis the week it came out. The cover had a gold sticker that read "8 MEGA MEMORY." Wow, how awesome is that? Eight whole megabits!

Even funnier, I remember back in the mid-1980s when my friends and I were still playing games on Atari 8-bit and Commodore 64, and we were honestly perplexed as to why anybody would ever need more than...wait for it...64K memory for games.
