Uh even the “die hard” Xbox fans questioned the accuracy of that report, no one is seriously claiming X1 shipped/sold 70 million + consoles. Some have questioned the actual numbers but anyone with any sense know that 70 million isn’t accurate. Lol

If Xbox One was at 70M sold units, Microsoft would be bragging about it all the time. I have always seen Sony at a 2-1 ratio throughout the entire generation. They have had the lead since day one and will still have that lead at the end. If Sony is at 86M, I put Xbox One at approximately 43M which isn't bad at all in general but compared to PS4, not so much.

I'm from the UK, but am currently in China studying Chinese. I wish I had seen this earlier, as I could have cleared up some confusion.
Firstly the headline:
微軟Xbox One尷尬了 索尼PS4遊戲機銷量已超過7000萬
This actually translates as something like "Microsoft's Xbox embarrassed as sales of Sony's PS4 tops 70 million." (尴尬 translates as awkward or embarrassed). Needless to say, this is somewhat different to the spin put in the original OP
It goes on to say:
微软在今年1月份之後还没有公布Xbox On游戏机的销量，但当时其公布的销量是2600万台，虽然其後10个多月的时间里销量肯定会有增加，但其现在的销量肯定还是不能同索尼PS4相比。
What they're saying here is that Microsoft hasn't reported on Xbox sales since January of this year, when it reported sales of 26 million. Although 10 months have passed since then, the author of the article thinks it's very unlikely that sales since then have equalled Sony's PS4.
Games sales for PS4 apparently stand at 617 million (对应的PS4游戏则已卖出了6.178亿套)
It then goes on the say that sales of PS4 have now passed lifetime PS3 sales, but not yet PS2 sales (which it puts at 155 million).
I don't know if this is old news or not, but the article quotes Sony as saying that PSVR has sold 2 million units, with 12.2 million games sold (索尼此次公布的数据还提到，其PS VR头盔目前也有不错的销量，其已卖出了200万台，对应的游戏卖出了1220万套)
Lesson for today: google translate is still shit when it comes to Chinese-English translation. Well, it's good to know that any potential translation job I might get is safe from the robots, for now at least.
EDIT: As others have already noticed, this article is actually from Dec 2017, so all the above quoted figures are almost a year out of date. What a waste of time that was!

This may or may not be true but in this case as the last several posts have laid out the fake numbers and dishonesty lies at the fault of the op for manipulating a Chinese article (knowing few if any could read it), not with the Chinese.

Having lived in mainland China for almost 2 years in total, this has not been my experience at all. As there are over 1.3 billion Chinese, living in regions as diverse as the sub-tropical south all the way up to the frozen north, it's generally not smart to make such broad generalisations. In this case, it seems that the OP either mistranslated or deliberately misrepresented the article (I was a little too late to the party to make that judgement). The info in the article itself seems to be correct.

After the initial rush out of the gates this gen, the PS4 has loosely maintained a 2 to 1 sales lead over the XB1 all gen. The PS4 is around 90 million vs around 45 million for the XB1. It's been more or less this way all gen.

So the article wasn't 30 million over the actual sales of the XB1 but was in fact 15 million under the actual sales of the PS4. This source does not 'seem' reliable.

The switch sold 22 million at 300 bucks. Xb1 has been out about 3 times longer than the switch at about that price. Xb1 would have to be much higher than the 35-40 million range after all this time at roughly 300. XBL mau's for console and pc is at 59 million and I really doubt that many people are on pc. That 59 mil would be someone who has logged into live at least once a month with a silver or gold live account. If there are quite a lot of people who own an Xbox but don't login anymore that could put the number closer to 65 million sold with 6 million xboxs collecting dust.

This is worth mentioning since Chinese Mandarin is one of my secondary languages. Machine translation for Asian languages such as Chinese and Japanese are utter trash. Machine translators are very bad at picking up the syntax, idioms, and tone of these languages.
Here's one simple example. The phrase, 三八, means "silly" even though it uses the characters for the number 3 and number 8. If you were to copy and paste those characters on Google or Bing translators, they will convert it to "three eight". This is among the easiest of Chinese idioms and yet they can't even pick that up.
