The power of friendship! Is there a tl;dr for those who missed the drama?
Yup, it's gonna be kind of depressing watching all the video's I have yet to watch of theirs that I never got around to and now it'll feel weird watching all of their individual channels now. I've actually been watching a lot from Pat and Matt's channels lately, now i'm gonna have this awkward period like I had with Liam where i'll just have this lingering thought in my mind that these guys will never be doing a playthrough together again. The only consolation for me is that there's still a lot of their content I haven't watched yet, but it's all gonna have a depressing air over it now.
It's always sad when these things happen, like when the original incarnation of TGWTG fizzled out or when Fungo and Rosseter of Twin Perfect split (which Twin Perfect as a whole seems to have since died basically)
Or just in general when web content that you really enjoyed irrevocably changes in some way, when the salad days end.
In the case of Super Best Friends, this is a really sour note to end the year on.
Not to sound bitter but I bet Pat is the reason why, I always got the impression he could be kind of an asshole.
So looks like I'm not the only who is completely surprised by this? I wasn't watching many of the more recent videos (lack of time in general!) so I thought I might just not be up to date.I'm not sure if there's anything publicly known, I don't follow every single video they put out, so I may just not know, but to me this came completely out of nowhere and is very shocking, everything seemed like it was basically normal up until now.
Their best stuff is well past them. Not all that broken up actually. As far as content to quality ratio, their early Machinima stuff was probably the best. Pat playing the angry gimmick, Matt playing the dimwit gimmick. And that was completely different to the LP channel. They were fun for some years still. I can't quite put my finger on exactly when, but apathy really set in the last few years. Wasn't just me either, the channel was stagnating on views and sub increase for a long time.
You occasionally got LA Noire and Detroit, but for every good series you had TMS, plus 6 or so mediocre ones. Like, just when you think the channel is on a roll, they start a 100 part LP of a boring combat heavy JRPG where they run out of material to work with in 7 episodes.
And Matt's a wimp that never grew out of being a dimwitted teenager. (Ironic considering he's now married) He's the type of person to avoid people like Pat. As far as I recall, they weren't all that close to prior the Two Best Friends. Woolie was friends with both of them. It was supposed to be Matt and Woolie doing a few vids, but Woolie bailed, his insecure nature got to him, and Pat jumped in because why not, not like anything will come of it. Then they got picked up by Machinima and after a few series they started doing LPs on Sw1tcher. Brought in Woolie after a while, then Liam came into the fold, the rest is history.
So looks like I'm not the only who is completely surprised by this? I wasn't watching many of the more recent videos (lack of time in general!) so I thought I might just not be up to date.
Wonder what Pat's problem is. Guess Liam won't be on the new podcast either.
He seemed to be the one holding them together up until this point. Also the one putting the most effort into the main channel.Woolie seems to be on good terms with everyone, last I remember.

Yeah, they met through Woolie but he didn't join TBFP until later.Wasn't he the one that originally brought Matt/Pat together? I thought he was the core person behind the show to begin with.
I gotta say though, after I found out that all of them had their own separate channels that they are all very active on, I did grow a little worried that they would stop with the main channel.
What they should have done was occasionally meat up to play some bad or weird games for fun while being more active on their own channels, but they didn't, and I think they couldn't really handle it so things got a bit hectic in the background and it was decided that things had to break up.
Not surprising but also kinda surprising. I'll miss the shitstorm every year.
I just watched the games that interested me and skipped ones that don't.
Wow it's like you described nobody on the channel. Great job!i don't keep up with these people, i hate e-celebs with obnoxious dudebro personalities who should be looking after their kids instead of playing videogames all day.

pretty sure i got at least the "obnoxious dudebro personalities" part down to a t, man.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, I guess? Dunno what you were expecting, SBFP is/was pretty well-loved.i'll see myself out then. :/
>gimmickMatt's manchild gimmick
Super Best Friends is dead and meanwhile Red Letter Media has slowed down to a "once in a blue moon" schedule for a while.
Now is not the greatest times for Youtube channels.
I think Pat just has a very hard personality to deal with. For some people with thicker skin like Woolie you can fight him or put up with it but for Liam and Matt who are a bit softer I can see them eventually getting tired of his brashness and just stop caring or starting to resent. Pat likes to start shit, tells it like it is, is in your face and likes to be right. He's still a very entertaining guy and I'm not ragging on him or anything but sometimes peoples personalities don't mesh well with each other and I think that's what happened.Wonder what Pat's problem is. Guess Liam won't be on the new podcast either.
i'm sorry for attacking something you guys like, :/
Not sure what you're talking about. RLM videos are being released at about the same rate they have for years.
Twitch brings in more money than Youtube so probably never. They also don't have to split the revenue in three this way.So how long you give it this year until these phony bolognas lose enough money to reunite and not reach the heights they used to?
