The Division 2 BETA [performance thread]

I can't find another thread for this so here we go. I wanted to talk about PC performance but console owners can share their experience too.

my initial impressions is damn this game is demanding! my pc specs:

i7-6700K (4c/8t) at 4.3
32GB at 2666
RTX 2080 at 2085/7750 (418.81 driver)
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1809)

game is running with all settings up as high as they will go with some crap like CA/Vignette turned off. I'm running at 1440p resolution.

Below are images of what MSI Afterburner recorded. Highlights: 11.37GB RAM usage + 6.9GB VRAM usage! I can hold a decent solid 60fps but the game feels very stuttering and not smooth at all. I was running in DX12 so I'll try DX11 later.

You can see in this video (4:40) what settings Ubisoft used for their own Demo setup. Maybe a good starting point for tweaks.
Just checked and those settings in the video are the HIGH preset.

i'm happy with performance mostly. just want the framerate/pacing to feel smoother.

also, better AA would be appreciated.

Switching to DX12 on my Vega 56 + Ryzen 2600 improved the fps and frame times a lot. I could even increase settings to ultra preset and it never goes below my freesync limit of 70 @ 1440p. Even while running around in the city.

I haven't played it but, did you try locking the framerate to 60 with rivatuner?

I see you already have msi afterburner installed so might as well try it. I never have any issues with framepacing on PC because whenever I do encounter some issues with it, locking the framerate of the game with rivatuner gives me super stable frametimes, I'm not really sure what rivatuner does to achieve this, but it's almost like black magic, making games incredibly more smooth, it makes the frametimes very stables.

I now have the global settng for framerate lock set to 60 in rivatuner so I never have to worry about framepacing anymore since it's applied in all games, and I disable it for specific games things if I need higher framerates.

One problem though is that the uplay overlay isn't compatible with Rivatuner, at least last time I tried it on a ubi game it was like that, so the uplay overlay won't work.

yeah i use rivatuner. i disabled the in game framerate cap and that seems to have improved things.

I have a I7 8700k and a GTX 1080 ti. I didn't change any of the settings, I didn't notice any performance issues which is a good sign.

there are some settings you can turn up a bit more. i had everything maxed at 1440p with a 6700K (at 4.3GHz)/32GB/2080 and it ran just fine. you'll be fine with an 8700K and a GPU with 11GB...assuming you're not playing at 4K.

this is probably the most demanding games i've ever played in terms of memory. 11.37GB RAM and 6.9GB VRAM is the highest usage i've ever seen outside of benchmarks/stress tests!

Going to get into this later today but just thought I'd drop a link to the Nvidia tweak guide for the Division 1. I'm not sure how many of the features are carried over but I'd imagine there's some overlap given that it's the same engine. The guide is a good resource in what kinds of things you could turn up without impact and what might be the sweet spot for the more demanding features.

no console owners in here?

performance is great on PC for me but if it runs well on PS4 i might get it there.

Tag, you're it.
I7 6700K, GTX 980 and 32Gb RAM and I get a minimum of 50 FPS in any situation at 1080p (full ultra except for the shadow on high)

I5-6600K, 16gb DDR4 Ram, GTX 980ti.
1080p/60fps with a mix of high and ultra.
The game runs really well with just the odd stutter when moving around quickly. The game auto set me up with a mixture of high and ultra, which was nice as i thought i may of had to lower some stuff to keep 60fps.
I think the game basically runs slightly worse than the orig game, but pretty close.

Anyone else find the audio mix to be really bad? You can barely hear the enemies who are in hallway 5m away from you and the weapons lack oomph as well.

the audio is awful. in addition to what you said they often have different dialogues playing at the same time and it's super annoying.

anybody got an extra pc code? I know there's a thread for this. I got a code for PS4, working on an xbox one. Tryna do a comparison video. Not pre-ordering 3 times.

At least you have dialogues, I did not hear a single phrase spoken in the game (my game is in French not English)

On like Ebay or something?

I think they are being sold for like 5 bucks on there. I saw someone on Reddit say they bought one and the seller never delivered, and hid behind the "expected ship date" listed on the auction page. Not sure what the seller is hoping to accomplish there

I do like how the missions seem to have checkpoints, and you respawn close to where you died, instead of spawning back at a safe house. Its much friendlier to single player gamers in that sense, which i like.

Performance is fine. 4k @ high seems to hold 60 pretty good. But I have a lot of crash to desktop. Really annoying.

Played Anthem on Xbox one S, performance was abysmal, low 20 fps.

Division 2 runs great on XB1S. Needless to say. Ubisoft gets my money.

Division 2 has certainly been refined.

Is it actually using it or just allocating it?
well, i'm assuming it's using it since those are the numbers reported under "RAM usage " + "Memory usage".

yeah that's great especially when the game just randomly disconnects you. that's been happening a lot.

I guess it was trying to send an HDR signal on my PC because when I set that option to Off from Auto the colors looked way better.

What I ended up having to do was have it off by default, then toggle it on using a keybind once the game got started.
i had no issue with it. the overlay turned on automatically for me.

what version are you on? i'm on "4.6.0 Beta 10" which isn't actually the latest version because that'd be Beta 12. Rivatuner is version "7.2.1 Beta 4"

Using 4.5.0 Stable/Final for Afterburner, and 7.2.0 for RTSS right now.

i5 8600k 4.8Ghz and a GTX1080Ti. Defaulted to ultra on everything but shadows. Stays around 60-70FPS at 1440p the whole time so far.

I’ve never, ever been bothered by “bullet sponges.”

For me, RPGs are RPGs, of course there are different flavors but I view Anthem, Diablo, The Division, Borderlands on the same level.

In RPGs I expect health points, armor, residences, immunities, weaknesses, damage mitigation, etc

I don’t play these games for the “one shot, one kill” factor of a Rainbow Six or Socom game, or Sniper Elite, for example.

That’s just my opinion. It’s clear a lot of people have issues with “bullet sponge” gameplay, though in fairness I’m not sure how looter action-RPGs could be done without it.

For what it’s worth, it seems like the TTK is more reasonable this time around

It's not an action game. It's an RPG, more similar to Destiny than say Binary Domain or something like that.

It doesn't make sense that you could unload a clip on an enemy directly on his face and still don't kill him but it wouldn't make sense (because of the type of game) that you could shoot someone on the face once or twice with a low level weapon and drop them as if it was a high level weapon.

It's just something different.
