Halo Infinite launches holiday 2020, adds Xbox Project Scarlett version

It's hard to get excited by a 90s franchise that never seems to evolve. Space marines and cliche' aliens.

Thing is, I would have done the exact same thing. If my game is more than a year away (we are in June 2019 and the game releases in Fall 2020) I would show as little as possible and go Berserk @ next years E3.

Downloaded the 4k/60 vid, it really does make a difference, especiallin texture quality. The graphics have this certain sheen to them, a certain look, i like it. Would of loved to see some open world areas on Halo itself though, thats where i think it would really shine.
Where can I download the 4k/60fps video :)

What a terrible reveal. I mean, really?

Generic Marine nobody cares about: Look it's chief out the window! Better plug chief in! He's alive!

Chief: Time to fight. *fade to white*

Horrible. The worst Halo reveal in the history of the franchise. Maybe 343 just doesn't have the chops.
This series reminds me of Terminator. Arnold was made the be all end all of that franchise and it just can't let him go. Same thing with Halo and the chief. Outside of nostalgia for a by gone era, what does Halo really have going for it anymore? Solid gameplay, sure. But as far as story and characters, it feels like it's trying to recreate past glory.

A little late to the party but I just realized that MS pulled a CD Project Red and put some codes (for Game Pass, though) in the visor boot screen during the E3 trailer.

Wish I had noticed sooner.

The box art is showing a bunch of floating islands with hexagonal pieces making up the land.... we Sonic Lost World now? vomits

Could be neat to play on an in progress ring. Perhaps this ring is the last settlement humanity has from Cortana as it was made outside the Milky Way by the Ark? I'm interested.

Next gen xbox will make a lot of sense cause likely backward compatibility. Looks like i will be skipping xbox one line of systems.

Technically halo did it first. In halo 3 on the final level you could see huge lanscapes and pieces of the halo being put in place in the background to imply its still under construction.

Speaking of hexagons, holy shit Chief's visor doesn't fucking have any! Thanks Jebus!

Oh yeah, it's just that those were all a bunch of scaffolding and skeleton bits of the ring. This just looks like a bunch of solid hexagon sticks with some land on top of them. Not trying to take a dump on it, but it is an interesting choice.

I've watched it 77 times now (and counting), the graphics look incredible to me. I can't stop watching it, i can see the veins on his hands the hair strands, the change in his face on the pilot.

Even in this scene

i really hope in-game matches this.

I love how masterchief has weight and bulk to him like how 4/5 were. I like how he moved around he seemed more alien and inhuman the way he moved i f-ing love it.

During Inside Xbox a 343 dev said this footage was from the very beginning of the campaign.

They said this was the opening for it !?!?!

i cannot express how outstanding this game looks.

It would be awesome if we can pick up things.

It takes place several years after the events of Halo 5 and his armour was damaged during the events of 3 - 5.
Thanks. They're calling it a spiritual reboot. But Halo 5 ended on a cliffhanger. That would be like saying Halo 3 is a reboot after 2's ending.

Sigh. 343 really has mangled this franchise. I suppose it's wait and see.

Think of it like how Kratos had a totally different look in GoW PS4. They are doing a soft reboot on a franchise that was misfiring. I think the change is for the better in my opinion. The suit is now grounded in realism and the lore from the books/fiction has led us to believe. Infinite takes place at least 4 years after the events of Halo 5. An armour change isn't out of the question during this stretch of time.

I'm fine with the armor swap. But a soft reboot in the middle of telling a story? That seems weird. God of War concluded before they rebooted.

At first I thought game looks good but then I have watched the same trailer in 4K and now I'm amazed. Textures looks extremely detailed, you can see fine details on every material and I cant imagine how much vram they have used for textures alone. Indirect lighting and shadows looks also impressive (I'm guessing it's because of RT). If the final game will look as good and run at 4K 60fps on xbox scarlett, then new xbox is day one for me because I would rather pay 500$ for new console than buy another high end GPU.

Yeah i was just gonna mention that the 4k HDR is when you can see how impressive the trailer really is. Most people, including me, watched it in 1080p. The contrast you get from the highlights and shadows makes it look sick.

I was watching the conference on Mixer in 1080P at first and later switched to 4K because at first I did not see the 4K option. It looked so much better. The games that showed gameplay looked like the game was actually playing on my system at home.

He's not a generic marine, he is an UNSC pilot that apparently is a big part of the story.
