I understand what you're saying, but there is no utopia. There are going to be those with pain and disorders no matter how many systems we have in place to "care" for them. I think the best we can do is show compassion instead of judgment, and offer our hand if it is desired - without force. Maybe (obviously?) she's in pain, but who's to say her way of coping isn't better than any traditionally accepted methods - for her. I don't feel capable of making that judgment.
