That's what bewilders me the most. A lot of people that I thought I leveled with are avidly pro-feminist even in these divided times... and it's to the point where I keep questioning if I don't get it. I obviously see the positivity in supporting freedom of choice, will etc. but I just can't understand the agreeableness to the methods deployed of censorship and silencing people who have contrasting viewpoints, and worse, labeling them the second comings of Hitler.
How can I support that?

The question I ask myself is "what are these people so afraid of"?
It would have been easier for him to just say nothing. The guy is gone so it's time to maybe just leave it be. Yes, there are accusations but he has passed away and it seems like it should be a private issue and maybe it's more appropriate to just show some respect and leave things alone for now.
The ENTIRE motivation for this just seems to be to say "ZQ was right, he's a horrible guy, I survived him but she had it worse so plz no harrass".
Are folk so irrationally terrified of "GamerGate" that they would go to these lengths to make sure that nobody can ever say that they didn't put absolutely everything the could on the line to defend ZQ from GG?
It was the same with Total Biscuit to some extent too. When he passed away so many were falling over each other to be the first to condemn him. I didn't get it. AT WORST he could be accused of not knowing what GG was and so his "defense" of it was based on thinking it was about "games journalism" when REALLY it was about "harassing women". That's it though. Taking a swipe at a dead man because he disagreed with you on what GG was is terrible behavior. Better to just shut the hell up.
Tim Soret was not such a severe case but again it was like the worst thing this guy did was thinking that GG was about standards or ethics or whatever. As soon as the trailer for his game drops this stance that the relationships between indie devs and journalists can sometimes be used to deceive the people buying the games becomes "OMG he is a monster who supports kicking women out of videogames". Why though? Why even bother?
Something about it all, GG and ZQ, seems to just get people acting crazy.
So when there is some drama going down people feel like they absolutely must get right on there and make sure everyone sees that they are part of the ZQ defense force. Why?

At his point, we're all just susceptible to throw mud (that other have given us) to make "the other party" look as bad as they can. I was also emotionally invested in the whole thing, but now I'm in a more objective state. Now, I'm not excusing the thing Zoe has done, because it has led to something absolutely tragic and infuriating. But everything has two sides, and she also has a history of being abused by her mother which resulted in her being what she is now; a pathological liar and manipulator.
Same goes for the people on resetera, how they act isn't either sane or morally justified. However, how did these people become what they are? They didn't come out of the blue, all of the sudden. I think all of these people need help, and shouldn't be on the internet at all. And maybe they would be in a better place if the internet didn't even exist. It acts like fuel. People with big psychological problems, hanging out with each other, what would you expect?
Something must have gone severely wrong somewhere, like really bad parenting.
