if Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is actually what we can expect for next gen consoles does that mean rtx2080 will be outdade by 2020

so i just smoke a spliff and you know i start to think
there is nothing out there tha looks technically close to what they show
i have a pretty good pc. most of the games i play on ultra at 1440p with framerates above 60..
mine will be outdate for sure

and the video benchmarks ive seen of rtx2018 most of them are 4k and really struggling to lock 60fps. and we don't have next-gen games yet

so what you guys think.

ps: English is not my first language so ''bear'' with me

Next-gen consoles aren't going to be close to have the same power as a RTX2080, are they?
Yes they will and since consoles are a closed platform it'll have around twice the performance compared to a pc part as per Carmack.

Remember that this was in-engine, not in-game. And yes, there is a difference.

As for the RTX 2080 becoming obsolete, it might, but not for the reasons implied in the OP.

yeah i know that's why i said if the actual games looked like that. im pretty sure rtx2080 could run that pre-render cutscene in engine

Croatoan

They/Them A-10 Warthog
Well since the 3080ti will be coming out in 2020 then yes, the 2080 will be outdated in 2020. The consoles will have no bearing on that though.

What an odd question.

edit: the 3080ti will blow consoles out of the water so all of you console only folks should really keep it in your pants.

Y'all just love setting yourselves up for disappointment don't you?
i mean if you think about it next-gen consoles will be a jump from xbox one and ps4 to ps5 and sex
because until know the games were developt for the original consoles and then ported to pro and x.
now nothing is holding them back developers will go ham.
even if it is 9tf its already a big jump from 1.8 of ps4

Trying to keep up with the latest on PC is a scam. Just throwing that out there. Only people with money to burn buy these things. Games developed for set hardware will almost always look and run better than whatever new graphics card you have that has to get the job done through sheer force. It's why I still use consoles for high end games and only keep my pc moderately up to date. Yes, your thousand dollar flavor of the month graphics card will look better than my 500 dollar box but at then of the day, I'm content for about 5-7 years and playing all of the pc exclusives, most of which are developed with low end hardware in mind.

While custing 3x and its a single component ?

Lets get real here: You damn well know there are quite a Lot of Pc fanboys who want consoles to be way less powerful because of their typical insecurity and low level self steem

In every generation theres always a Pc crowd soeculating an average under powered gpu on consoles and they are ALL frustrated that this seems to be nowhere near the case this gen particularly.

People sound tô obssessed with numbers.

Seriously, If HELLBLADE 2 is what we can expect from nextgen, who the fuck cares anyway ?

Too much Focus on hardware numbers, too little on what it can already bê achieved visually.

What I am trying tô Tell You is that there Will be a time (and its sooner than. Ever before) when what is presented on the screen (visual fidelity) before us is at a level that theres simply not that much space to Go beyong. Every game with good investment and experienced team Will be espetacular and cgi material.

Who fucking cares If a 2000 dollars gpu performs better If a game at the level of hellblade is for the general audiance a sample of How Far games tech have advanced

Thing is, that crowd, as you refer to them, are generally right, and likely will be again. How do people not learn from the same thing happening time after time? Sony / Microsoft make huge boasts, they drop some reveals (which are actually running on PC), and when the actual specs are released and the huge downgrades are apparent, everyone who bought into the hype is disappointed.

Not in gameplay.

I just loaded up Detroit on PC. Max'd everything out. set vsync to 60FPS. The game will NOT hold it. I'm on a 2080Ti.

Photogrammetry will be more used. If devs try to push 4k visuals, then that will eat up most of the bandwidth for any other features. Water will still look crappy. FX will still be lacking (maybe higher res versions), skin will actually have SSS on it for in-gameplay. Hair is going to still be a ways off. Cinematics will be cinematics.

I was going to start a new article discussing what next-gen games would look like based on the 2080Ti's performance and features today. It will be a lot of work and I'd need help to post it up. But let's just cut straight to the point -- I'd look to a low res Control (1080p) with only 1 or 2 RT features, or the CoD: Modern Warfare game @ 4k on Medium settings for next-gen.

That was at time of DirectX 9 yet.
Modern API didn't have that much overhead and are more close to console APIs.

So the 2x is not true anymore.

The big difference today are optimizations because APIs like Vulkan or even DirectX 12 offer close performance to console APIs.

Im talking the result on the screen wich is what matter most. Infamous SS and Killzone at PSMEETING were what we got in 2013/14 with no downgrade whatsoever, and I wouldnt doubt that HELLBLADE is an accurate representative of what we can get out of these box's in 1 2 years, and If this is true, seriously, who cares when we are approaching CG level ?

2019 was a trash year wrt gaming and technology. I welcome 2020 with open arms :messenger_smiling_hearts:

Neither Infamous SS or Killzone were particularly impressive graphically, were they? The one game that did look impressive was Deep Down. And we're still waiting on that one.

Play Bioshock infinite (end fps PS3 gen) with your ultra settings and play Killzone SF on base PS4 right away and Tell me ir isnt a big leap.

Your playing current gen that were developed with 1.8/1.4 in mind.

yeah i know that's why i said if the actual games looked like that. im pretty sure rtx2080 could run that pre-render cutscene in engine
Pre-render = Rendered on a powerfull hardware using full RT calculations etc. Too demanding to be done in real-time. (movies use this) Rendered frames are stiched together and made into a video, played back at >24fps.
All hardware could do it, only at different speeds;-) (Time is money)
InEngine = Can be two things. All it means is that all frames are rendered in the game engine, but not necessarily in real-time. If not then the frames are stitched together as a video (same as above)
Since it's rendered using the game-engine, you can get som info out of the footage like what effects the engine supports etc., but you can't measure hardware performace out of it.
Some also use this description for real-time graphics, but it's not a good way to convey you meaning.
Real-Time = All frames are rendered on-the-fly. The hardware are fireing on all cylinders to achive what you see. This is also the only metric to use if your'e comparing hardware. (The other two scenarios are only playing back a video, wich your phone also could do)

I guess.

But I seriously doubt the game will actually look like that. In engine and in game are 2 different things.

one year from now you´ll all see that they lied!

They didn't lie. They said it was in engine, which it probably is.

Honestly, buying a gaming laptop at this point is a huge risk. Next gen is going to stablish a new baseline and since we don't even have the 2xxx super cards available (nevermind the hypothetical 3xxx) series chances are even if you splurge for a 2070 ir even a 2080 lapty you'll be left holding your dick out at medium settings come next gen titles.

This has always been true, though. Choosing a gaming laptop over a desktop is throwing money out the window for the vast majority of users. Almost everyone I know who bought one thinking they needed something portable ended up never using it anywhere other than their desk.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super and higher will remain relevant in 2020 and beyond. Nvidia built Turing with next-gen features and may even do Ray Tracing better than the consoles.

RX 5700 series will be outdated in 2020 because AMD failed to implement next-gen features in first gen RDNA.

Anyone who bought a $400-$700 Radeon GPU will be left behind by consoles in 2020.

Anyone who bought an RTX GPU in 2018 or later can be safe in knowing that they will not be left behind the consoles.

Total performance, probably, just because of optimization. However, that won’t last more than a year or two, I suspect, given how big 2021/22 is looking to be for the semi space.

I would guess we might see a 2023 PS5 Pro though, but it might be geared towards VR and performance.

You can call me fanboy, I dont Care. If HELLBLADE is what is ahead in consoles reality, then every AAA game promise tô bê standardized on CGI level, wich means the difference tend to be limited to a fps matter. Vsiually everything tend to be equally mind blowing

But but 6080 TI hás 200tf on PC... Who fucking cares If its equally Just cgi level, Just more fps lmao
