Two classic action games, PlatinumGames’ Bayonetta and Vanquish, are getting updated for modern consoles. Sega has announced a 10th-anniversary remaster pack will be coming to both PS4 and Xbox One on February 18, 2020.

Both games updated to 4K and 60fps, on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Take a look at the announcement trailer down below.

Both classics in their own right, Bayonetta helped launch a new gaming icon of the same name, who has since become a playable character in Super Smash Bros.

The bundle of the two games will be available both digitally and physically for $39.99. Physical editions come with a gorgeous embossed steelbook featuring brand new art by Dan Dussault

If you pre-order the bundle digitally on PS4, however, you’ll get two original themes. Here’s the info via Sega.
  • Bayonetta & Vanquish Theme – available instantly for all digital pre-orders, will not be available at or after launch.
  • Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Theme – available for a limited time for all pre-orders and purchases up to March 3, 2020 – two weeks after launch.

Bayo...good game but lets be honest its dodge 2 win. You have to play multiple times to unlock Infinite Climax where the real game starts.

With the franchise having jumped ship, I've lost most interest in following it.
It still is a good value, as the PS3 port of Bayoneta was an embarrassing disaster that couldn't work without a massive patch.

"Nice this will be the fourth time I get Bayonetta, I'll put it between my 5 copies of Resident evil 4 and my 6 copies of Skyrim"

Please tell me they will have an individual release for Vanquish even if it's just digital.

I will get these I always wanted to play both but I heard the Bayonetta ps3 is bad. Never got around to Vanquish. I might wait till after it comes out to see if it is good or not.

I bought a PS3 copy of Vanquish years ago and never played it.
There's less and less reason to hold on to a PS3 every day (except for those sweet PSOne Classics, of course).

I don't know if I'm just remembering Vanquish on PS3 a lot better than it actually was but the footage of Vanquish in that trailer doesn't look remastered at all. I was remembering it better than it was.

Glad they finally announced it. I'll get it but suspect I'll stick to playing the Switch versions for the costumes in Bayonetta, but I never did play Vanquish so I look forward to that. I mean I tried a demo but couldn't really see the appeal at the time, so I'm anticipating trying it out for real this time.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Too bad they seem so barebones. Bayonetta is worth it though (personally I loved the idea of Vanquish and I love the cool moves you can pull off but hate the limited energy gauge for them and I find the gunplay super weak which - duh - isn't great for a shooter).

It just would have been really nice to get an actual remaster fixing some of the awful stuff in it, like the mini game levels and the rough looking post processing, to bring it more in line with the eye popping colors of the sequel (reshade etc doesn't really fix it imo).

You know...Vanquish has levels of underateness equal to God Hand. And both games are AWESOME (and has some things in common).
Bayonetta also is fantastic and over-the-top, so it's a must for those that couldn't play them or they didn't experience them in full glory(60fps/hd/qhd).
Vanquish DESERVES a sequel

I always liked the gameplay idea in Vanquish, but I've never been able to enjoy it how it should. The armor constantly over-heating, the so-so story and the lack of power ups. You have an absolutely badass armor, but you can only use it for around 2 seconds, then you're hit with a 30 seconds recharge time where you must take cover and shut up. To play correctly you have to constantly "break" the game with maniacal and unnatural manouvers, and it becomes less and less stylish. Just a timer power-up would have made the game so much more enjoyable, that always bothered me.

EDIT: I'm of course interested in playing it at 60fps, anyway.

I would have preferred to be able to buy these separately but whatever. I don't need to play B1 again, but I am so down for remastered Vanquish.

I’ll get it but they should’ve included Metal Gear Revengeance as well.

That game is owned by Konami, it couldn't have been included, the only other game they could have included would be Anarchy Reigns which would have been really cool actually since not many played that game.

Nintendo funded it, so not unless Nintendo is feeling very giving.

Nintendo doesn't own the IP, Sega does. Who funded it as actually irrelevant. MS also "funded" Mass Effect, but clearly doesn't own the IP, MS also funded one of the Tomb Raider games, a Ninja Gaiden etc. Funding something doesn't mean you automatically own the IP.
Didn't MS also fund Sunset Overdrive? Yet that IP is now owned by Sony, so funding something doesn't actually mean by default they own the IP. Unless you have evidence that Nintendo bought the IP from Sega, its up to Sega to put that game where they feel like it.

That's true, but Nintendo made Bayo 2 exist. I'm not sure if Nintendo funded Bayo 3 as well.

By that logic, Mass Effect 1 shouldn't be on the PS3....yet...it is.

Unless either of you have any evidence that SEGA doesn't own the IP anymore, its up to them.

Blood Borne Blood Borne ? Sega doesn't own the Metal Gear Solid IP, that would be a question for Konami.

.

I believe Sega can do whatever it wants with the Bayonetta IP however the publishing rights for the 2nd game belong to Nintendo. So no port unless Nintendo gives in.

you’re absolutely right. I forgot that this is a Sega bundle and not a Platinum Games bundle

Actually EDMIX EDMIX makes a good point. Funding a game doesn’t mean exclusive, it’s all about who owns the IP.
Microsoft funded Mass Effect 1, Sony funded PS1 Crash Bandicoot games, yet because they didn’t own the IP, these games ended up on other platforms.
