Switch Pro controller hidden in Red Dead Redemption 2's texture files

A dataminer has found a Nintendo Switch Pro controller hidden in Red Dead Redemption 2's textures.

"The Switch proved itself capable of running massive, graphically-intensive games with the recent Witcher 3 port, which suffers considerable visual compromise but runs competently enough. And although Red Dead Redemption 2 is a newer game and a near pierless technical powerhouse, it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility that Rockstar could make a Switch port at some point. Unfortunately for now, it's more likely that Rockstar is working on bringing support for the Switch Pro controller in Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam. "

Yup, essentially you can use a multitude of controllers on pc, and it’s likely it’s there for that.

If switch gets RDR2, then... awesome. But more chance of GTAV, really.

Anybody getting excited about this should realize this is Pro controller support for the steam release. There's no chance of RDR2 on Switch.

Has any other games ever provided button prompts for Pro Controllers? Support for Duelshocks buttons prompts are few and far between as is, would be a nice gesture I guess.

if real the game will be unplayable at least for me.

I’m probably in the minority here, and I’m not quoting you to call you specifically out — everyone has their preferences and hey if you don’t like the Switch that’s all good :)

But for me personally I found this game unplayable regardless of what platform you’re on.

imo Rockstar games are 10/10 production and like, a 3/10 actually playing the damn things, which is super disappointing. Also I sorta thought the game was boring but I’m willing to admit my distaste of the controls prevented me from giving the game enough of a chance

Again with the Switch hatred in here.🙄
Looking at W3 its possible to make it playable and maintain at least some graphics to not get eyecancer.
This is likely for Steams Switch Pro Controller Support though.

lol. the ps4/xb1 struggles to maintain 30fps. i can't imagine this running well on Switch at all.

i don't hate Switch :) i love the console but it's just not powerful enough. Witcher 3 is impressive but it looks like ass on Switch and that's a game that is almost 5 years old. RDR2 is just over a year old and looks much better.

I believe Destiny 2 on steam has support. Steam has built in support for the Pro controller so it’s just up to people to use the button prompts. It’s the same with Dualshock 4.

Saying facts isn't called "hatred" You're delusional if you think the Switch is powerful enough to run RDR2

Look at The Witcher 3, it looks and runs like dogshit even with all the downgrades. Don't be delusional :)

Lots of „facts“ in here are nothing more than driveby shitposts. Just like your exaggerated comparison.

Would it look bad? Sure
Would it be unplayable? No, unless the visual aspect bothers one so much.

Witcher 3 is honestly pretty fun on the Switch. Like most of the ports, it has the persistent soft/lower resolution look, but I found that the look and the feel of the world came across really well, and it runs just fine as well.

This is from somebody that spent many dozens of hours with the PS4 version.

I don’t know how RDR2 would look, and have extreme hesitancies as to whether it’s possible, but if it is, having these games in the Switch with a portable option is really fun, for both returning players and new ones alike. It also expands the audience of these great games, and gives them more attention. 👍

Oh so I’m exaggerating now? Okay then, I’ll stop here instead of wasting time

Most likely it's the added support for Steam and Stadia, but i hope i'm wrong: it would be nice to see more from Rockstar on Switch after L.A. Noire which i bought.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they managed to port it to the Switch, after all, Witcher 3 is the most powerful game on the Switch. But I could see this for the Pro version of the Switch.

I'll never get tired of seeing so many people get upset simply because the Switch is getting a game.
What’s funnier is when Nintendo fanboys never admits that the Switch actually isn’t a high end PC and makes you feel that it’s up there tech-wise with the other consoles. But that’s what being delusional means so it’s alright

steam supports switch pro, if it was joycons then it would be something interesting but this is on the pc side of support.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Rockstar working to support the controller on pc is even less believable than a switch port tbh. Thankfully you can use the controller thanks to Steam (so even less reason to work on it) even if the labels don't match, that's not needed, who looks at the buttons when playing, it's muscle memory.

It would be an achievement for sure if they managed to do that. They would have to strip out a ton though. It's the one game that makes my XB1X kick it's fans into overdrive.

I love watching "potato mode gameplay videos" from youtubers putting everything down to lowest setting but its one thing to watch and laugh and another to play and cry.

You are aware that Steam supports the Switch Pro Controller and button layout. This is all it is.

RDR2 slander should not be tolerated on a gaming enthusiast forum.

It literally holds the record for the most perfect scores of any game in history.
