you do know that Marc Whitten left MS 5 (FIVE!!!) YEARS ago - half a decade ago? exactly because of this. almost EVERYONE with these kind of narrative left MS, ALL OF THEM. why still keep pushing that narrative that its still the same at MS?

Of course they changed everything! All kind of these people LEFT MS, all these new people are way better now and made BC possible.

NO WONDER they changed that fast. AND IT IS A GOOD THING, no need to say its a bad thing they changed.

why should sony do this though? they have a business called PSnow. why should they do this? what I can see is that they will release PS5 remasters for a few games AND full ps4 BC - thats it. No PS1, 2 and 3 because of PSnow.

I think We will get full backwards comparability with ps1,ps2,ps3,ps4. It should be a walk in the park for PS5 to be able to play PS1,Ps2,ps4 with ease, PS3 is the one that will be impresive is they manage to pull it off, I really wanna play my PS3 library since my fat PS3 broke, I wanna replay twisted metal

PS3 wasn’t actually that impressive and mid range PCs are starting to emulate it. Everyone makes it like it’s unicorn architecture, but really it’s just bad planning from the management.

I would think it would be up to the developers of individual PS4 games to release compatibility updates for better performance on PS5. That would probably make the most sense, and they'd definitely sell more copies of their games for that investment. I do hope the load times improve either way, though.

There has been talk of resolution options and different APU modes, but do you really need max PS5 power to run certain BC games? I don't think so.....PS1 won't need it, even to run it's games at higher resolution.....Same for PS2 in many cases......I think that you will have the option of running your BC games at 4k with better AA etc......and this is when it will utilize the full spec.....

I think if we get full BC for Xbox, 360, One and for the PS, every gen from one to 4 there is going to be a ton of people pissed off that they sold off their entire games collections for sweet FA. I got rid of about 50 Xbox games, but luckily I keep 90% of my 360 games.
But for some of the people who had hundreds of PS 1 games, they will be spewing.
Are Sony going to enhance their old games for the new console, or are they going to play in original form?
I was really impressed with the way MS enhanced all their old games to play higher res and better frame rates.

I think the PS5 is more than capable of handling PS3 emulation. Sony could have you be able to play all the old disc games you have in your library and continue to add the games that you don't have to the pstore if you want to get them digitally. Which I could see them doing it this way.

People don't think he's a god, he just has a very deep understanding of both the software side and hardware side and he's a very analytical person so he pays attention to details which just makes him great for the position he's in. I think he did an amazing job with the PS4 and really showed that he listened to developers!

Everyone expects full ps4 bc with ps5. And seeing how both ps4 and ps5 are both x86 it only seems natural.

Cerny is such a great architect, I believe in him.....He was so instrumental in designing the PS4 which was the most powerful in 2013 and which has dominated since then, absolutely no issues with the hardware, lots of neat features; like the share button, essentially a great controller, the audio jack and touchpad, the media chip and of course 8Gb of GDDR5.......Media streaming on a console and the share button for pics and vids were such powerful features on day 1.......Playstation Live was lit and saw so much activity which boosted PS4 sales and attracted many persons to the eco-system...

Looking at the great work he did with the PRO, with it's custom design, Vega features, 64 rops in 2016, I know we are in for something really special with PS5, all the chips are aligning for a powerful SOC in late 2020, with some neat custom features which I can't wait to know about.....Yet, I'm doubly interested in some of the OS features, just like they brought media streaming to consoles; shareplay, remoteplay....I want to see what new revolutionary feature they adopt or present to us in 2020........Some of their patents for texture replacement in old games is looking very promising, so their BC approach should be very ambitious by the looks of it...

Is the controller perfect...no, but neither is the Xbox controller. One thing though, it is light-years better than the Dualshock 3! I expect the DS5 to be tweaked even further as well as the Xbox Series X controller, the controllers will constantly get better every generation!

Sounds to me like it would just disable CU’s and lower clock speeds. Any Enhancements would need to come from the developer same as now.
