Tflops are single-precision (32bit) floating point calculations per seconds. If Sony has something different as CUs for ray-tracing then it has also it's own tflop number. What I want to say that the ray-tracing unit tflops must be added for the final tflops numbers to see the real peak power. Ofc these extra tflops will only be used if a game is using ray-tracing. If this tweet is true.

Matt said not to use the github leak as indication of anything. Klegamefan said he has no idea what that is.
We also know that 2 ghz Navi consumes too much power and generates a lot of heat for a slight improvement in performance, so it makes no sense for a console.
In what world does that seem very likely?

For the record I don’t think anyone who buys a playstation is a fool... I was paraphrasing and parodying the argument that I was having. So please read ( if u didnt) the previous posts I was responding to. ( the argument being presented to me was that only a fool would not know ps4 is checkerboard 4k only).

No it doesnt. Separate chip for RT would add latency and everybody whom knows anything about graphics knows that it is the bad thing to do.

I seem to remember the AMD conference saying that each increase in mhz resulted in a 50% increase in tflops... something like that!
Maybe I am way off in putting the importance I am on how fast / hot it's running.

That’s what I don’t get about the “foregone conclusion” that the github leak is the ps5 chip.
Seems like a huge waste of resources when you could likely get a cheaper apu going wider and slower.

Kleegamefan just confirmed on the other site that oberon specs don’t match the specs he has for PS5.
in the past he said PS5 is slightly more powerful than Series X, and in december he said Series X is 12 TF RDNA.
So, if he isn’t just another fake insider, PS5 should be over 12 teraflops.

It actually really pisses me off, they always abandon their old consoles and use moneyhats early in the new generation to force people to consider buying their new box.I’m a games first person I want to know about these moneyhats
They did with Ryse, Titanfall and other stuff last generation, while PlayStation had TLOU and GT6 coming to PS3 and didn't lock their PS3 players out by making moving them to PS4...

I don't wanna bring this up again, but you guys do remember the stuff going around last year that PS5 might've been coming out in 2019, right? We as the public may not know how true that was, but it's plausible considering it would've coincided with PS's 25th anniversary.
We still have things like Shawn Layden abruptly leaving SIE last year left unanswered for (some dispute with Jim Ryan seems to be cited as a reason). PS5 chips have seemingly gone through a lot of steppings that've even surprised Komachi. Some news recently came out about a 5700xt being overclocked to 2.2GHz, so as a capability, that is possible on Navi. It's at least plausible that Sony might've gone with a smaller chip possibly at more modest clocks at the beginning but kept clocking it higher with each stepping.
I'd actually be very interested in an in-depth look of PS5's development one day; it's a hunch but something tells me plans drastically changed. Something tells me PS5 started off with slightyly more modest specs and Sony may've planned for a custom RT solution off the bat to integrate into the system at a later date. And I really do think there was some merit to the PS5 2019 release rumors. Some of those other rumors had them going for a $399 price point, which isn't unreasonable since it seemed to be the sweet spot for PS4 and PS4 Pro (high chance PS5 could also be $399 still).
And Sony also has next-gen PSVR; they probably want to push next-gen VR much more than the first generation has, what if PS5 R&D had more allocated towards PSVR2 than some might be thinking? Could explain the 9.2TF-10.5TF spec rumors/leaks going around past few weeks. I think we need to see what's going on with PSVR2 in order to get a fuller understanding where things are with PS5 tbh.

He didn't say anything explicit about moneyhats, just that they seemingly have a lot going on with their game dev and collaborations with 3rd-parties on that front. No reason to be a pessimist over that statement.
Also moneyhats aren't anything new, it's been a thing since forever and it really depends on the nature of things. Things like ROTR were moneyhats I don't agree with. But in hindsight, I also don't agree with moneyhats like SFV. Then there's "moneyhats" like Nintendo with Bayonetta 2 but at least those ones are somewhat justified.
Take the rumors about Sony and GTA6 exclusivity; that would be an obvious moneyhat and one of the most damaging ones around (not just for MS, but for PC gamers and gamers in general imo), and one completely unjustified. Same if MS got GTA6 exclusive.

Even if PS5 was slightly better than Xsex or vice versa, lockhart is just a complete wrench that adds a huge potential of confusion to the masses to say the least (for ms lineup).
