Look at the link above. It lists everything in that laptop. The onboard APU and the nvidia gpu. Just scroll though the entire spec list.
I already replied to you, but if you think that setup beats a 2080ti then good luck to you.

I don't think it adds up as I edited in.
It either points to the fake/spoofed IDs that APISAK uncovered last week or it's completely bogus.
Even if you take into account the use of the new SmartShift tech, it seems too good to be true.

That goes against what Sony has been saying about PS5 going to be a 'premium' console ALSO,

Main complaints from a whole heap of PS4 owners is noise. Then you also have the know issue of shockingly low or poor dual-shock 4 battery life.

It would be incredibly daft for Sony to ignore the above complaints from current PS4 owners and push ahead with a new console with the same issues.

Sorry, i don't buy it. The PS5 will absolutely not be a loud console.
i have to meet the first casual ps4 gamer who complains about console noise

It sure does but it's extremely unlikely in my opinion they tested a new CPU and a new discreet GPU at the same time other than as part of an apu and the 4800h is nowhere near that powerful.

Time will tell if it has any relevance to this discussion though I guess.

My question is, if Series X does have more TFs, why do you think some insiders are saying PS5 has the power edge?

If the PS5 had much faster and modified raytracing(think 2x) that doesn’t use the CUs for anything then it might end up being faster then the XSX even with lower TFLOPS whilst using raytracing.

What if...

Xbox does have more teraflops.

But the PS5's SSD is much faster and is something MS can't match?

What if Sony doesn't have the custom SSD solution people have convinced themselfs they have, and both are running "off the shelf" PCIe4.0 nVMe controllers - possibly at exactly the same performance .. ?

(It's 2GB/s per lane, and they can use multiple lanes - nothing stopping either getting very high performance easily)

I appreciate your input.

I have been saying this awhile now both consoles are super close and Sony's SSD is pure magic having a decent speed edge over Xbox.

Guessing.

Insiders are specifically talking about TFs though, not just performance. And PS5 having more TFs, better ray tracing and much faster SSD doesn't match with what any insider is saying, that they are incredibly close in performance. Specifically Jason said that it would be incredibly tough to tell which one actually has the edge.

Because they have do a custom proprietary SSD solution and it’s probably not something MS can easily copy. Can’t say more details than that (already DMed to a mod the other day).

I think the general SSD drive tech is the same but the controller Sony is using is probably what makes it faster than what MS is doing.

Even the sony patent suggests something that other SSD makers have also done. ESRAM+generic controller/ARM decomopressor. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it's more than that.

I thought I read there will be a partition soldered onto the system board to act as a paging system (in basic terms). That would be a fairly large differentiator over the competition....if true.

Unless it is something like reram either would be foolish to be sodering any storage to the motherboard. It be asking to eat lots of money on repairs it be red ring waiting to happen if used as a cache. Removable would let people fix it themselves and probably avoid controversy. Versus a dead console and professional repair from the company.

So komachi says they are still testing Ariel and Oberon, even though Oberon was supposed to have replaced Ariel as ps5 chip. Xsx only has one chip in testing, Arden.

How recent? Could this still be the June/July test mentioned in the Github leak or are we talking sooner?

one thing I would point out about SSDs on PCs is that usually they are configured with the SSD as a boot drive and a traditional, slower magnetic platter based HDD as a larger drive for storage. PS5 AFAIK will just have one single SSD drive to handle everything. no idea about the size of that drive, I'm thinking they might sell multiple variants with a cheaper smaller drive and also a more expensive variant with a larger drive. note this is all just speculation on my part... ._.

OsirisBlack OsirisBlack So what was it that you mentioned about Sony, Square-Enix issue. Is there a publisher close to MS that doesn't like Lockhart and will release exclusive to Sony or something?

I don't see how Sony would piss anyone else off unless its due to censorship.

PS4 noise levels is a well known issue mate.

Some of my family and friends who don't game at all have all commented on my PS4 Pro's noise when i play my games. I'm forced to use headphones (SteelSeries Arctis 7) while gaming and even then i still hear the thing.

The Verge, GamesRadar, Gamespot and all other major tech sites have all published articles on solutions and preventative measures to noisy PS4's.
You can add to that the countless youtube walkthroughs and console modifications on the above issue and you have yourself a widespread issue that not even casuals can ignore.
Most casuals certainly will complain but not as much or vocally as us enthusiasts on these forums.

You make such specific statements and then say you are just guessing :/. How can one guess something like that? I get it you're trying to act like you don't really know, but it's pretty obvious to everyone that you know something.
Exactly this.

Says he knows this and that and then ends with he's guessing.

Confused here

for simpletons what is this? :messenger_tears_of_joy:
These are CPU codes and their revision but he left a lot of ?.

For example the line 11 and 12 is probably Ariel and it shows two revisions A0 and a new that he is guessing (so the ?) to be E0.
The same happened with Oberon few days ago when he spotted new stepping E0.

What that means? It shows new tests and stepping of these chips are being made.

He isn’t completed a vetting process by choice. It’s mentioned throughout the thread. He didn’t want to risk exposing sources, so, all he can say is he “guesses”. If you believe the guesses, it’s up to you.

I think out of all the insiders only 1-2 of them are anywhere close to being on the money in terms of what these systems (specifically PS5) will actually have. The others could be way off base, or have bad sources/plants giving them false data, outdated info/sources or even just making shit up.

That said it's fun to see what they have to say, it adds to the pot and the pot's in no danger of spilling out.

In the wild chance they're doing dual GPU (again, highly unlikely; they're maybe just seeing which of the two chips to roll with), isn't that going to jack up the price? Not to mention potentially increase the TDP budget noticeably unless the clocks come down quite a bit?

And IIRC, CrossFire/SLI on PCI never really netted a 2x increase, closer to 1.5x. Maybe that'll increase somewhat with Navi tech but a single die with 72CUs would've been preferable for an actual 2x increase over 36CUs.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away if you wanted to play a Square Soft game you had to own a Nintendo console. After Square decided to make FFVII for the PS their relationship soured. Imagine if you will another big name studio that is currently making a game that everyone expects to be multi platform suddenly only being for ONE platform and not even the PC market. At one point Nintendo told Square (ファックオフ) The relationship is better but it took a long time and their is still some bitterness.

ID's for the APU's I believe, ARL (11+12) would be Ariel I think, due to the stepping being E0 (which was mentioned recently in another Tweet).
ADN is probably Arden, I can't make sense of Komachi's Tweet because it ends with a question mark.
Historically AMD has named their CPU's "K.xxx" no?, perhaps it's why he's asking why the change.

They'd better be a studio that was struggling to develop the game, otherwise this smells like a moneyhat. The kind of moneyhat I hate.

Only game I can see that happening with and causing some stank is GTA VI.

Give us a hint, is the publisher Western or JP?

ah ok thanks, so the ‘oberon’ leak was 36 CU at 2GHZ? do we have a leak of what CU Ariel was at and what it was clocked at?
