On the subject of launch titles, or titles that fall within the first year of the system's release, those are all likely to be titles that were already in development and probably weren't going to be evidence of a full next gen console title anyway. Or do we believe AAA titles take about a year and a half give or take?
Keep fighting the good fight 👍.

Still pretty confident in XSEX edging out the PS5 will be how things end up turning out. Why would Microsoft release two consoles when they are both less powerful, just doesn't make any sense to me...

Because history has shown that they are quite useless. They were doing well at the beginning with Xbox 360 and in the middle of the generation they focus on kinect leaving their customers aside with only the trio Halo, Forza, Fable.

With Xbox One a total disaster and when it seems that they are improving they announce that all their exclusive ones will leave on PC, losing interest for all those who had a good computer.

When it seems that with Xbox SX they start better they announce that they will not have exclusive games for another 2 years. The PS5 exclusive will take advantage of PS5 and will be created based on it, the difference will be important, so the Halo Infinite trailer did not impress anyone.

Microsoft has proven to be a company with a lot of money that makes bad decisions and none of that has changed.

To the pachter prediction that said Sony is skipping e3,

last year by this time Sony officially announced they will skip e3 . They haven’t done that yet ? So maybe they r not skipping it this year ?
I would find it odd that they would skip e3 when they want to garner as much hype for ps5 release.

The fact is, if a developer really wanted to make a stunner, they could pivot towards the Series X tomorrow and have something awesome in time for the launch window, or within the first year or so.
As someone who wants to see the very best of what next gen can unlock, I don't want the transition to be delayed any further than it needs to be.

So by the looks of it, it seems both consoles will be on par basically, which is great. I do hope Microsoft get their act together and do well(I am PS guy myself), we NEED healthy competition, if either of these 2 companies dominate I have no doubt in my mind they'd be screwing us over. Just the fact that the PS5 is rumored to be close or better than the SX is something us PlayStation people should be thankful towards Microsoft for, as I'm sure Sony would've been more than happy building a 399.99 console if it weren't for Microsoft shooting for a lot more.

Pivoting towards Series X tomorrow isn't the same as ground up, but it seems an acknowledgement of the obvious. Devs arae using to scaling games for higher and lower performance hardware. Translation, there's nothing to worry about.

All I know is that it diminishes the hype I had for Series X until this point.

You keep thinking that. I'm only laughing at the stupidity of it all. Halo Infinite releases day one and looks fucking amazing and clearly next gen.
If you think cross gen games are not held back by old hardware then I don't know what to say. You say games had to go in development years ago, but do you think Microsoft didn't know they were planning to release new consoles in 2020? I get you are an Xbox fan, but at times you sound like a PR machine for Microsoft. Now I'm not saying one should automatically hate this type of strategy and I know some folks are ok with it, but let's not pretend it's anything more than a Microsoft's vision that's been at play for a while.

Again with the looks...
Its not about looks, its about scope. Games can have much more, better and more complex enemy/npc AI when made for Zen2, without being restricted by the Jaguar.
NPC count can more than double making cities feel much more realistic.
Games aren't just about making graphics shinier and higher resolutions.
They will be just fine.

Lol who cares if series x has no next gen "exclusives" for 2 years. The ps5 games will release on ps4 too. And be upgraded for ps5. Just like games will play on one x and xsx at the start like LOL is this a surprise?

Essentially he says in 2years there will be games that won't be forwards compatible anymore. Ie they wont release a lower version on one x etc or simply wont run on lesser consoles.

This will be the exact same game ps4 ps5 play. Cyberpunk etc etc all these games will be ps4 and then get downloads or new gen versions. And all huge games for a year or two will do this to hit all the markets.... ofcourse.
Cyberpunk isnt exclusive its a multiplatiform game, it makes sense for third party to stick around old gen for a while it doesnt make sense for first party exclusives to because thats your selling point on a new console.

It should be "you wana play halo infinite? Get a new xbox"

"you want the new horizon zero dawn 2, or uncharted or killzone get a ps5"

thats the point of selling new hardware, sony gets that but MS doesnt, if they want to just sell software then dont sell the new hardware

This game has been in development for a while and has already been shown.

Expect to see this game as an XSeX exclusive at least timed for a while before dropping on PC.
You mean CrossfireX? It was announce "First on Xbox console". And it isnt

I have two types:
Game which has been already shown and is in development for a while is CrossfireX. And Smilegate (studio which making game) isnt Japanese and Western because its Korean.
Also, game was announced as "First on Xbox".
2. Prologue. Game announced at TGA without platforms. PUBG Corporation.

Sony has shown with the PS3 they can make poor decisions as well. There online play was rubbish compared to MS. So yeah, it's not like everything Sony touches turns to gold.
The OG Xbox was an excellent peice of gaming hardware. The 360 was excellent. Xbox one was poor, Xbox One X is excellent, and the best console hardware we have seen to date. It looks like they will follow the X with another good console and are beefing up their first party studios, where they now have as many as Sony.
I'm pretty happy with how MS are travelling at this point.

The issue is not visual flair. It's the general design decisions.
Arguably the biggest opportunity for next gen games will be related to stuff like AI, world density, removal of corridors, hidden loading screens etc. Catering to old hardware greatly diminishes the ability for developers too evolve from existing design decisions.
Tell me what games on the horizon in the next 18 months are going to need all this massive increase that wont be able to be gimped down for lower hardware?

I don't know? I just want the best possible version of next gen games that utilize the hardware to the fullest. Designing your game around the restrictions of the jaguar CPUs and no SSD, is not going to help with that.

It’s a bit weird for him to argue against facts. How does having to design for jaguar CPU and 1.3 tf would not restrict next gen gAmes?

I think they do some things better than in past. They bought some studios which mean more games. Of course their studios isnt on the same level as PS studios but will be better overall than this gen which was very bad.

They will be designed around the Ryzen CPU and Navi GPU with Ray Tracing and VRS. There will be RT on games that are played on the new consoles, and the RT will be missing from the old consoles. Same with VRS, same with the extra texture etc.
They will be designed for the XSX and gimped down for the old ones.
MS are just trying to look after all their customers.

Playground Games, Turn 10, 343 Ind are as good as some of the Sony studios. Who knows what level the other studios will rise to. The Inititive will show their new game soon. Ninja Theory has shown their game already. One thing you underestimate is that MS has all the money and resources to build those studios up. They could also turn around and buy out another couple of studios like Remedy or Sega. They have the cash to do it.
As far as the gap between Sony and MS studios goes, ND puts out the Last Of Us and Uncharted that currently MS doesnt have an answer to, but Turn 10 is as good as Poly as a car racing studio, and is actually more productive than Poly is. Playground Games with Forza Horizons make the best open world car racing game around. Halo is better than Killzone, and Gears is a AAA franchise. Now I'm not saying MS is just gonna catch right up, because it wont be easy, but it's gonna be fascinating to see what MS studios put out, and what other studios they buy.
This next gen is exciting for Xbox owners.

Another black and black PS5 game case concept, this time with the banner on the side like the PS1 cases. By MasterKhan_ on Reddit.

Again. It's not about visual flair. No one is arguing the games won't look great.

It's the fundamental design decisions. You can't make a balls to the wall next gen experience if you need to make sure the fundamentals work on the OG XB1 with jaguar CPU and old ram/HDD speeds.

There is no logical argument against this. If you want the very best next gen games, we need developers to get away from old devices. The sooner the better.

Exactly its a bit hard to downgrade something that relies on a faster CPU without just removing it entirely.

Not to mention having to redesign the whole game because HDD won't allow environments as big and detailed as SSD because of the data streaming speed and having to add/increase size of corridors/obstacles/walls to climb on the X1/X version to hide the loadings that aren't necessary on SSD.

You are stating this as a fact when you don't even know if this is the case. It makes way more sense for games to be designed to work on older hardware and then scale it up as opposed to doing it the other way around. Look at any cross gen games and compare them to games that were not cross gen, it's pretty clear to anyone that has eyes that non cross gen games are way ahead technologically.

Oh come on, you act like devs will have everything figured out right out of the gate. It's never been that way before and it's not going to start now.

Neither Sony , MS or any other studios will be leveraging the full capability of these new consoles with their first offerings. So just stop it.

It will be years before they fully grasp RDNA architecture comprehensively, and how to properly balance RT and other functions. No one is going to be doing balls to the wall anything at launch. Seriously, you can relax.

Cross gen at the beginning of a new generation isn't going to be the epic deal breaker you're making it out to be.

Who said epic deal breaker. I never made it out to be some huge deal.

I'll go back to my original statement. The sooner devs move off the old generation, the better. That goes for MS and Sony.
I don't want the new Halo game designed with OG XB1 in mind.

Exactly. While I play on Xbox, I want Sony at the top of their game. I also want Nintendo to stop with the kiddie games consoles and give us another GameCube.

Time will show all.
