LOL @ anyone judging how innovative a game from a tiny gameplay clip.

I wonder how "innovative" people thought Demon's Souls was when they saw it first. Not very I'm guessing, cos visually, that game looked like crap and yet it effectively spawned a whole new genre.

I remember seeing half an hour gameplay from stage 1-1 on TGS after seeing the amazing trailer and saying to myself "This is going to be mediocre - ugh, classic FROM Software". Then (after a few months) I saw the reviews giving it 9s and 10s and I was woah, maybe it actually IS good! And I bought it … played it … and loved it. Loved it more than I ever loved Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

It'll be awesome to play a remake.

no, but both said hardware accelerated. the mentioned gtx 1080 / pascal solution is based on (software) shaders.

There is no such thing as software shaders. You can do ray-tracing in the pipeline. It's just that you won't have dedicated cores with special registers that handle ray-tracing specific stuff. So who knows what these consoles will have in them.

Better description Monster walks upright until it runs across the room has four yellow eyes, four arms and two legs. Is brownish in color and stands taller than the main character until it runs across the room using all six limbs. Kind of insect like but very scary. The environment main character and monster all look real. Like not stylistic but photo realistic also I have never seen anyone use sub surface scattering to light a scene.

From what you're describing, it sounds very similar to the first Half Breed Boss fight in the Order 1886 that takes place inside of a dark kitchen. It sounds like the Dev team remade that scene with their updated engine and added a new creature just to show the leap in technology that next gen will bring. As many of you will recall, you run into Vampires towards the end of the game even though you never get to fight them. You just light them on fire in their caskets.

The trailer is definitely either two games for sure, Resistance 4 or The Order 1887/Sequel. But Resistance is getting pretty heavily ruled out for me because even though the Aliens in that game have yellow eyes, they don't have 4 arms, they don't speak, the main character of the game is not clearly recognizable and The Order 1886 specifically has the shoulder mounted communicator.

And finally the icing on the cake, Osiris said that this creature is capable of inflicting some sort of curse upon you. What happens when you get bit by a Vampire? Exactly, you turn into one.

I believe what we are hearing about here is The Order 1887/Sequel where the Half Breeds are mostly no longer a threat and instead the story picks up directly after the last one left off. You play as a solo Sir Galahad and you have to fight the Vampire Menace as well as track down Lord Hastings in order to stop the Vampires from reaching the New World of the United States.

To me it sounds like these Vampires will be heavily stylized and will be sort of a natural evolution from the Vampires that we saw in the first game. These new Vampires are a little bit farther removed from human form in order to stand out as their new, own unique character that is easily recognizable in the franchise.

Let me know what you guys think. Of course this is all speculation but I think I am on to something here. Thank you for hyping me up Osiris. I know it's been a few days but if you feel like talking about it any more or hinting at anything else about this game I'd appreciate it!

If you look at something like god war, their are 4 or 5 animated enemies on screen (maybe up to 8) with certain moves and AI, limited by old CPUs.

I expect better gameplay with more enemies and better AI, more immersive battles and gradiose, No I dont zoom in 300X to see ants crawling on Bark.

The new CPUs will hopefully allow massive potential game play changes, although if written for the old Ps4 / Xb1 they will not.
I actually don't want massive GoW battles. I like the feeling of every encounter feeling significant and every enemy feeling like a big challenge. It made everything more intimate and impactful. I guess a couple larger battles wouldn't go amiss

With the old CPUs many games did not have a choice....Yes big bosses are great, like the Valeryie in GOW, but I would like to be overwelmed sometimes.

Even so, a game looking like an AAA PS4 game should NOT be labeled as trash.
Sorry, I have to bin this one.

So one of the PS5 leaks will turn out to be correct, and with things getting closer, which one is starting to stand out?
The Reddit leak is in the lead for me. The one that had the "time to play" slogan right.
It also had the event location correct for the reveal right. The leak said the 5th of Feb was the date, so it seems they have the month right.
If it does turn out correct it has the PS5 at 10tflops (most likely 40cus @ 2.0 ghz).
The 10tflop number seems to be picking up speed as well.
No wrongiswrong it does not seem to be picking up speed.

No console will will run thst fast any time soon. 2ghz isn't happening on any machine

What do you expect as far as innovative next-gen gameplay that's not already being done today? The only thing I see is more NPC on-screen and more choices and options. Aside from that, I can't see gaming evolving all that much.

Unless VR makes more strides, I feel it's more of the same.
I know you didn't ask me but what I hope for versus what I expect are two different things.

What I hope is for devs to make better use of technology to improve physics, interactivity, and player agency. I hope that they innovate in mechanics such that mission structure and fail states aren't solely dictated by the player shooting the right person at the right time.

What I expect, unfortunately, is more of the same and only so much interactivity as long as it results in lots of pretty particle effects that disappear after 10 seconds. The reasoning is laid out before us, as that is exactly what's happened the past 2 gens as on average, interactivity, physics, and innovation somehow regressed despite more capability!

I member decimating a village with an artillery strike in Bad Company 2, which released for the 360 ten years~ ago.

If I don't see that level of destruction in more games next gen, then what the hell?

Problem is the fucking casuals and dudebros that play FIFA and COD don't care for better physics and destruction, better AI etc etc, they're happy eating the same shit EA and Activision keep shovelling them the past 10 years. Seriously.

I want proper destruction and next-gen levels of interaction with environments and enemies (like proper damage models for enemies in FPS or vehicles in racers) but too many motherfuckers out there think 4K and high FPS is good enough for next gen so the needle is not going to be moved a lot. I sincerely hope I am wrong, hopefully DICE can lead the way on the PC front and GG or SSM on the console space can do something that means we can finally break away from what is essentially Quake's engine but with much better textures and IQ/effects (if we're talking FPS).

I'd take a new age Warhawk. I just want sony to make a solid MP shoot for once.

Idk I've played a gd amount of solid ones which include through the ages mag, Warhawk, killzone 2 mp was my fav fps shooter of all time, Uncharted mp's are also super fun for me in the tps genre, TLOU factions was one of my favorite mp's of all time Def better than alot of stake shit tht gets hyped up etc..

If it’s too good to be true....

Also, on the scope of next gen games, as a designer myself I’ll say my old adage:

“just because you can, it doesn’t mean you should”

So for example, GTA, ina fully destroyable city... would be utterly terrible for Gameplay reasons. You can’t build you game the way the older ones were built, you can’t use any sort of mission structure, you can’t do x, y, z... everything goes out the window because now you can’t guarantee everybody has the same play experience.

So... just because you can, it doesn’t mean you should.

another example is realistic damage when you shoot people in COD. Let’s say you load up a MP game, and every shot is real. Shoot them in the arm and they can’t use their gun. Shoot them in the leg and they can’t run and drag themselves about. Shoot them in the gut and they will sit on the ground screaming for a medic for a few hours... and it instantly is no longer fun.

Designing games isn’t about making things real, it’s about making them fun. It’s not about having everything be perfect to reality, it’s about making something work for gameplay. What works in one game (crackdown destruction) won’t work in another (gta).

So... just because you can, it doesn’t mean you should.

I kind of assumed Forza sequel would be a shoe in for launch. 7 came out Oct 2017 which would give them a three year development cycle for the next game. Obviously could be wrong but having a racing game at or near launch has always been their thing.

I agree wit this. I would be more surprised if Forza wasn't at launch.

It would at least be nice that one doesn't die by being shot in the arm or in the foot a few times. How about enemies showing no visual damage after being repeatedly hit in the same spot in games like Dark Souls. I get that games cannot be fully realistic, but there are still tons of realistic things they can add that would enhance gameplay experience.

This is why I believe we are still in infancy stage of videogame development and in 15-20 years time today's games and their mechanics will probably be laughable just like PS2 era games are now.

it would be sad news, beyond sad if they bought the FromSoftware :( PS gamers supporting it's games and respect them, so to go to xbox would be sad day. there are studios just which don't go well with console. this is one of those.
Just buy an Xbox or PC and play their games. I just don't get this mentality people have that they tie themselves up to one console and refuse to play games anywhere else.
