For me it was the Order.

When the opening cutscene ended and you're standing on the roof I didn't realize the game had started and just watched for about 30 seconds before realizing it looked that good WHILE playing

Gameplay wise it was god of war one shot style or horizon

Now while I oddly enjoyed the game and thought it was dead sexy, that’s the same issue again, it looks cgi, it looks great, but it played like a bag of bollocks. I’m talking a proper, new, fresh experience, you know? Not visually, but just gameplay wise.

I want to know out of the 4 what level of graphics can we expect this gen?

Again these are real time tech demos from 7 years ago.

Having watched again, I'm don't think Heretic is double, it just seems next level. The others don't look that demanding.

Well I said god of war because of both the uniqueness of each enemy and the seamlessness of the open world and Horizon because of the variety of animals and the detail on each one that did change the gameplay. I would also throw death stranding in there as a unique and seamless open world and even though I'm not personally into this type of game, all the battle Royale stuff with the massive and previously unthinkable multiplayer scenarios we can do now.

If there's some hard data in benchmarks for another PS5 chip, I want to see it uncovered through datamining. Otherwise it doesn't exist to me.

The 'everything scales' defence is semi-passable right now because Sony/MS havent revealed half the full extent of what separates these new consoles from last gen.

Namely, we're getting tantalising tidbits of info about the howitzer that are the SSDs in these machines and how integrated they are to performance. The more we find out the more that defence becomes untenable.

Not everyone of course, but if you look around social media then most of them are convinced that games will somehow scale from 1.3 tflop HDD console and be super duper amazing looking. I'm sure they'll look good, but they'll definitely be held back by that garbage tech that's inside Xbox One.

To be honest, I'm not that impressed by Gears 5. It has some crazy character detail and animations, but I think they sacrificed some of that visual fidelity by going 60FPS. I'm not saying it looks bad, it's easily one of the better looking games last year, but there are a few games that look better than it.

Lol dude... Better check DF articles. If you said the PS4 Pro I get where you would be coming from, but the base PS4... I haven't seen any article saying a game on the base PS4 looks better than games on the OneX.

No, but X is the most powerful console and we haven't seen anything on it to outdo PS exclusives. As the post above me indicates, Sony have much more talented studios as of now.

judging from my destiny 2 experience on pc with nvme.
the time spend looking at your ship is not only because of local loading because it's nearly as long as on ps4.

It's not optimized for NVMe. No game is at the moment.

Especially since PCIe 4.0 just came out and most SSD setups are still on SATA.

You also only load as fast as matchmaking hosts I believe as well in Destiny. It is set the same across all platforms.

Well they can't release more games on Xbox so the only option is PS4/PS5 or PC.
But I don't think SO will come to PS4/PS5.

But surely if the underlying tech is very powerful then it would be able to show itself on more powerful console (X) and make the game look better than what's on Playstation. Nah, those are some of the elements. Lighting always takes the cake. Without good use of lighting and shadows, it can look very bland quickly.

Yes. They're hard data, they've come up around the time we'd expect, and they're numbers we can reliably trace and reference. And tbf, those aren't the only two sources; multiple GPU benchmarks have been datamined, those in reference to PS5 mainly still consistently being Oberon.

I could say I'm a developer too, but that wouldn't actually make me a developer (just as an example; I would hope the guy is being legit in their claim as a developer but it's not hard to fake that). And while I think the guy is probably affiliated with a development house in some way, there's no say to who that dev is, or his position in the hierarchy at that company.

Data & Statistics (and patterns in data and circumstantial results) > Blind Faith and Hearsay. Every. Single. Time.

Sony's got some of the best graphics artists in the biz, but they only got a chance to flex those skills because Sony gave them the budgets to do so. We know MS has suppressed most of their devs, particularly studios like Rare, from really flexing their potential.

When they let them flex themselves and give them some breathing room and budget, you get stuff like Hellblade 2 and Project:Mara. And yes those were in-engine but so was Uncharted 4's reveal trailer, and the final game pretty damn close to that reveal trailer.

There is nothing more to add than what has been said by any developer who has commented. At the beginning of the year PS5 was still the one that offered the best performance. I don't know if that has changed with the new Devkits, I don't have access to that information at this time and personally I think that (theoretically) I won't have physical access until early summer, for my part. And I don't like to talk about what I haven't personally experienced. I can say that he says "X" and he says "Y", but since the opinion is so different I prefer not to internalize this information.

If you want I invent data, or if you want I tell you a number ... 13.8 (and I start the speculative machinery). But I don't think it's right.
