If they wanted to mislead us, that's one thing. But they told this to investors - they aren't lying to them.
Companies lie to investors all the time. It's simply how business works. Companies announce games and release dates knowing that they're not hitting those dates in order to get an increase in their stock prices. Announcing a Switch Pro now would only hurt their sales for the next 8 months but announce it in July and release in September ala Switch Lite (which majority didn't believe was happening either) would be a brilliant but expected move.
Has nothing to do with misleading us. It's simple business. Nintendo is making a killing off of Switch which three years later is still selling like hotcakes at $300. If anything, the Lite model is underwhelming. Switch Pro will happen for two main reasons - first being next gen ports. If fans/Nintendo want any hope of getting next gen ports to Switch, you need stronger hardware. Second reason being BOTW 2 and other Nintendo first party titles.
Switch is equal to maybe 360/PS3 and even then, probably not. Nintendo needs more powerful hardware to truly showcase their games and get more out of them plus the next gen ports.
Everyone can believe what they want but me, I 100% believe that a Switch Pro is being released in September for $400 and I sold my base Switch for $200 in preparation for it and even if by the very slim chance that it doesn't happen, I save $400 and put it towards Xbox Series X and PS5 launch titles. Either way works for me.
But in the end, right or wrong, I stand by my prediction.
