Corrected.

Bar the awful situation where you can't even transfer your save to a new console, we know nothing about this game apart from "crafting" and "looks nice".

They've been so tight-lipped about this game that I'm starting to think it might not be all that.

If it were any other company, I’d say that could be a possibility. It happens all the time.

However, Nintendo’s been doing these scarce info drops, followed by giant reveals just before launch, for quite a while. It’s almost their style at this point.

I do think it’s weird that we have as little as we have, though. I would have expected another big trailer to come through in Fall of last year. Maybe Nintendo feels confident enough that the world knows what Animal Crossing is, at this point though? That basically all they need is the unveil and the pre-launch reveal?

But fans of Animal Crossing are kind of like furries, in that if a second goes by without them thinking about wanting to slut it up in a village filled with animals, they will literally die.
:messenger_hushed: I guess it make me "furry" to like a show like Beastars?

According to the Nintendo page for the game, there will be in game purchases as well. They've done this for games that have season passes mind you, but for this series in particular a microtransaction model must appear extremely tasty to Nintendo. Generally they haven't been too shit with that so I'm only mildly concerned, but the possibility for this game to be a shitshow is absolutely present.

Absolutely not. Beastars is fucking incredible, There are some things where you can say you're probably kinda furry if you like it, but this aint one of em.

I don’t think they’d do that.

Mobile, yes, absolutely, but they tried to deliver a fun touch-customized $10 Mario score attack, with everything included, to that market, only to be criticized up and down by them, and the game to underperform versus expectations.

Is it any wonder that everything since has been a cash grab? If I was Nintendo, I’d just use these customers too. They’re literally dumb enough to ask for it.

In terms of console, Nintendo DLC and in-game purchases have always been thoughtfully handled, and additive to an experience, rather than harming it, something that‘s received a lot of praise and success.

I agree completely, but I do wonder if the tide will ever slowly start to turn, given how successful some of their mobile games have been.
Animal Crossing is the perfect game to try that out it... I don't understand, going on the past games, why AC would need "in game purchases".

I think this is the first AC that’s really in the era of Nintendo fully embracing DLC and patches. I don’t recall New Leaf even having a patch until many, many years later, when the campground was added.

I do understand the concern, but I’d be surprised if ‘in-game purchases’ wasn’t just the typical DLC pack for a major Nintendo game.

I don’t want to write off concerns, far from it. That’s something customers need to be vocal about, so it never happens, but for now, Nintendo’s (console) history on this stuff is stellar. I don’t feel a need to worry, or not trust them.

I am really curious to see what a Nintendo plans for this year.

Sony and Microsoft's next consoles are just around the corner. I am curious to see how this will affect Switch third party support.

Gotta imagine they drop Zelda in Q4 or another bomb like Prime Trilogy. I can’t see them having a flat 2020 when the stage is set again to dominate this year HW wise.

The dream scenario here is getting original, good games from third party publishers and not gimped ports. Or "exclusive" ports of older games like it got for Katamari. I doubt any new, big ass AAA game for the next gen will be doable in the Switch.

Super Mario 3D World Deluxe.
The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess and Windwaker bundle.
The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past remake.
Super Metroid remake.
Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Some of these things are hinted at, rumored, and some are logical steps in preparation of new entries of respective series.

A reminder: Monolith Soft was also hiring staff for a Zelda-related title since early last year.

I was a pretty big fan of Animal Crossing but then each game that followed was just the exact same game with almost zero improvement. I really hope the pull a Luigis Mansion 3 (as in really exceeding my expectations by taking the basics and fully fleshing them out to a much bigger, better experience) or else I'm just not touching it. After Stardew Valley and it's ultimate perfection a new Animal Crossing is really going to have to deliver the goods to make me care.

Same here really, normally if an anime is entirely CG it goes into the trashcan as far as I'm concerned but they did it really well in Beastars, rarely ever got bothered by it.

Normally it's been okay yeah, but the post Iwata management doesn't seem as resistant to this sort of stuff like they were before. I don't expect it to happen but I also don't think the chances are at 0% either.

Thankfully the 2nd season is already confirmed and I cant wait and I hope the OP is as good as the first season.

If I wake up Wednesday with no Thursday direct announcement....I may just finally go crazy. This wait has been killing me. Especially in this gaming doldrum known as Jan/Feb.

Nintendo....

I just went back and picked up some 3DS games I had passed on when switch came out originally.
Having a great time playing Etrian Odyssey.

I was going to say that i can't really feel enthusiasm for any new console games. I was going to say that i don't own a console, that the games therefore feel many millions of miles away from my PC, and i was going to get that I'm so far behind most series that my fanboyism for them has long since morphed into retro games enthusiasm.

And it's true.

But Metroid Prime 4.

Metroid Prime was a perfect game.

Above posters: at least you can play the original and sequel on Dolphin!

As nice as that is, I prefer the convenience of the Switch. The option to play on the tv or portably, depending on the situation is so simple and yet has been a revelation for me. I find it hard to game any other way now as I don’t want to be locked to the tv or PC. Especially for long games like RPGs.

Animal Crossing event:
Featuring Tom Nook cupcakes, a giant cardboard frame that you stand behind to take your picture in, and giant fruits. All the Nintendo ambassadors will have been invited and they will all upload their videos on YouTube on the same day.

We will see how close I got in a few days I guess

If rumors are correct, we'll see two Directs this month. One probably dedicated to Animal Crossing, and the other to other titles.

WTF is a Nintendo Influencer? Flying media to a event I get but Influencers, I never new they existed.
There is a group of people called Nintendo ambassadors. Like officially sanctioned social media people nintendo either pays, or gives free stuff to... invites to events like this... like screened family friendly types
