Microsoft confirms 12 TF RDNA 2 for the Xbox Series X

“I would say a learning from the Xbox One generation is we will not be out of position on power or price,” says Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s Xbox and gaming chief, in an interview with The Verge. “If you remember the beginning of this generation we were a hundred dollars more expensive and yes, we were less powerful. And we started Project Scarlett with this leadership team in place with a goal of having market success.”

Someone is going to pricematch someone else.

What do you mean? It was even beforehand in Sony’s court. Microsoft already showed the console. Sony only showed the logo, which was nothing new. Lol
While they did release a logo, it got more traction and social media awareness than revealing the actual Xbox Series X console lol. Sony has the ability to vhange the narrative, a matter of when is the question.
Soyny too busy cancelling every 2020 event to pay attention.
because a virus is killing people and they are worried for their employees well-being......oh stupid stupid sony...…..

Im wondering if it would be the other way around, if would be too ok. ☺ like that person wouldn’t be banned instantly.🤔

No one has ever been banned instantly for a simple console war comment that I can remember. Usually that is reserved for racisim or personal attacks or something. The worst that would happen would be a formal warning or maybe a ban from that thread alone.

And there it is.

We can definitely put the "but 2x the X doesn't literally mean 12!" to bed. Always knew he was speaking in terms of Moore's Law with that claim. Plus, they never shut down the 12TF rumors when they were spreading, knowing if it actually wasn't 12 they'd lose a lot of goodwill that was generating.

Now the question I guess is, is it actually "12" or something like 12.x. I'm guessing 12.18 but it's possible it could be more, some rumors were kicking up saying they wanted to push near 13 but that'd be pushing the GPU to the absolute edge of the sweetspot, and it's already a pretty big chip as-is.

So they probably won't reach that xD. But I'm glad someone finally confirmed something officially in terms of at least some of the specs, that is reassuring. I hope this bodes well for Sony and PS5 as well whenever they're finally ready to start talking again.

Does this confirm that PS5 is 9TF as amd leaks shows ?

Funny thing is I wasn't even thinking about that when I just posted xD. I mean, it definitely shows that the Github stuff and the GPU benchmarks are real and pertinent. BUT, the dataminers may not be finished mining the entire database.

I'm still hoping for another Oberon stepping to show up with some more "meat on the bone", as it were. Hopefully within a month's time or April/May at the latest because that's where I honestly think the window of opportunity will probably close for such to pop up, IMHO.

That said I'm ready to accept both systems wherever they land in terms of specifications; ultimately it's always about the games (and smart marketing).

Disappointed. Some people on this forum promised me 16.8 RDNA TFLOPS with a dual GPU HBM3 Stacked Solution.

joking. This is impressive for a console.

Honestly if it isn't a quantum processor with volumetric space RAM, it's dead to me.

I kid

The bolded part is what I like about Xbox ATM and as an upcoming consumer I hope they stay the course.
Not talking about their sales figures as most companies do that when announcing financial results, I'm talking about their messaging in regards to Xbox X/ Series X.
Boldly sharing is rather telling IMO, the curtain has been unveiled and they now know who's is bigger and what's not hence why it's reflected as such in the messaging - confidence.

At Xbox we value being open and transparent with you, and I’m proud to be able to share details about some of the technologies we are enabling for the next generation, and look forward to boldly sharing more as we head towards E3.

EDIT: typo

How is this weird? That means that they have dedicated cores that just do one thing: Ray tracing.
Now ray tracing won’t use any other resources. This is HUGE! And crazy expensive lol
It will still have an impact on performance, because it uses the same RAM. Raytracing is very RAM-hungry. Wonder how fast their memory setup will be.

So no more ambiguous PR going forward? :pie_thinking:

So while this is my favorite feature. It’s ruined by always online games that disconnect you.
  • Quick Resume: The new Quick Resume feature lets you continue multiple games from a suspended state almost instantly, returning you to where you were and what you were doing, without waiting through long loading screens

Yeah. I agree. From Sony we mostly hear about sales there, sales, cancelling this blablabla

love that Xbox tells us more about interesting stufF. Also stuff that are not interesting to only shareholders and investors.
