Jason, reiner, colin are all reporters. Klee an ex reporter.

And i did make the distinction by saying reporters AND insiders.

Not all reporters are equal in their output.

8TF for current gen games. And Cerny said in the same breath talk of 8.4TFLOP performance with half precision floats and rapid packed maths etc.Cerny is a hard ware engineer.. Penello comes across as a used car salesman dressed in a sharp suit, he knows what he says is to gain mindshare for MS. He works for Amazon, but he was bragging how great his team is with working with team xbox regarding app Compatibility etc.

I already covered that, it's why I said Penello was low-balling. He probably didn't take some of those factors into account, such as it being for current-gen games.

You're now just throwing personal feelings into objective analysis, why would people take you at your word when you are slandering a rather known industry figure, regardless of how you personally feel about them? And it's not like Cerny isn't doing the same thing: saying things to keep Sony in mindshare. It's a big reason why he's the one doing these interviews and not Jim Ryan; Cerny is arguably one of the last people from the old guard PS team that built PS4 into a success. The others have left, some conspicuously.

At the end of the day both of these guys and the companies they work for are in this for the business and the money; even if what they say is pleasing to you, just know it's also part of their way to work you into their ecosystem (or remain in it, or invest in it even more).

With all this hints about consoles actually very close in power (plus mostly the same tech already officiall) and the modern state of the hardware, there is not much to be worried about imho.
1 full tf difference in power it would still be less than 10% and only regarding GPU. It's nothing, especially if you considers that games like the next battlefield, AC, Halo, HZD, GoW, GTA etc... they will convey a level of detail so microscopic that the average eye won't literally notice ANY difference. Any, at all. Most eyes will not see in moving gameplay a different filter, sighly lower AA, a shadow that is a fraction different, an object that pop up from the distance in one version and not in the other, especially while playing one version of the game at time. Art design, engines and skills will be the key to make a game better looking than another, between AAA.

Did you not read the Forbes article?

I'll bold parts for you.
Oh I see. Totoki
Did you read the transcript from the earnings call? Be honest.
I did. Totoki said "competition" and you are willing to pretend that he didn't mean Microsoft. I'm not. All gaming outlets have reported that Sony is waiting out Microsoft.
Also you are both intentionally ignoring the blatant point I was making. MS and Sony know each other's specs, just not each other's price. Sony isn't doing anything to quell the narrative that MS will have the most powerful machine.
Those are facts. Dig your heads into the sand as much as you like.

Not really if you look digital foundry videos there's a huge difference in graphics between Xbox One and ps4 (1.31 VS 1.84 tflops)

The SSD customisation from Sony will be in the controller and software stack.
No, I heard from inside sources that Sony's SSD will be on Azure, with their special quantum bit sync controller there is never going to be any kind of delays in transfer.

... What you said is actually my best guess as far as Sony's rumored SSD throughput advantage.

"huge", huge is PS3 vs PS4, not pixels count and some anti aliasing. DF is there to make those difference as a big deal, they stop gameplay, they zoom, they describe, 95% won't notice (framerate aside). But anyway to have a 40% difference like this gen, you need Cerny to fall with his creepy ass face on the devkit and fucking up the GPU, the One vs PS4 was already crazy and for stupid reasons, but now you will really need like a 8\9 tf machine vs Series X to see that again.

if you have 4 apples and i take 1 away, you’ve lost a lot.

These consoles are essentially you have 100 apples and I take 1 away.

while a single tf sounds like a lot of you compare it to say the PS4 being 1.84, it’s not a lot when you have much more power to play with. You actually end you needing more power to be taken away to see the differences.

That’s why people worrying about one being a tf or so off the other is so funny... chances are you won’t see that at all, and will need digital foundry and the like to even Point it out, and even then, you likely won’t really care. This isn’t Xbox one vs PS4 😂

lol you admonish him for slandering a known industry right after slandering reporters yourself.

no one knows wtf is going on with github, i doubt devs would know which means osiris likely doesnt know.

what we do know is that the clockspeeds of the ps4 and pro are in the ariel and oberon gpu profiles. thats literally the only link.

you know where we found the xbox one and xbox one x cpu clockspeeds? in an amd gpu leaked last week with the exact 1.7 and 2.3 clock profiles. its gpu was clocked at 1.2 ghz. and yet you dont see anyone from team github giving it any kind of validity even for lockhart because that would only be 3 tflops. i guess team data doesnt like it when the data doesnt suit them.

xDxeJl5.jpg

Not #TeamGithub, but I actually just remembered this and it could very well be Lockhart. In fact, it's almost certainly Lockhart and I always thought Lockhart should be focused more on streaming than local gameplay. 3.68TF RDNA2 would be great for a streaming device and it'd also mean Lockhart could probably hit $299.

Plus, if scalability is really as good as they say then I think they could offer native 1080p60 (or 1080p30) for most games because 3.68TF is more than 1/4 of XSX's 12TF, and it'll have similar CPU setup and RAM setup too (just less of it). Plus given the recent news I think that more or less solidifies this is Lockhart.

Big question now is does it come out this year?...

I didn't slander anyone. Just said some have better credentials than others. Was just referring that among the ones listed, i.e some of the ones they listed have better credentials than some of the other ones listed.

But I'm not gonna turn this into that kind of discussion, don't think it's needed.

12 Tflops.

How can they get there.
40CUs @ 2350Mhz - not gonna happen.
46CUs @ 2050Mhz - nah.
52CUs @ 1805Mhz - closer. Looks like a viable option
58CUs @ 1620Mhz - probably slightly too many active shaders.

Makes me think 56 Active CUs (out of 60) @ 1675Mhz is the way they have gone although if yields are good then 58 active at lower clocks lowers power and cooling requirements so makes for a quieter console.

Makes me think it must be built on N7+ as well to minimise power usage and thermals.

I still believe in 12.3 TFlops PS5 with 16GB HBM2 + 8 DDR4 (6 OS / 2 SSD Cache) and an Ultra-fast SSG-SSD (CPU-GPU) for U$499 with U$100 lost by unit.

- PS5 will be the showcase of Samsung's HBM2 memories.
- The ultra-fast SSD is necessary because CPU and GPU will stream data directly from it simultaneously.
- Sony can reduce the CPU clock because part of the load will be handled directly by GPU.
- HBM2 is expensive but has a huge advantage on space and energy consumption (which allowed Sony to push more on GPU clock), also has better performance.
- Less CUs, higher Clock, Sony's approach to getting a cheaper GPU with high teraflops count.

Just a dream! I'm not pretending to be a fake insider, please... it's just what I believe, I'm a man of faith!

Now let me back for what I was doing..

i dont know much about Osiris but he is looked at as totally unreliable over at Era. I dont know why but there must be a reason.
Well he is verified here, has made several good calls over the past months, is also recognised by other verified posters here and has posted extensive information about gameplay video and game playthroughs. Make of that what you want.

Oh s.... I might have figured out something!
I was looking at the instruction set for both GCN and RDNA, and there seem to be many differences. Since consoles are fully backward compatibile (no patches required), I'm wondering if the system software can modify istructions on the fly to make current gen run flawalessly (but I don't think it's so easy to do that) .... Or we are looking at GCN GPUs with RDNA features. Bang.

Think they could do again a Pro at the middle of the lifecycle. 🤔

Or they make the Apple "one more thing" and reveal a Playstation 4 Go! A tablet-hybrid which plays PS4 games digital only.

I think this totally depends on how fast adoption rate of 8K TVs are and if AMD has an APU ready for 8K.

I mean a mid life refresh is expected from both companies. But the reality is the market has two groups of distinct consumers. Those who want the top of the line tech (Apple 11 Pro Max) and those who just want new but without all the extra bells and whistles (Apple 11). Both will buy, but both have two different price points.

PSNow on tablets and phones tho 🤔

No matter where you BELIEVE things will fall I have to question how people can be so confident based on rumors and "leaks" which we cannot know are true or false. Why must we be so absolute with our guesses? I certainly hope for a 12tf PS5 but I can find rumors for or against it and no matter what I push here it won't change what Sony has

Well... I personally think a lite console no matter if it's from MS or sony could negativly affect the whole generation with games made for the lite consoles and not going to be optimized for the big ones. IMO a midgen upgrade is good while a start-downgrade is not.
