Well apparently the PlayStation 5 was/is that 9.2 Teraflops which we've seen popping up left and right now and the Xbox was speculated as being in the mid to upper 8 Teraflop range which has credence because the devkits at the time were just cobbled together as noted numerous times but things might change.

This would also give credence to all the rumors that followed where it was said that they were "close in performance".

PS5 will actually be a 16 bit system with an 8GFLOP GPU and a 100 MHz 486 CPU.
I just discovered Game Pass. 1$ for the first month. I see a lot of very enticing titles. Hooked on Surviving Mars for now.

No, the speculation ties together that it was because at the time the PlayStation 5 was deemed as being more powerful than Scarlett given the available devkits. If the system was 9.2 Teraflops then that would put Microsoft's preliminary devkits somewhere in the mid/high 8 Teraflop range. You have to remember Sony seemed to have stuff out well before Microsoft signifying MS jumped into the hardware pipeline a considerable amount of time later.
Also don't forget this is Navi we're talking about here, 8.5 Teraflops in a devkit would be like 10.6 Teraflops relative to the Xbox One X.

No one ever speculated that Xbox would be 8TF, they just attacked Reiner because they couldn't accept the notion that PS5 is more powerful. After that we got the infamous and inconsistent Github leak that stated that PS5 is 9TF and Xbox is 56Cus.
That's basically it, Github vs various insiders contradicting each other and not a single one brought down Xbox to 8TF ever.

This is a ridiculous line of discussion. There is no evidence or reason to believe that anyone ever thought the PS5 devkit was ahead of a theoretical (or non existent) 8tf Xbox. The only way that makes sense is if PS5 was being compared to Lockhart, and would still be crazy because of course the next flagship console from Sony would be ahead of a low spec, budget focused console.

You're not paying attention to what I'm saying, this is retrospectively speaking.
If the PS5 was 9.2 Teraflops and Microsoft had those preliminary devkits floating around which people said they did, and these people were saying the PS5 was more powerful because of that. That naturally puts those early kits from MS being in the mid to high 8 Teraflop range which on the back of that further fuels why people thought the PS5 was more powerful for a number of months.
So maybe the PS5 was always targeting this 9.2 Teraflop threshold, Microsoft's early kits were weaker in comparison which sparked the weaker narrative but the reality is they and the final system were nowhere near finalized.

But I am convinced the fact they always go back to gihub in light of 100% developers saying otherwise is why I believe their here to gain mindshare, and once they have their foot in the door of your mind, they will peddle another agenda thats aims to lure you to the MS ecosystem.
Again, I will apologize for being wrong and thinking they are astroturfers if they end up bring true, but the fact they keep forcing the discourse to Github shows theres some organizing behind the scenes between Era and here. Both sides have users pushing the same agenda about Github whenever theres any positive news around PS5.
I'm curious when I see the same tactics being used on multiple forums across the internet.

That one is going to release so much information now available to the public that it would be make a Sony reveal moot, as Sony has to go first for a reveal on their own terms.

Ok, let's try this thought exercise. Let's say it's true and Sony targeted a lower end 9.2TF spec for price and MS went high end with their 12TF beastie. So, why do we know all these details about the XBX EXCEPT for price? I mean, if they know that Sony went lower end, there's no harm in announcing price because everyone would be ok with it, given the difference in specs, right? There's really no reason not to go all in if they know this.
The reason NOT to announce pricing is if they DON'T know this, or they know that Sony is targeting the same spec they are or higher. THAT would be a reason for both to hold off as they determine price and try to figure the other's strategy.
In short, there's NO reason to not talk about price when releasing these other specs about the boxes unless they know/suspect that both boxes will be very similar. So, time will tell, but the longer this goes the more I'm thinking that the PS5 is going to be very close to the XBX just like devs have been saying in these 'leaks.'
If they ARE close in spec than even a small difference- like say the PS5 WAS 13TF and the XBX is 12.3 or something. Or if the PS5 is say 10.5TF and the XBX is 12.3. Those are smaller percentages of real power than last gen with the PS4 and XB1 but that difference WOULD be key to marketing if you had to pay $50 more for that box...or $50 less, right? THAT is likely why both companies are being silent about price, besides the industry component issues that are driving up costs. They have till this summer basically for those pricing issues to be resolved, but they STILL want to have a better sense of the piece of the market the other competitor is targeting.
At any rate, just some thoughts on this whole pricing and silence issue. I can guarantee one thing.. Neither company is avoiding talking price because they are "scared." They have a defined business plan by now and will execute to it regardless of where their competitor is. There are only a few things left to be adjusted. Final retail price is one.

This is my old SEGA Game Gear. The story behind it might be funny though. I got it when I got my tool "circumcised " then relatives come and congratulate you and give you money. The shit you make is as good as selling drugs at that age I remember getting around ~600 Omani Rials (~$1560 USD). That Game Gear was like a dream after playing my cousin's with Mickey Mouse game on it. Sadly, I couldn't find the Mickey Mouse game, got that Bruce Lee game for like 17 OME ($44.2) and another football game I lost for like ($54.6).
I really miss that phrase (MADE IN JAPAN), we don't get those "seals of quality" anymore, with all due respect to China. The Batteries don't work anymore, need to be fixed, but can work through direct charger that I lost. Need to buy one from the web. This was my only true handheld gaming console, other that I got only the very simple ones that you play ancient games on like these:
