Guy literally tried his best to keep shit from stirring up. Blatantly says that porting is not the usual strategy and people still make it seem like Sonys entire catalogue is coming to PC day and date.
No day and date, no exact period for a game to release on PC, if at all. Problem solved.

I personally dont give a shit if Sony starts releasing or not its exclusive games on PC.

As a gamer, why should I care? Because Sony could lost/win more money/new users in the future? Who cares! It is not my company.

I mean, I am going to buy a PS5 day 1 no matter what; for brand affinity and extreme convenience.

I read here a lot of people acting like they were marketing experts and have all the internal data that Sony has to make its own business decisions.

I just ask Sony, as a PS user, to deliver a very powerful 12/13tf console because I want to play their games in the best possible way.

And I do not care if Microsoft has to boost the XSX specs to 13/14tf in the last minute to compete with Sony in this new-gen.

I mean, that already happened in 2013 :messenger_grinning_sweat:

This should come as no surprise but I am hearing there definitely will be supply shortages for PSV and XseX as well. Still no word of any sort of delay but they will not be shipping as many units as they initially did with PS4 or XB1.
Wtf not as many? I remember PS4 already had crazy shortages here in europe....

I always thought PS2 CPU was fast because of 128-bit capabilities? You say gta wasnt a fair comparison, but it's not MS fault sony build PS2 hardware without HDD. At least GTA Vice City port on xbox looks comparable to PS2 version. I could always compare Splinter Cell games, but then PS2 hardware would look extremely bad in comparison :p.

There were impressive looking fog effects in GTA 3-VC-SA and I have only noticed performance problems in fillrate heavy scenes with a lot of smoke or rain effects, but overall gta games run much better on xbox. Solid 30fps with dips only during smoke heavy scenes on xbox was still better than constant streaming pauses and fps dips during entire game on PS2. I have played GTA games for the first time on PS2 and I was still able to enjoy them fully, but xbox ports were clearly better.
So lets compare silent Hill 2 ... where the xbox Version gets totaly outclassed

News has been rough lately. Any indication when we will be hearing about next-gen or the like? I know you probably can't answer but I'm dying for a time window. If I knew I could just go on hibernate mode.

its not just about sony making or losing money. if first party exclusives are no longer exclusives then why would first party publishers take the risks they normally take? Dreams took 9 years. literally. the last guardian 11 years. horizon 6 years. ghost over 6 years. days gone over 7 years. do you see third party publishers take these risks? how many studios has EA shutdown this gen? they pulled the plug on Amy's game after just 3 years. then they killed two other studios that took over that game within the next 3 years.

Sony's first party games never sold millions of units. I remember that tone deaf aaron greenberg tweeting boasting how Halo 3 outsold like 10 PS3 exclusives on its own. and yet sony continued to make those expensive games because they knew exclusives sold consoles. they could take that risk. when that exclusivity goes away, they become just like every other third party publisher that only cares about the bottom line.

now thats just the worst case scenario and this scenario might not affect Sony's first party output in the long run, but saying this has no impact on gamers is incorrect. We need first party publishers to invest in games like Death Stranding. i dont see any third party publisher greenlighting an AAA game about walking. let alone giving it the push Sony gave it.

Have been told this is why preorders will be essential.

If you preorder you should get one but as of right now they fear you will not be able to walk into a store on day 1 and grab one off the shelf.

Yeah, that's too be expected. I think there could be a delay in a territory or two, but I think come hell or high water, MS will launch something this year in the US/UK at least. They can't let Sony launch first and if Sony delays, they have a huge opening.

Also, depending on how the world economy goes, demand might not be as high for expensive consoles and I think, MS may have a big opportunity with Lockhart if that's the case.

Exclusives help to sell a console, but they aren't the main driving factor since last generation, its about marketing and other stuff too.

The PS3 outsold the X360 at the end thanks to mainland Europe and Japan, if both had gone like US and UK where the winner gets the lead, then the X360 would have like sold 100+ million units while the PS3 would have been at 70 million.

I don't think so. Each company will want some differentiation. It doesn't have to be power but they'll try other features.

Yea, that appears to be the case. There will be a difference in exclusive content, feature set, and games (1st or 3rd). The hardware being nigh identical is awesome because multiplats, won't lose out and it is going a war of quality ip and content.

I'll go to my local shop the minute it's announced to secure pre-orders.

Interesting times. Personally, I don't think I've seen any generation Console available day 1 to where I could walk in and just take one off the shelf. I remember my days trying to get a PS2/3 day of. PS2, went at 4am day 1 to a long line at Target trying to get one. Only the first 100 were allowed a unit. PS3, similar situation. Took me 3 months to get one luckily at a Gamestop. Never again making that mistake. pre-order, boys.

EDIT: Just to add, I would not be surprised if Retailers are going to ask for the full amount of a pre-order up front to secure a unit. I think it's better safe to be prepared to have it all up front.

What sales are you talking about, hardware, specific software, etc.? They have a smaller base, so obviously exclusives aren't going to move as many copies. At the end of the day, I'd say GamePass had a much bigger impact on sales than Play Anywhere. GamePass (specifically GP Ultimate) is going to kill GOLD revenue for a bit also, that up to three year conversion last e3 caused many to extend memberships early, that will erase a lot of renewals that should be happening now. Numbers can get a little muddy sometimes.
I meant hardware sales.

Lockhart will NOT be a thing. If MS is making it, it will not sell more than the XSX.

I genuinely can't tell if you're being serious or not. If you are being serious then I think gaming in general isn't for you. Am I reading that correct? Are you saying if Sony start putting their exclusives onto pc, then you(and others) will stop playing games? It's like the most retarded thing I've heard.

Playstation could literally put out 0 exclusives next gen and still sell more ps5's. Your main platform is the one you play your 3rd part games on, the ones your friends are on - and with the amount of consoles Sony have sold this gen, that's a lot of people with a lot of friends on that platform. This won't damage Sony in any way shape or form. If you think otherwise then I'm sorry, but you must be a little chemically unbalanced.
Game is for me... it was always my main hobby.

But now the companies are tunedthat hobby in somethinG it is not to me.
Sony is late but they will probably follow that shit way.

I left the gaming hobby soon or late... no regret because I had played wonderful games though these 30 years playing games.

The only game that truly made me remember how good games are this generation was Death Stranding and game like it are no more appreciate.

You are right with these decisions games today is not for me anymore.

I’m pretty stable and conscience of what I want and what the industry is delivering to me.

I do understand what you are you saying and the main point you try to rise, and even so, I tell you, neither you nor I have enough data to trully understand what is going on.

Of course we could speculate about this matter all day long, but I assure you that if your analysis is the correct one, the same good points that you have risen, have been assessed by Sony HQ. That is all what I say.

Yea I heard that a while ago also unfortunately and supposed shortages will roll into 2021. Also I hope people are keeping up with the news as far as CODIV-19 is concerned. New York is closing schools and they are actually talking about playing NBA games without fans in the arenas. Lots of deaths being reported nation wide and I am currently working from home (I am okay with this last bit) its getting ugly out here.

Do you have any inclination when preorders may go live? I'm not sure when it happened for this current generation.

Scary times. Gaming is a microscopic piece of the bigger picture.

Wonder if thats partly a reason the XSS has not been revealed yet and likely not coming till next year, so they can better meet supply on the XSX?
