It's still early. Even Italy has a long way to go to reach that number and they're the current worst case scenario.

The numbers are shifting sands at this point since we are right in the middle of this thing. It will be impossible to do any kind of real analysis of this until after its over but for now, the numbers are ominous and I would rather not take the chance.

Agreed. I think the measures taken are smart, I'm more commenting on the insane H1N1 numbers and the lack of complete chaotic panic that we have now.

Two members of the French parliament test positive for coronavirus
From CNN’s Pierre Meilhan

Two members of France’s lower house of parliament said they have tested positive for coronavirus.

Sylvie Charrière, LaREM, who represents the Seine-Saint-Denis outside Paris, said Monday she tested positive but her condition does not require hospitalization. She added she will stay home for 14 days.

Earlier on Sunday, LR MP Guy Teissier, representing the Bouches-du-Rhône, said he also tested positive for coronavirus. He was “immediately hospitalized” at the IHU Méditerranée in Marseille following his test.

Honestly it's no big news that some public figure caught the virus, there's no reason they would be immune to it and we're all exposed to contamination (especially public figures actually). Even when it's Tom Hanks or Idris Elba, it's a non-story, unless one of them gets seriously ill, instead of "I got some fever and will stay at home, but I'll be fine".

It's nice that school staff in the UK are being volunteered to be on the front line against this.

It is all in the spirit of this thread tracking, information, and updates. THe people who run our goverments and make the laws should not be dismissed as no big news. It is important to know and track that.

As for the Celebs. They are the ones who create our entertainment we love these people that makes them important.

It's not like I am here telling you about my second uncle so why are you fussing about what is news worthy and what is not?

UK Case increases from 1372 to 1543 (+171) so a drop-down from the +20% on Saturday/Sunday to around +12.5% which is very encouraging news on the whole, in terms of growth trajectory (42%, 20%, 12.5%) though we need to see whether it will hold for the rest of the week.

As a matter if fact it would be more relevant to share about your second uncle, so that we could discuss your experience.
A couple of members of parliament being sick (with minor symptoms, even) won't disturb the lawmaking.

I'm not going to lie, I'm really fucking pissed. The Wisconsin governor issued all businesses that have more than 50 people at a time are to close. Except for hospitals, pharmacies, grocery stores, and daycares.

Fucking nice. All the schools are closed. I work at a daycare, which carries way more germs. I am immunocompromised, and the coronavirus would wreck me if I caught it. Fuck this. I'm fucking mad. I have kids coughing in my face 24/7. And a person literally brought in their kid today who had a nasty cough and high fever. Parents don't give a shit about the other kids or the employees.

I'm seeing white, that's how mad I am. All I can hope for is that my boss chooses to shut our individual daycare down, but I highly doubt that.

In a new paper published on the open-data site SSRN, the researchers found that all cities experiencing significant outbreaks of COVID-19 have very similar winter climates with an average temperature of 41 to 52 degrees Fahrenheit, an average humidity level of 47 to 79 percent with a narrow east-west distribution along the same 30-50 N” latitude. This includes Wuhan, China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Northern Italy, Seattle, and Northern California. It could also spell increasing trouble for the Mid-Atlantic states and — as temperatures rise — New England.
“Based on what we have documented so far, it appears that the virus has a harder time spreading between people in warmer, tropical climates,” said study leader Mohammad Sajadi, MD, associate professor of medicine, UMSOM, physician-scientist at IHV, and a member of GVN.

The team based its predictions on weather data from the previous few months as well as typical patterns from last year to hypothesize on community spread within the next few weeks. Using 2019 temperature data for March and April, risk of community spread could be predicted to occur in areas just north of the current areas at risk,” said study co-author Augustin Vintzileos, PhD, assistant research scientist in the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Maryland, College Park. They plan to investigate whether weather and climate forecasts could help provide more certainty to the predictions.

Interesting. The guy on Rogan said that there wasn't a correlation between warmer climates and the spread of COVID. I wonder who's right.

Am I not allowed to comment on messages now ? I'm not asking you not to post those, just expressing my thoughts that it's not important information to make the headlines.

Nobody knows.

It's clearly spreading in warmer climates as well though, so its not like its slowed down enough.

If there is another major viral outbreak I hope it is a strain bioengineered by david benioff and d.b. weiss so it would be stupidly and pathetically easy to kill off.
It would come in heavy and hard and get everyone's attention, but would disappear with a whimper and everyone would forget it ever happened.
