She ain't getting re-elected if that goes viral.
Everything I posted came from an Italian-american doctor so if he is full of shit so be it.This is, to put it bluntly, a crock of shit.
State-paid Italian doctors get good, even very good, salaries. It's actually those in the private system that work for peanuts in many cases. If you work in the private sector in Italy, you're either a very important and well-publicized specialist (preferably a "primario", ie the director of a hospital ward who can also work in the private sector, or a university professor - one can be both) or you usually have to work your ass off in more than one place to get a decent salary. Also the biggest problem in Italy isn't even the salaries, but the impossibly high taxes. It's virtually guaranteed at this point that when the Covid situation is behind us, loss of income and unemployment will go hand in hand with a tax boost for those who still have a job.
There's a lot of brilliant doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers in Italy, and their education, contrary to popular belief, is not worse than the education you can get in America.
Therefore, this sentence:
is complete bullshit. Pure slander.
Death cause reporting is less straightforward than you'd think.
In the case of AIDS, yes, the cause of death if a person dies from infection is almost always considered AIDS, because AIDS is the primary cause of the immune deficiency that belies infection. Similarly, if you have hypertension and get a hemorragic stroke, the primary cause of the event is hypertension. Death cause reporting must take into account the primary cause and all its consequences.
This is why there's a lot of debate in Italy these days to distinguish people who died "because" of Covid and "with" Covid. Covid pneumonia may be the "final" cause of death, but if you had COPD, cancer or end-stage diabetes or renal failure before getting infected, your previous conditions play a primary role and should be considered the so-called "initial" cause of death. If the "final" cause of death was reported as the actual cause of death every time, you'd have no casualties from diabetes or hypertension because it's not those conditions that actually kill you, but their consequences (stroke, heart attack, infection, etc).
Where are you getting your data from?K
Slow news day.
- Massive surge in number of deaths and cases in UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France
But tomorrow....
Damn @ USA cases.
Number of deaths seem to be under control though, thankfully!
I can't tell you the amount of people who have come into this thread with a post starting with "I just talked to a doctor friend of mine and they said...."Everything I posted came from an Italian-american doctor so if he is full of shit so be it.
Yup. I think 100,000 cases are basically expected in the next few days/weeks.Of course our cases are going to go way up. We just barely started testing for it recently, right? Our numbers are going to get fucking insane.
Based on data from Asian countries, average new confirmed patient takes 10-20 days to treat and have to keep in quarantine observation for at least 2-3 weeks before it was discharged as"recovered". That's why cov-19 infected seniors would overwhelm and crash medical system so easily. Reporting recovered cases are type of useless now before we hit the peak.Every cable news channel keeps a rolling death number on the screen. But not the recovered number. I wonder why that is?
For anybody curious about what life in China (outside of Wuhan) is like right now, I can't recommend this 10 minute from a Japanese reporter highly enough:
I don't live in Nanjing (where this was filmed), but the situation is exactly the same in the Chinese city where I am living. Note that the situation was very different last month, where pretty much everything was closed except for food markets etc. As you can see from the video, right now there is a kind of semi-lockdown in place. Only time will tell if this will be enough to prevent a resurgence of the virus here.
Not good
Wasn‘t Weinstein there for a while?
Might have missed it, but has anyone been able to verify this story or if the Japanese source reporting it is reliable:
Anyone esle would like to answer this?Where are you getting your data from?
Germany had +2,516 new cases today compared to +4,528 yesterday and deaths were down from +24 yesterday to +16 today.
Italy - +5,986/+627 cases/deaths yesterday up to +6,557/+793 today. Wouldn't call it a massive surge and especially knowing their death count from the virus isn't being accurately reported.
And I wouldn't call UK's and Spain's #'s "massive" surges either compared to their #'s yesterday.
Our government finally released some good news, we should have 5 million fast result tests ready for distribution in the next week or so and more 5 million in the following weeks or so. So a total of at least 10M tests available for even people with mild symptoms to be tested.
(Brazil btw)
Do you have a URL you can share for this?
Thanks for sharing. Completely insane. That fictional dystopian future is China today.
Yep. "We stopped it, but you fuckers didn't listen to our warning and brought it back!" will be the messaging. Transparent as hell.
You know shit is fucked when Trump is asking for advice from this dude.
National Review reports that Sharpton and Trump first became partners in the 1980’s when Trump wanted to sell Atlantic City’s casinos as a tourist destination. He reached out to Sharpton to help bring famed boxing announcer Don King into his corner, and the pair became regular boxing buddies and occasional business associates.
Trump went on to donate “anywhere between $20,000 and $150,000” to Sharpton’s charity the National Youth Movement. News reports during Sharpton’s 2004 presidential run listed Trump as one of Sharpton’s “mentors.”
Don't be stupid people, wait for confirmed data before taking matters into your own hands, especially if you're not a doctor yourself.
Nigeria Has Chloroquine Poisonings After Trump Praised Drug

This is some of the most insane shit I have ever seen. I mean literal movie or videogame level stuff here.
Welcome to the future.

Sucks you're giving up hope. You were one of the sane few posting here. Yes, lots of people are going to get infected...probably millions but this isn't going to wipe out humanity like some people on here believe. The numbers here in the US and in some other countries in terms of the CFR are probably close to what we can expect with this virus in terms of people dying. Right now we have 300k+ confirmed cases but it wouldn't surprise me if there was twice that infected with it right now. Here in the US we have 26k confirmed cases and like 340 deaths which is something like 1.2% but I bet the total # of actual people infected with this right now is somewhere in the 40-50k range or more, which means the % of people dying from this is more than likely less than 1%.Welp time to turn to the dark side.
Don't really see a way of stopping this. We will be in this thread soon at a few million. Even flattening the curve means basically a surveillance state. Basically probably going to go out each day knowing based on your age you got a % chance of catching it and dying that day.
I guess the only good news is at some point people will get infected, survive and then be immune (as long as it doesn't mutate) but its going to be ugly getting there. Unless a miracle hail mary comes out of nowhere.
They did. Lots of people have been discussing this even before Trump brought it up.Me thinks bloomberg added in a bit of editorializing and scare stream media tactics.
Brazil yesterday: +45% cases. Today: +12%. Hum what?

Also, there is hope with treatment and the use of HydroxyChloroquine. They interviewed a Doctor at a local NY hospital which started using the drug last week even before Trump's announcement and the FDA approval and so far they've had 0 deaths and more than 300 patients are being treated at that particular hospital, all showing signs of improvement since starting the drug.
There is hope but it's just going to be a long, tough road to get there. Try and stay positive.
