Sony opened PS5 to any off shelf component since it delivery the minimum speed requirement.

Wait for the XBOX X Pro reveal, when all the talks will be on a game changer new SDD tech. All the XBOX fans will come here and say to PS5 owners how SDD is the most important part of their hardware (with the power buttom, indeed).

SSD doesn’t improve compute power.

It allow devs to do better and new things n games with it.

I don’t believe any hardware component can cure cancer or any other disease.

I think all of it will make little difference in the end but its interesting.

All the 12 vs 10 TF talk will amount to nowt. Xbox bandwidth per CU is less than Sony ps5, and ps5 448 is miserable to be shared with CU so god knows how series x will do with teh slow part of the RAM - that 336 for the other 3.5 GB will be good for series sounds fishy as well . I dont hink it is clear yet.

Both SSD will probably have more of an effect than fast narror vs wide and low ....given that the band width starved low memory RAM (for 4K) for both consoles.

Remember a 5700 has 448 bandwidth just for itelf, note CPU has another bus on PCs.

Hence ethe thread title while it thinks is being sarcastic is probably correct.

Don’t worry the Xbox x pro will be better in everything than the ps5 pro , again, so Xbox fans will have a lot to talk about.

We still don’t even have proper CPU&GPU ps5 specifications cause Cerny forgot to provide us with a clock speed range, only that «most of the time» the clock speeds will approach the max theoretical clock speeds.

Probably because about 90% of them now don't need to exist and are merely a function of railroading a community to make something appear better or more important than it actually is.

Sony has build a solid foundation and it's only going up from here.
If you have experienced VR, it isn't hard to imagine what Sony can do with more powerful hardware like PS5.
Writing it off as a gimmick is ignorant as best.

MS seems to be picking up again with their games, Hellblade 2 is gonna be amazing and I'm sure The Initiative will come up with a great game (ironically two cinematic walking simulators).
I hope for the xbox fans that MS will keep it up and won't ruin the studios.

I do think VR is something that gets overlooked right now with all the spec talk.
Like I said to the two posters above, Sony has laid the foundation and I can only see VR (in general) growing as a platform.

I wouldn't doubt that PS5 has been designed with VR in mind as well.

Yeah because the speculation thread was such a beacon of light. Oh and what 7 years, the Xbox has had far superior hardware on the market since 2017.

People that replaced HDDs with SSD on PS4 or Xbox One basically wasted money losing a lot of storage space in the process

With next-gen all of this will change

SSDs aren't new true, but SSDs without bottlenecks quite sure are.


Look at that pc pcie nvme drives being no faster than sata ssds in practically all titles. Yet those nvme drives should be 10x times faster than the sata ssd. That is due to bottlenecks, which ps5 does not have. That is why ps5's drive is likely at least 10 times faster than the fastest pc ssd in practice. Without the ps5's custom i/o, it is unlikely pc's will match ps5's ssd in practice even if they manage to exceed the ssd's specs, due to bottlenecks.

We could see ps5 ports to pc get downgrades.

Man, xbox fans sure do love Playstation threads, but don't seem to care about xbox threads looking at the post counts.

On topic, when you do something that hasn't been done before, it seems to generate interest. That's probably why SSD's are a big topic of discussion.

Same for nVidia G-Sync compatible.
You need to reach the minimum requirements.
You can put any SSD NVMe M.2 (?) but if it didn’t reach the minimum speeds it will probably make the system and games slow.

faster data processing is like having a good personality when dating. its a plus but not a necessity. no girl is gonna pick a guy with a good personality with a narrow pencil of a penis when they can go with a guy with a 12 inch monster with enough bandwidth/girth to satisfy them.
