Bleeding Edge code not sent out for review

Isn't it an online game? You should be testing it based on real interactions with other people, not based on interactions "curated" by the devs.

I have to say I'm to surprised by how low key this launch was, I barely found out it's releasing this week.

Well the reviews are being published and it is not good.
Sub 70 on meta.

Damn those 7's. Those 2 points make all the difference in the world.

In all seriousness tho. This was a side project. Crazy how fast they churned this out. With saying that, def not my type of game.

This was just a little side project for NT.
They are without a doubt one of the best pound for pound devs out there.
They have ramped up to around 120 employees under MS, but they were traditionally around 70. The quality of graphic fidelity they get, puts alot of studios with hundreds of employees to shame.
I like the artwork on this game, but its not my type of game.

The game is superb technically. Looks and runs great, but it’s just not my cup of tea gameplay wise. Not a big fan of fighting mechanics with parry.
But you can see the excellent craft of NT on display here. Makes me excited for future projects.

As for the OT, yeah it’s a multiplayer game, you can’t review it in isolation. Game needs to be live. Fuck off whineyjourno.

I am not surprised, finished the training section and was able to hold my barf in.

Generic underwhelming garbage. Re-installed Overwatch.

It's kinda, middling. Which is what Ninja Theory seems to be known for; middling action games outside of two standouts. The standouts being Hellblade and Enslaved. I never could understand them being a huge pickup for MS other than being a filler or support studio. Maybe that's the point. *shrug*

Shit looked mediocre and generic since day one. Microsoft never learns and doesn't have a drop of innovation or new blood in most of the ips thy put out, it's sad.

Now post the tweets of Timdog and blubozo saying how much fun thy are having, how good it looks and how Sony fans are jelly thy don't have a game like this or Crackdown 3 😂😂😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Enjoy your gamepass games on your nextbox.
Game is pretty good actually. Then again, Fanboys will be Fanboys. I'd rather have a game similar to powerstone/battlerite/overwatch, than not have one at all.

Reviews after release is expected for a online game.

Not sending review codes however, can be either a lack of faith in the product, or just doesn't like to send it, and it sounds the former.

just finished playing a 2hrish session of this. Nice surprise! game is actually fun.
Main issue was that some rounds teams were really unbalanced, like collect orbs 0-50 like.
Definitely will keep playing it.

Finally an online game where I get to be the best of the team most of the time. Had tons of fun trying out all the available and awesome characters and find your favorite playing style. This is not a super ambitious game or some game changer, but it does its own thing really well. Will play more.

Lol at the Sony peeps shitting on Ninja Theory now.
This is how you really feel.

Why would anyone need to feel anything when everyone can see the result of their first game since the acquisition?

Even Microsoft shoved the game out the backdoor without saying anything.

Hopefully their future projects are a lot better and get the time necessary to launch as fully complete projects.

Yes it was soo good Capcom rebooted it and made 5 great so no one will remember DmC

Funny thing is I actually finished DmC and bailed on 5 in like under 5 hours, the constant cutscenes were dreadful.

I'm almost 30, I just wanna play a fuckin video game and not watch bad emo characters interact in a video every 90 seconds.

I like the character design. NT went really weird and eccentric with them opposed to cool. It's like the ultimate game of outcasts kicking the living shit out of each other.

Agreed. 5 was pure garbage. I think it is the first narrative game on Gamepass that I didn't bother to finish.

Andrew Reiner must have Game Pass the lazy shit. The Twitter press are turning into legit moaning game press. Cunts.
I was just gonna write this and Ninja Theory should focus on their story-driven SP games imho. I can't wait for Senua part II.

To be fair, Ninja theory was doing more story based games than what they are attempting here all of a sudden...…..And there was more gameplay and soul in heavenly Sword than anything seen in Hellblade…....Twing Twang had more character and was better designed than Senua a million times over.....

I want to see a sequel to Heavenly Sword than all of Ninja Theory's games......It had good character design and unique gameplay elements, it has the most potential for growth than all their other games.....I hope Sony does a heavenly Sword 2, it would have been a perfect game to give to Ready at Dawn for PS5....

Devil May Cry is not a "narrative game". It couldn't be further from being that.

I agree that I somewhat mislabelled it, but DMC has a lot of story with characters and dialogue and its the game's main narrative drive opposed to, let's say, rogue-like games or some weird artsy indie games. And as such, I found it to be terrible with lack of self-awareness and incredibly annoying characters and dialogue - and there is a lot of that stuff. But if you skip all that, the gameplay just wasn't interesting enough to continue playing.

But to get back on topic: what are your favorite characters. I like the guitar guy a lot, because he does a lot of damage and is still quite agile.

im trying to think WTF this game is.

Most teams I play on still don’t understand they need to deposit the orbs, they just play it like Team Deathmatch. Kinda frustratin

edit

The core game is pretty good, honestly. I prefer the character mods and progression in this game over cosmetic loot boxes in OW.

It’s a shell of a game, not enough maps of heroes (imo) and could use some polish and flashing out (Stat leaderboards, ranked play), but glad I play it through Game Pass

Not sure why people compares this to Overwatch. It has basically nothing to do. I'd say it has more to do with Smite than Overwatch. I mean, its not even a first person shooter.

I don’t understand the issue with the lock-on mechanic. This isn’t a first-person shooter. It’s not really even a third-person shooter, either.

If my memory serves correct (i've played it on the first open beta), it would be ironically aimed for keyboard users as the moveset ends up skipping rotation values.

Its a online royal rumble game. Everyone is trying to be the next Fortnite. The fact that Ninja Theory did as well is of no surprise.
They started to develop it well before MS bought them out, and they just finished the project they started. If anything its just another example of how good a studio NT is. They had like 75 employees and managed to put out Hellblade 1, Bleeding Edge and they are also working on Hellblade 2, which is the best looking next gen game shown this far, and are also doing Mara.

What is with you and shit takes in MS threads 😆

This game had multiple betas and currently has a big marketing push on XBL and GamePass. Also seen a big marketing push on various gaming forums and Reddit. They certainly didn’t “shove the game out the backdoor without saying anything”.

And who knows how this game would have turned out without MS buying the studio. Maybe it launches incomplete a year from now and Hellblade 2 is further back?

I think they still be more story based, which we will see in Hellblade 2 and Mara.
Bleeding Edge was just a small side project for a online rumble game.

Yep. Ninja Theory has gone from like 75 employees as an independent studio to over 120 under Microsoft. If anything they will be far more advanced with Hellblade 2 than if they only had the 75 as an independent.
Just imagine what they will capable of when they can employ the people they want, a MS budget and all the help from MSs other studios. They have easy access to both Playground Games and Rare for any help they might need.
Anyone shitting on them is just salty.
Sony bought Insomniac which I think was an excellent decision, and I think they will be far more capable now they are part of Sony's first party. I expect them to surpass anything they have done before. Why Sony people would not think the same with Ninja Theory amazes me.

Ok, let's see how they turn out and whether the talk of Microsoft giving them creative freedom rings true.

I'm not seeing the parallels between this and Fortnite. If anything it's more in the mould of Overwatch/Paladins, only it's about 3 years too late and unfinished.

What is with you and shit takes in MS threads 😆

If you can't even admit the game was unceremoniously launched then maybe there are bigger issues at play here. You say "big marketing push" and then go on to talk about forums and reddit? Really?

How did that "big push" go? Considering this is a MP only title, how is it doing on the Xbox most played list? What are the twitch viewership numbers like? The reality is that outside of the hardcore Xbox fan circle the vast majority of people didn't even know it launched.

I don't understand how anyone can look at this and then say "great job" whether that's to NT or to Microsoft. It sends completely the wrong message. But carry on, if you only game on a single platform you are only hurting yourself.
