Can't find the old thread when the console was revealed at the games awards and some saying that don't have place under the TV
Now we have the size specs...so...Is big for you or not?

People just don't get how small it still is (since it can be placed horizontally).

It's 15 cm or 5.94 inches tall this way.

For comparison, a Sinology Nas (which many use as a media server) is taller at 6.5 inches, and fits in most ikea-like cabinets.

It'll fit fine and if it doesn't then I'll just move stuff around. Not the end of the world.

I'll be making room for a PS5 too.

Won't fit vertically. Will fit horizontally but I don't think it's really designed for that from a cooling aspect

Upgrade your shitty tv cabinet, cheap asses. You drop $60 on a copy-pasta COD 3 times a year and $1400 on micro-transactions but can't buy a good piece of furniture for $199 that'll last a decade or two? Gtfo here.
What a stupid comment. So we all have shitty cabinets because most cabinets don't have compartments tall enough to accommodate the XSX vertically? Upgrade your thought process, dumbass.

Starting with the X the console has been sitting next to my TV on the floor, because it transports heat better that way (X gets quite hot, so if you keep it in your rack it will have a hard time getting cool air, thus creating more noise). The days of consoles in cabinets have passed, it's just not plausible anymore to confine them and their needs.

...hate me...
It could go in the middle laying down like a center speaker. My TV is wall mounted so there's room on the top of the media cabinet. But standing up it will be in front of the soundbar.

They designed the vents to go both ways and it's approved and tested to be used both ways. Vertical is probably optimal due to the way heat rises, but that's the same of any device.

I can live with the extra bulk, as long as it doesn't have an external power supply. Those things are a fucking nightmare

Here is a link to my setup from an old thread, it’s far from cheap!

But as you can see, the Series X will not fit on those middle shelves as they currently are, not even horizontally. It also won’t fit vertically if I take the middle shelf out. So yeah, some less than ideal mods are needed.

Its not even big so I don’t know how people are saying its “big” .. I won’t have any issues putting it in my setup with the others

I don't really have a gaming station. All the devices are organically growing around me, I have TV in the middle, PC to the left of me and PS4 Pro to the right of me. The PS5 will replace the PS4 Pro's space and I'll get a third table to fit the Xbox Series X on. 😂

My only concern is not having enough HDMI 2.0 ports on the TV. The PC might have to get restricted to a 1080p one. Ooh, I wonder if it does 4K30. That will do as I won't be gaming much on the PC when the next-gen consoles arrive.

Sorry, but it's not small at all. It's going to cause issues in a lot of cabinets.

Most people will find a workaround I'm sure but for comparison at 150 mm on it's side is just under double the height of the biggest current gen consoles (launch XBO) and nearly 4 times the smallest (PS4 slim) - for comparison PS4 (39mm slim and 55mm Pro) and XBO (79mm original XBO, 60mm One X) - that's bigger than a big-ass 80s VCR. I've got TVs in three rooms in the house, it won't fit the furniture in two of them.

Living room: IKEA TV table (Hemnes) as part of wall to wall units - shelf height 110 mm. Only option, maybe, would be to stand it up behind the TV.

Media Room: Also an IKEA storage unit (Besta) has a shelf height of 80mm (top shelf) and 120 mm (bottom shelf). Not enough room behind, might be able to use one of the book shelves if I drill holes for the cabling.

Bedroom: Standalone black glass and chrome TV stand, shelves are 160 mm so it will fit but take nearly the entire space.

Oh come on. Like, you don't have an AV receiver in there already?

It's smaller than most of those.
Sure I do, but I don't have room for one more? You don't know what my furniture and living room looks like. Yeah, I could put it on the floor I guess but.. No. I'll go for the (hopefully) smaller console. For many reasons.

My one x sits horizontally on top of my media cabinet so my series x will just replace it, although I may put it upside down so it doesn't vent towards my turntable.

Of course I don't, and I don't care. I'm just stating the obvious: many folks will find a way. I don't think Ms never thought of this during their design.

It's bigger than any other console before it, sure.

I'll go for the (hopefully) smaller console. For many reasons.

Which we are not debating here.

Stop size shaming the Xbox Series X. Games consoles don't have to adhere to your preconceived notions of acceptability nor do they have to fit into any sizes that were (probably) designed and proscribed by white cisgender males.

*Awaits the Nintendo HyperCube, Sony Doughnut and Sega Hyper Doughnut that goes both ways*

The revolution is now!

Vertically it wont fit only horizontally. Its too bad that logo cannot be rotated.

Measurements are right in the OP and everywhere online.

Or is the confusion down to the metric system, as usual with you silly Americans? :messenger_winking_tongue:
The picture didn't show up when I looked first - and it's small as hell

Also, I'm brazilian and we use the metric system

Huh? You asked about me, my receiver and my set-up. I have no clue what other folks will do or not. I simply answered the OP that no, I won't have room for it and then I answered your question.

I have no clue what you're debating anymore, but whatever 🙃

Closer to launch i plan on moving some things around and it should fit here just fine. Otherwise its going on the floor next to my pc tower on the left of my desk

Finding space should be easy, especially if youre already used to having a tower.

some of you act as if it is a literal fridge.

When will people start to clean their stuff before posting filthy pictures? :)

Exactly. Even if it's just you tidying and dusting it for the purpose of the picture. Have some pride ffs lol.
Its an older photo i took for a show your setup on reddit awhile back (half-ironically), just illustrating a point that if you have a decent sized tv stand/desk, you should be able to find room somewhere just fine. As long as your idea of a console placement isnt smack dab right in front of the tv.

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
This whole thread is just major concern trolling. If someone wants a Series X, they will figure it out, just like we all do when we get a new console.

I quoted you and others, but it was a more broader question, as in "people normally have large electronics in their media cabinets".

And if you want the (supposedly) smaller console cause of other reasons, we aren't debating those reasons here (as legitimate as those may be).

Will we be able to lay it on its side? That’s my only concern about it’s look. I don’t mind that it’s a tower and its design isn’t so outrageous anyway. Just curious about the airflow design. I assume putting it on its side won’t be a huge deal.
