Call me crazy, but I think they should have led with this before their tech deep-dive. This has concrete features people can imagine using and get excited about, whereas the deep-dive was 50% mitigating the power difference, and 50% talking about a feature that people are going to have to experience to appreciate, assuming the sound is actually that mind-blowingly better.

The Switch has "HD Rumble" - aka linear actuators, but it doesn't have anything special in the triggers. Nintendo did have a patent for something like this that was being discussed around the time of that faked-up oval screen controller (also based on patents), but they've never used it.

MS has rumble-like haptic feedback in the triggers, but it doesn't sound like the "resistance" feedback Sony is talking about or that the Nintendo patent seems to indicate. It might end up being essentially the same thing that they're making sound different through marketing buzz, but folks are taking it to mean that, when you pull the trigger, in certain situations you will actually feel pushback/resistance.
Thanks for doing the work I was too lazy to do. Well I’ll be able to judge for myself once it comes out to see how different it is. Until then I’ll be cautiously optimistic that it will be a cool new feature and not more of the same.

OP please update your thread with this small info it’s not a big deal but it’s a big deal to others

3.5mm headphone jack is there .. if you just go back through the years and look at Devkit controllers for PS4 and PS5 you will see it just right there ..

So smile .. or scream It depends on how size your brain is

Anyone think the ridges between the black and white will add a noticable feeling to the controller? Were used to all flat mold controllers, just a thought

I dont like the collor

White, black and blue?

Is this going to be the default console sold to customer?

Also Dual Sense sounds stupid

Why dont just called it Dualshock 5

The design look great tho

DualShock referred to the two rumble motors, a small one on one side and a big one on the other.

I guess DualSense now refers to the two forms of sensory feedback. Haptic Feedback and Resistive/Adaptive Triggers.

Also, don't forget the blue is just a light and will probably change like on the PS4. Would be cool though if they let players customise the default colour...

Edit: One cool thing, we can still refer to it as the "DS5"...

I beg there are some other colours available.

Imagine that controller after a gamer fuel mountain dew and cheeto binge.
No PS gamers are not associated with Mountain Dew and Doritos, that privilege is for the Xboxgamers they are called the Moutain Dew/Doritosgeneration😉

It still has unresponsive (sticky) face buttons and a terrible D pad.... it's also for smaller hands I feel. I dunno how anyone would play a fighting game on Xbox for instance...hack and slash too. Basically anything with fast / repetitive button presses.
Am I the only one who had trouble with the A button registering sometimes? Maybe it's the way I hold the X1 controller. But I never had that issue with x360 or the original Xbox controllers.

This isn't 2013 anymore.
What's the difference? Did internal batteries got immortal all of sudden?
Internal battery in a controller lasts shorter and lives shorter. It requires plugging the controller often and is inconvenient. I don't really see it any other way.
Few years with a controller and it won't last as long as when it was new. It's just as in 2013.
Why are people so hang on having internal battery... why would a small hatch in the back of a controller be such a big issue? Sony could put their batter pack there (same as internal battery but replaceable) or let use our own aa or rechargeables.
I don't want to keep the cable around the be wired to a console every 10 fucking hours and have it last half as that after few years if I can just pop in new or recharged batteries and continue playing. wtf is wrong with you people.
Who had a problem with 360 model. It had battery packs which You charged with console like ps4 and possibility to use normal batteries.

I had an Xbox controller that had that issue. I had some other issues with the Xbox Elite controller

The right should button broke at the hinge after playing like 200 hours of dark souls (I am arrow heavy)

I also had an issue with the left stick 'bouncing' if I tapped left, it would bounce and trigger a right movement right afterwards.

I said this in the next-gen thread, but I'll say it here too. Have we talked about the built-in mic and how it makes that patent about "Playstation Assist" seem much more like a real product?

They only mention doing "quick voice chat", but I can't see them putting a microphone in for just that.

I just hope it'll actually be useful and offer some deeper integration with PS5. I like that my Xbox works with Alexa, but the feature-set is fairly small.

I think the controller looks rather nice. Seems to hint that the PS5 it's going to have black and white colors combined? I'm calling it the orca then, orcas are my favourite animal.

By the way, Sony is copying MS :messenger_grimmacing_

Why do people keep lying that this controller is just copying MS' Xbox controller?

You don’t want a cable but you’re ok with buying a pack of AA batteries every few months and definitely not forgetting to buy a new pack. Lol ok dude. You do you.

not starting console war, but that has been there on the xone triggers since launch, only a couple of devs actually used it. even the switch with their HD rumble so this here is Sony again masking things already done as novel.

Have you ever pulled a trigger on a revolver and then pulled a trigger on a 1911?

What the DualSenses triggers can do is simulate the long and heavy trigger pull of a revolver and then a crisp light trigger of a 1911.

Looks good.

I mean, they have basically turned it into more of an X-box controller, which was the correct thing to do.

Do not like the white color, it'll turn yellow after a while.
Would have like if the playstation buttons still held the traditional colors on the shapes.
When your white objects in your house turn yellow, and i am speaking out of my own experience...stop smoking like a steamtrain😉

looks like a PS controller in an xbox controller shell overall I like the shape of it

As for the color white/black can be a good combo but they way its set up on this controller looks terrible to me... I really hope the ps5 looks more slick then the controller.

I know the controller will have a incredible amount of color scheme options available for consumers but announcing it with that choice looks ridiculous IMO.

YES!!!! I am ok with having OPTIONS.
I can buy a pack of batteries from ikea for very cheap, I could buy batter pack from sony and charge with cable, I could buy rechargables AA and chare once a week.....
what I personally do is buy a pack of ikea batteries and they last me for months. I was doing rechargables years ago but ikea batteries are just cheaper and more convenient

First they want pictures of our ears... not they have built in microphones into the controllers? Remember when people thought Kinects would spy on you.....
That's even the biggest joke. People calling Kinect a NSA spy machine, but have no problem that the company that leaked millions of accounts has a built-in microphone in their controllers "pie_tears_joy:

What are you babbling about? It’s not like it has a built in camera to look at you when gaming.

First time I heard of this? Any link or it’s BS smack talk.
